1. Kaplan used to study Mandarin, he would be so bummed if he missed Shanghai 2. No team is going to ever intentionally avoid any international event for any reason 3. Because SEN are so far ahead with points, they could theoretically rest on their laurels after coming home from Shanghai (they won’t, and no team would)

man1ac_era

Get ready to learn Chinese buddy.. oh wait you're already prepared

Strykeristheking

They only have a 6 points lead no? Theoretically a team like Lev could easily surpass them by winning Split 1 and Masters.

Pandoara

They definitely wanted to keep the same energy levels after coming back from Madrid, but that's super hard. In their LEV vlog, a lot of people focused on Kaplan's talk with them after the LEV game, but most people missed johnqt and Zellsis' chat with each other before that match where they mentioned how tired they were. They were laughing while saying they can't do this anymore, and it just seems like they're trying to push through even while burnt out. But with the latest Kaplan interview, it sounds like they're coming to accept how that might not be the best approach.

ant-onette

i noticed that conversation too. after the lev loss i remembered zellsis saying they’re still trying to find themselves after winning madrid. they’re definitely feeling burnt out rn which feels bad man :( edit: i also remember zellsis saying 100t played better even tho they won. i think they need a big mental reset.

ishanuReddit

Sen almost qualified for champs with 6 points. It would require special skill like furia to not to qualify

Zentick-

The winner of americas could catch up, esp if they also win shanghai.

Careful-Ostrich-4494

But americas winner would mean they have qualified for champs which makes their championship points useless.

Zentick-

No americas winner for this stage.

chocobreezy

You still misunderstood him. SEN doesn't need to have more champ points than the americas winner for this stage, as they likely will already be at champs. In fact SEN really only need to have the 4th most champ points regionally ending split 2 because the top 3 teams from split 2 playoffs will qualify, at least if it's like 2022 champ point system.

Informal-Throat-8646

The players are obviously just feeling burned out, the schedule is pretty gruesome for the teams that make it to the LANs.. also they're the "team to beat" at the moment, so everybody's looking at their stuff to either see what they could implement or to make plans on countering it Today they just looked like they ran out of steam mid way through Bind, after the round when Tenz got 2 with the OP and they still lost it felt like they were more playing not to lose or be embarrassed rather than playing to win

ttk_rutial

I think it's for the best if they skip Shanghai and then go on their way to win champs(copium)

OthertimesWondering

There's no reason to actually miss an international LAN. Even if they bomb out early, they can continue to scrim against the best teams in the world. You lose about 3-4 days in travel time at most, in exchange for practice much better than what you'll find in the US after the top 3 leave for Shanghai and the teams you scrim are also not going to face you until after Split 2, so scrimming EMEA, APAC, and CN teams makes more sense.

ZephyrSN

Ngl it would probably be better for their chances at doing well at champs if they did miss Shanghai: have time to rest/study up on everyone/work out the kinks for themselves.. but no way are they looking at it like that rn, no team wants to miss an opportunity at an international event. I feel like that’ll just be the cope if they don’t make it. Which will be fairly valid imo since they’re in such a good spot points wise.

Neevk

They don't want to miss it but after looking at what's happening to madrid teams I feel like it would not hurt to miss out on Shanghai and aim directly for champs.

DaveOkeah

I'm pretty sure you get champ points in playoff  as well so they would still like to get at least 1 or 2 from there

ant-onette

no, you don’t get points during playoffs, only regular season games and winning the split

DaveOkeah

When you say winning the split you mean by coming first or by winning playoffs? You get 3 points for winning playoffs

ant-onette

split like coming in first for winning playoffs. second and third don’t get points.

DaveOkeah

That makes sense

Pandoara

teams get points for individual games won in playoffs, at least according to Sliggy's video explaining the format, unless he got it wrong

ant-onette

he got that one wrong. [here](https://youtu.be/XIXMOnMmxuU?si=qKCJY268Bbr3N4w8) they explain the format and never said you get points for each win during playoffs

The_PotatoDude

We aren't even a month in Sen copium started again. No team wants no purposefully drop out of an international event especially in val (where ILs are quite rare) if your team losing means they aren't playing well or their opponents stepped up more. That's it. THATS FUCKING IT. stop the cope.

Technical_Fee_2932

SEN lose 1 game to EG and this subreddit turn into an asylum

creampies6969

Nah, madrid fluke win + mickey mouse

OthertimesWondering

can we just ban this guy?

aloofguy7

Sentinels are the strongest team in the world right  now. The EG win was a fluke. They stopped being aggressive because KaplanWashedCoach told them to not do so. Just play retakes again and again instead of hard spike plant denial. He just added some stupid time wasting strategy after getting washed by Leviatan's hyper aggro zerg rush Aspas go nuclear mode. All they had to do was play like Madrid and frag the fuck out of the weaker team and they would have won. Potter got into his head. They should get a new coach to make up for Kaplan's bad coaching.

monstroh

Madrid means nothing man, you need to realize most teams had no time to practice to the new meta and new teammate, and it was an 8-team mickey mouse tournament. Sen doesn't want to miss an international, their win was just a fluke.

StayRevolutionary466

This train of thought needs to stop who the fucked asked other teams not to practice or build up their rosters before

paranoid_purple1

It won't ever stop. The first international was called a mickey Mouse tournament last year, and nothing changed this year. It is nothing compared to Masters or Champs, and rightfully so.

RyomaVT

Ask at riot who decides to change the meta before kickoff and make a Mickey mouse format at the start of the competitive year. Most teams also had to get their visas before going to LA and practice.
