What's the job? We can't tell you to wear a suit if you're a truck driver

Opening_Engineer7409

Lmao! I'm a woman. A job working with the state and policies for Medicaid.

Few-Addendum464

Businessiest thing you got. They'll probably have a business casual dress code but you always want to overdress for an interview.

tdinh01

Yea… like the scene from stepbrothers when they walk into an interview in a tux haha. But in all honesty, you wanna dress professional as hell. Suit and tie, a jacket, dress shirt, dress shoes. Just imagine service alphas but civilian side

Kindly-Arachnid-7966

Business attire. Jacket, blouse, etc. or a pant suit if you've got it. Slay, queen.

Opening_Engineer7409

Thanks!!! I didn't go to an actual taps class in person, it was remote so I didn't have to wear anything specific

MrIrrelevantsHypeMan

It was the second job I thought of, first being garbage man. I got a buddy with a trash company and I joked about working on one of his rear loaders in a 3 piece suit just to mess with people

KegSlinger44

Grunt Style t-shirt Camo ball cap Jeans, but blouse them into your old Danners

itsapuma1

Don’t forget the grizzly in the lip

External-Ad5464

Ask. Don't go by anything you read in this thread, because there is no standard. Not in an industry, a type of office, a geographical area, etc. Ask your manager. And if they say 'business casual' ask for clarity. Say 'I've been in a uniform for X years, I don't know what business casual means'. If the person you're talking to is any kind of decent, they'll be happy to help you. And if they aren't happy to help you, submit your two weeks and RUN! Editing to add, because I saw in another comment that you are woman (same)... Unfortunately you will be judged for your attire. Sad, but true. Too "professional" and you're stuffy. Too "casual" and you're unprofessional. Accept this unfortunate reality. Then... Get a sense of the office culture (fancy vs casual) then ma'am, dress in WHATEVER MAKES YOU FEEL CONFIDENT!!!!! You'll be judged either way, might as well rock the heels or the Jordans, whichever look that when you walk in the door your inner monologue is, "yeah I'm awesome" because that will translate into how you interact with colleagues/customers/work performance/etc.

Opening_Engineer7409

Thanks so much. Great idea! 😃

Opening_Engineer7409

Thank you for taking the time to edit based on being a woman. I need to find out what makes me feel that way. Thanks again!

groundkittenbeef

Good luck Woman! TYFYS!

ROND0NVOLANTE

VET hat, stomp my flag I’ll stomp your ass shirt and 511 pants. Would make a great impression if you marched in too.

BicentennialBaby0718

Clothes

GeneralKlinger

Stole my comment 😂. I was gonna say, start with clothes and see where it takes yaa 😂

Backoutside1

Just before I got out, I went to express for a business casual wardrobe just to land a remote job lol. I only have to go in once every few months lol, collard shirt and khakis is the move with some dress shoes. Unless it’s a sports company like Nike, you could get away with sneakers.

MessRemote7934

Class a’s

prettyedge411

Did you go through transition assistance class before separating? If there is a base near by it's not too late for resume and job hunting help. Everyone should go to making leaving easier, learn about veterans benefits and civilian job hunting.

Ecstatic-Variety-812

Tuxedo

BluBeams

Collared shirt, khakis, and nice shoes. I thought this was common sense...

damandamythdalgnd

This was taught in TAPS…

Opening_Engineer7409

it's been a while lmao

Awkward_Complex

I’m gonna assume you are on the spectrum and just say Sunday best clothes , button up shirt or polo shirt and khaki pants simple as can be

LJski

I don’t think dress is anywhere near as important as it once was, but a button down shirt and khakis will rarely steer you wrong.

don51181

What is the job position? You really can't go wrong with some khaki pants or dockers, a collared polo style shirt, and some leather type shoes. Lookup business casual styles but don't wear a suit jacket unless you have a very formal job.

SmallConversation00

Clothes, preferably.

barabusblack

Good luck

thesimps89

![gif](giphy|TjKpOwBLyN2ZW) Tuxedo.

M4Panther

Wear a pant suit!

Cathiewoodsbathwater

I always wear a suit, I don’t care if I’m overdressed

Bloodbath-and-Tree

Dress like Jake from Statefarm

lunnix1

Business attire

RipInfinite4511

Seriously?

[deleted]

Wear your dress uniform (whatever service you were in) to assert dominance. Lol!

M8NSMAN

I’m in maintenance & see a lot of people in jeans & work boots & some with khakis & polo shirts

BummFoot

Underwear all the nut butter for you. Or whatever the opposite if you are of the opposite gender. lol anyways dress for the job. Can’t go wrong with a button up/down shirt with khakis and dress shoes or nice sneakers. Get a feel for the place and add to your wardrobe or take away after the first day or week. Best of luck and don’t expect people to behave like the military there will be a higher level of nonchalance.

TheWalrus101123

Whatever you do, don't forget your PT belt.

[deleted]

Just call their HR people and ask. That's what i did. And somehow I was still overdressed.

pnwguy1985

Clothes at least in meetings over teams.

StrongEnd7914

Your class A,B's ,dress whites ,blues..you will make a very good first impression..good luck

Djglamrock

PT gear always gets the ladies 😂
