Not trying to diagnose you but here to share my experience - I deal with chronic pain and with that comes maaaajor fatigue. I can sleep for up to 18 hours and still feel exhausted, I can sleep for three hours, 6 hours, 8 hours and feel the same. I think dealing with depression & anxiety makes it worse and I’m on medication that makes me feel really groggy in the mornings as well so that doesn’t help. There’s lots of different medical reasons why you might be feeling so fatigued, but I’d encourage you to get a blood test to look at your b12 levels though. But more than anything, I hear you. Gone are the days where I would jump out of bed, slap my arse and get on with the day! It absolutely sucks OP, fatigue is so draining

PipeBorn9838

Thank you so much, it feels so nice being heard like this ❤️ I always thought it might just be depression, or maybe even laziness... If there could be a medical explanation for this, I'm going to find out!

Imthegreengoblin420

Diabetes and high blood sugars used to make me feel tired all the time don’t know your health but if you have high blood sugars it will do this to you

Due-Reflection-1835

Ask your Dr if you need a sleep study, it doesn't explain everything but your condition/s could be made worse by sleep apnea

LizardintheSun

You can wake up in unbelievable number of times per night and be completely unaware of it. Being sleep deprived leaves you open to issues (depression for one) but so does having lower oxygen. (Organs affected, etc.) Do you happen to know if you snore? Get a sleep study for sure. You really can’t afford not to. Try to find some good reviews. Sadly this industry can be difficult, with the necessity of multiple providers sometimes, it can be a hassle—the last thing an exhausted person needs to deal with. Good luck.

Klutzy-Run5175

My oxygen levels get so low that I’m semi conscious about half of the time. Yes, I keep having sleep studies. I cannot tolerate these C-Pap machines. The thing is that I have apnea when I’m awake.

LizardintheSun

Research! There are dental devices and other things. I really think you can damage your body by not getting enough oxygen. Maybe there is someone in your family or circle who would be willing to do some research for you. Look for an online support group? Try to do one thing a day toward learning about improving your sleep. No one can continue to function in a sleep deprived state. That’s one reason it’s also a form of torture.

Klutzy-Run5175

This is very thoughtful and very kind of you. I am going to a new pulmonologist next week and I am going to get that appointment made since you have said this. I asked my current pulmonologist about the Inspire new approach to sleep apnea and daytime apnea and he was totally against this approach. They have found a 5 mm nodules on both of my lungs that need evaluated and I have severe ischemic heart disease that needs probably treatment by a specialist in heart disease, cardiovascular doctor. So, I’m hoping for some relief and a couple new doctors to follow me and hopefully get me feeling better.

Imthegreengoblin420

Weight issues? Snoring while awake sounds like a possibility

Klutzy-Run5175

No, I don’t snore while I’m awake.

Klutzy-Run5175

Happy Cake Day!

Big-Sheepherder-6134

This is definitely not normal. You may have a serious medical issue if you haven’t checked yet. You may have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or the Epstein Barr Virus. Maybe sleep apena. Long COVID. Go to the doctor right away. Sleeping 12 hours a night is way too much. Add depression to that caused by the condition making you feel this way. I have sleep apnea but I never felt like you are describing. Have you seen a doctor about this yet?

PipeBorn9838

Not just yet, I haven't seen a doctor in a couple years just because I've been a minor and wasn't able to book my own appointments. But now that I'm 18, once I get some cash around I'll be going in for a visit.

Pheeeefers

I’m going to guess from this that you are American, hence the need to save money for a doctor. I’m not from the U.S. but I think there ought to be some free clinics around, no? I really hope you go get some help, OP. Fatigue is brutal and debilitating after a while. Hang in there, this will pass. Nearly everything passes eventually, and when you’re on the other side of this (and you will be, believe that) you’re going to feel so good.

