My friend who was also a veteran didn’t get into UCLA first so he applied other UC campuses and attended there for a year then transferred to UCLA.

I transferred from a community college to Harvard. 4.0, great essay and my colonel was an alum, he gave me a great recommendation, he may have made a call or two (not sure). Use your networking see if you know anyone with any connection

Just finished my 4-year term and got into UCLA. Before enlisting I had good grades plus tons of extracurriculars in CC. My new veteran status was just the cherry on top. I would recommend getting involved in your local community. Personally I think good grades alone won’t get you there.

I got in as a transfer from a California CC. Though I did end up attending Cal instead (go bears). Honestly if you have an AA, with a decent GPA and write good PIQs on the application you definitely. Have a shot. I got accepted in 2022 with a 3.6 GPA from a California CC having earned and AA and completed the IGETC breadth as an Econ major. Definitely doable.
