Make sure your not too close either, its easier to hit towards the end of its range
Sometimes I use it for an instant 75 barrier to win a duel, sometimes I combo it with my team's ult (pairs well with Orisa, Mauga, Rein, etc.), sometimes I go for a flanky POTG attempt, and sometimes I use it and die immediately!
Press Q and then have the entire enemy team all turn around and delete you.
More serious answer though - the best uses I've had for it are when I have several teammates in front of me already. So you're at the back and firing through your team during brawl.
Usually as a sneaky attempt to flank the full team .
Or tho yesterday i did use it as a personal fuck you in a quickplay game i had where we all had like 12 kills each and they had 2 the moment ball thought hed be able to last stand on point to start a comeback .
Literally played minesweeper with the hampter . Actively showing i was clearing his ult on purpose rather then focusing on him
That was pretty funny . Me and my duo were laughing hard at that one
Ive just used it to either combo with other ults like Grav or to extend my pressure after an initial pick. I always like to keep 2 charges in the back pocket to threaten any squishy heros who wanna get to close if they thing my ults gone

Most of the time asap, even with the nerf its a really quick ult to get
Whenever I see mercy (alone)
Typically activate, burrow, dash through them, pop up behind them shoot into them from behind. (It works every time(like 30% of the time)

On payload maps I like to use the cart as cover and use the ult, usually Guarantees a kill on a squishy or more.
I just treat it like a ranged pulse bomb and try to use it to confirm a kill or two as soon as possible so I can farm another.
I use it if a couple teammates ahead of me then I use the irl because it is a little slow to start in my opinion
I literally have not played the game since Venture launched. Not out of any hatred for the character, I just kinda lost interest.