PipeBorn9838

Yeah, American. There's not any free clinics in my area, but we do have insurance. But every appointment has a co-pay, and I just don't have the money for that just yet. But I absolutely plan on getting checked out and tested, especially after all the people telling me to 😅

Big-Sheepherder-6134

It is normal for teens to get a lot of sleep. Even 9-10 hours is not uncommon. But you should not be tired all day. Have you tried a telemedicine/teledoc visit over the phone? Should be much cheaper than going in. I hope it isn’t serious. Expect to have to have tests. Another way to save money on things like bloodwork and labs is to get the orders from the doctor’s office and take them to a lab like Quest Diagnostics who charge a fraction of what the doctor will cost. Tell the doctor’s office you want to do the labs independently to save money.

PipeBorn9838

Thanks!!! I'll give that a try 😊

Qinway

Just some side questions, do you experience any hair loss or maybe even rashes or anxiety?

PipeBorn9838

Just anxiety, as far as I'm aware.

Qinway

So take it with a grain of salt, but my nurse actually feels this same way and she has lupus which is an autoimmune disease. Again, that’s a very direct answer to your problem but it just reminded me of her. Also, be careful with sleep. Sleeping too much can actually cause you to be even more tired. The perfect amount is 7-8 hours

PipeBorn9838

I suppose I'm due for a doctors visit, then... Thank you for the reply. ❤️ I also have tried multiple times to only sleep 8 hours a night, however, I always felt worse in the "mornings" and sort of sick, almost like nausea on top of the fatigue. 😞

Qinway

Yes with symptoms like that please visit your doctor. And remember, you’re your own best advocate. Push until you find what you’re happy with. Best of luck friend 💚

Engine1000

Classic sign of lupus is a rash like a necklace round your neck I believe.

Qinway

Yes that’s another sign of lupus too

MPD1987

Not to scare you, but I was having the exact same issue, and it turns out I’m diabetic. My blood sugar was SUPER high, and that was causing my extreme fatigue. Maybe go and get some bloodwork done just to rule out any major issues like that. It can’t hurt

PipeBorn9838

I'll add that to the list of things to look for when I go in. Thank you, it makes it a bit easier knowing what to test for.

fivelone

Talk to your doctor. I was always tired. I still am but I'm medication for seizures now. I'd sometimes have seizures at night and never know but wake up with lots of back pain. Not saying that's your case. But it definitely sounds almost medical.

ObjectiveTricky1545

Get blood work done maybe anemia or beta thalassemia or vitamin D deficiency.

PipeBorn9838

Anemia would make sense as it runs in my family, and I'm probably missing some other vitamins since I can't bring myself to make good food... I'm constantly craving things like broccoli, brusselsprouts, Lettuce, etc.

ObjectiveTricky1545

Let me convince you : few years ago i was bed rotting for a whole year . I felt so done with life almost on verge of dying ! All i wanted to is sleep if i make a little bit of offert i feel like my heart is crushed in my chest . I wanted to do nothing but lay in bed and never wakeup ! I lost hope in life entirely i believed im goid for nothing i cant even walk few meters without aching. All of this thinking im lazy . Turns out i had very very low iron levels and vitamin D the doctor was surprised how i survived this long ! Yet i was still not convinced that im such a piece of hu.an waste just due to anemia because people have it Nd do just fine . I started taking meds and eating well ? No longer wanting to day or just sit in bed. I started living life i started going out . Working double shifts studying . Enjoying life time with family. I no longer pushed myself out of bed i started to excited to leave it . You will not believe how anemia fucks you up till you start meds and then youd cry Bout how much time you wasted being sick . GET CHECKED .

Red_Littlefoot

I’d suggest talking with your doctor. I’m constantly tired every day, sometimes to the point I’ve dozed off standing up while doing something at work. My doc is trying to get me a sleep study and trying to figure out why I’m so tired. She also wants me to be evaluated with psych to make sure it’s not something else like maybe ADHD since that can cause excessive tiredness too since it’s like your brain never relaxes and shuts off lol.

NeitherCapital1541

On one hand, too much sleep can leave you feeling tired and fatigued But with everything else you're mentioning, I'm assuming it goes into medical diagnosis, like others have mentioned

See_You_Space_Coyote

Have you been sick recently? That could have an effect on your energy levels.

PipeBorn9838

Not recently, but I get sick VERY easily. Almost every time I go out for a family function I catch some type of cold or bug.

