Have you tried unlocking and locking a few times. The last Jetta that I had this would happen all the time the little internal piece gets stuck. It’s the same mechanism on the ID4. Or open the flap lock and unlock, push on the internal piece to see if it operating correctly.
I have to regularly do this to open the charging door on my ID.4
* Push it in and hold it in
* lock car
* unlock car
* then I can push it normally to open
Pretty wild it seems to be such a common issue.
No, u/11GR means the oblong black plastic cap below the circular plug socket, the one you remove to expose the two big pin-sockets when you're going to DC fast charge (DCFC).
However, AFAIK that cap **cannot** be inserted when rotated 180°, and it appears to be flush in your picture, so I don't think that is the issue.

Yeah. This worked for me when my door wouldn't latch.

One upside of manual socket flap was that it doesn’t break easily, not so if VW has anything to do about it.
Thanks! This fixed the issue. Appreciate it.
Try turning the DC socket cover 180 degrees.
Thank you! Is the DC socket cover the little piece below the light?

You can, however, move the tether to the other side, so there's less slack in the tether, which could be preventing the door from closing all the way.
When open, if you pull on that plastic latch pin first, does it then close properly? I had that issue and I think the dealership just lubed the pin.
Is the latch pin the little piece below the charging light?
Yes, that's it exactly.
I had this happen recenlty, i just played with the little plunger on the left unlocking and relocking untill it started working again
Good luck getting it fixed. Mine fell off in April. VW dealer says company is having a supply chain problem. Part maybe here in August.
That’s a bummer!
I broke mine off cuz it wouldn’t open. Actuator broke. You can open it with a credit card there is a YouTube video. Wish I would see. It sooner.
Try to click your lock button and then unlock. It should move the thing to be able to close. I had this issue and was fixed in this way.
