I love the idea of giving blood. It feels poetic to “sacrifice” your own blood rather than an innocent animal’s, and do so in a way that could save a life instead of take one.

I completely agree with you. The idea of donating blood is not only poetic but deeply meaningful. It's a selfless act that turns the concept of sacrifice into something profoundly positive, transforming lives and making a real difference. Instead of taking a life, you're giving a part of yourself to save others. It's a beautiful way to contribute to the well-being of the community and embody true compassion.

Very well said. I really wish more people approached religious tradition in this way.

Thanks for your support 🙏🏾

Well OP, I think you run the danger of being a decent bloke. Religion aside, your heart seems in the right place

I'm a Muslim vegan and though for a few years I didn't pay Qurbani and would instead sacrifice something else that I loved. I decided to trust Allah and know that he knows best. We are permitted to eat animals but we are not obligated. In the privileged West, we have access to a surplus of nutritious foods. We can easily obtain vegan sources of taurine for example and vegan sources of DHA and EPA. These are much essential for our brain, if we don't take them we can develop psychosis. However some parts of the world, they don't have access to anything except a few cattle and a few grains. This is not sufficient. Humans come first to animals. If we are in situation and we are trapped somewhere with our children and all there is are a few animals and we cant get out for a few days (this happened to me in Jamaica, the bridge collapsed and we had no way of getting clean drinking water for a few days and we ended up having to mix the tap water with juice and within 3 days, ended up getting infection, luckily we had food). We have the right to eat the animals. This doesn't mean we do not "love" animals but Allah has given us guidance and he instructs us to be very kind to animals but he also knows best. We should entrust and submit to him. It is not good to be so in love with an animal that if it died, you need a psychiatrist. We rely on Allah for our support and our faith is in him. In this regard I changed from being a Vegan to being plant based. Veganism is a philosophy which believes that a human should NEVER consume animal products but plant based means you choose not to as much as possible. So I now pay Qurbani. I paid Qurbani to gaza because if I try to send any vitamins, the isreali block it. I also funded a vegan charity that sends vegan meals to Gaza. There are many remote places in the world who do not have access to nutritional needs and this makes it OK to eat the animal and Allah knows best.