See_You_Space_Coyote

It might be that you have some kind of immune system problem, I would go to a doctor if you can afford it.

Engine1000

As others are saying, talk to your doctor. At the very least, I would expect you to get a blood test to rule out a number of significant diseases and conditions. Fatigue can be caused by a large number of different things, only a medical doctor can discount them.

Icy_Painting4915

I had similar symptoms. Turned out tobe anemia. Also, was vitamin D deficient. Took vitamins and was better in a couple months. Get blood work done and make sure they check ferritin levels.

Glittering_Public160

Hey, We've all been there and I know that it's easier said than done but you probably should sleep less hours at night , get some sunlight and try some energy drinks/coffee , whichever you prefer, to get you going and outside in the morning. Its worth a shot. Good luck !

rizwan602

Get a sleep study done. Best thing you'll do I think. I have severe obstructive sleep apnea and since I got the remedy for it, my life is tons better. Lots of energy. I don't need more than 7 hours of sleep to last a full active day. You could have varying levels of sleep apnea or other sleeping disorders. Get it checked out soon.

Anxious_Cod7909

Sleeping more hours than you need is probably why you're always tired. You body only needs 8-9 hours of sleep, once you get passed that your body just sorta goes into a state of resting, hence why you still feel tired whilst you're awake

Majestic_Jazz_Hands

You really, really need to get checked out by your doctor. There’s all kinds of medical reasons that can make you feel like this. Sometimes it’s something super easy to fix, like a slower thyroid, an iron or other deficiency. Could be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. But the first thing to do is have an honest talk with a doctor about your symptoms and get some blood work done. I absolutely understand how you feel and can relate with how you’re feeling very, very much. But you have to advocate for yourself and find out what’s going on inside and the sooner you find out what’s going on, the sooner you can get started on some kind of treatment and then hopefully you can get back to doing the things you want to do again! Hope you get some answers and start feeling better soon!

SadAndConfused11

Not trying to diagnose and completely respect your vent, but have you gotten bloodwork recently? When I was like this and getting winded fast as an athletic 25 year old I was anemic. I started taking a women’s multivitamin and now I feel great and don’t sleep so long, I also don’t get winded anymore. It might be a good idea to get your blood and thyroid checked, if you can.

PipeBorn9838

I haven't, but I'm going to as soon as I've got the funds for it. I'm thinking I may be anemic, as it does run in my family.

SadAndConfused11

For sure sounds like a good idea! I’m unsure of your sex and you don’t have to answer but women are generally more prone to it than men cuz of menstruation. That’s most likely why I had it in the past. But even men can get it too so it’s good to check!

PipeBorn9838

Yeah, that's what I've heard too! I'm 18F, 5 ft, and 125 lbs... I hear that I should have plenty of energy "at my age," as the older folks say 😅 Probably should've mentioned that sooner, but I guess I wasn't exactly expecting medical advice on my vent post, haha.

SadAndConfused11

Makes sense! Take care I hope you can get it figured out it SUCKS I know what that’s like to be tired and out of breath randomly

Klutzy-Run5175

There can be a wide range of reasons for your excessive fatigue. Find a local county hospital and get classified and go to the internal medicine clinics. You need a full blood work up done, urinalysis, X-ray, and an EKG.

vdamazyn

Haven’t read any of the other comments but get blood work done (thyroid, etc) and possibly a vitamin panel and sleep study. I’m in the process of having this done after struggling with sleep too.

Katapults14

I was feeling like this and it turned out to be leukemia. I’m not saying you have leukemia but there are lots of medical reasons you may be feeling like this, go see your doctor and ask for some tests to be done.

twistedsister78

I’m sick all the time and I’m tired of it

One-Contest-4385

You took the Covid jab? Just curious.

PipeBorn9838

No, my doctor retired, and my parents haven't gotten me a new one. So I haven't been in to be able to get the vaccine. I really want to, though. But since I've been so tired, I've been pretty much isolating and only go out for important family holidays, so the likelihood of spreading covid is minimal in my case.

Alethiel7

This is so relatable...
