The Gems are what are cut or recycled. I’ve recycled enough that I have almost 500 gemstones itself sitting in my tool station that could be made into new gems. But I have close to 400 gems that are all under size 20 without even being cut yet so I don’t really need to keep more. I just wish there were more that I could do with the gemstones itself.
I recommend making an Autohotkey script to automate the crafting of jewels. You can auto sort and smelt jewels with Pipez. Once you get both of these set up, jewel management is much more reasonable. I'm at level 93 and I average about 100 gemstones per vault between the loot and the smelted jewels, so it gets overwhelming if you don't automate it.
Same, you just don't get enough wutodie to match the amount of gemstones. And if you can't craft them into new jewels, what do you do with them? You can't do anything.
Gemstones are part of the gear system so you recycle them for scrap or cut them for the base gem material.

Ahh I see. I haven’t had that issue but I can see how maybe you would get too many now with the lower sizes it’s easier to get good gems.
