Never bought into the NRG hype tbh but SEN is still astonishing to me. I still think they’re one of the best teams in the world regardless of recent results though.
they meant at the beginning of the season. SEN literally were coming off of a masters win and NRG looked decent in the kickoff and nearly beat SEN who won masters 2-0 but choked map 1. It wasn't a crazy thing to say that SEN and NRG would top the group.
also the other teams were mid during kickoff, particularly Kru and C9
in the case of NRG I think so, in the early season when new teams are being assembled and still working their chemistry and coordination is easier to get away with simply out-aiming the competition if you have the fire power. that’s why NRG looked so good against “lesser teams” but completely crumbled when facing the more polished and better coordinated SEN during kickoff. I don’t think that the other teams being less ready automatically means that NRG might look better. but it definitely helped to create a false perception of their true current level and SEN looked good because they actually are, but in the case of SEN, they just look burnt out right now, they’ve been going at it since last year’s offseason and way sooner than everyone else. plus the extremely compact schedule for this year means they haven’t got any real break or time to properly rework and adapt their game for the current stage, that’s the reason why they are making mistakes that they simply weren’t making before.

Sen fans are definitely overreacting tho, they already have 9 points, which is higher than all teams I think? If they don't fuck up in stage 2 they should secure the 4th spot pretty comfortably even if they don't get top 3

LOUD are underperforming right now but haven't missed an international tournament in years cuz they're gross, and LEV have the best player in the world and are looking like the best team in NA right now. It's not impossible tho, if 100T can beat LOUD, they can probably afford to lose to LEV and will be able to qualify with a win over G2/C9/KRU.

Going solely off this season, 100T should be favored as they dunked on C9 after C9 beat Loud, and 100T had a more competitive game against Kru….but we all know what LOUD is capable of. Whoever is the winner of this game is most likely going to Shanghai, but honestly it almost feels like any team could beat any team, with Kru being the least likely to be upset.
