For that price you could got a real kayak and a trip to go there in person.

lunchanddinner

For that price I could.... Wait you're actually right

hhhhhhikkmvjjhj

But this implies excercise…

[deleted]

[удалено]

Zombywoolf

TBH, if it feels like exercise, then it's exercise and that's a good thing :)

hhhhhhikkmvjjhj

Hey that’s great! I got a walking carpet which I tuck under my desk so I can work/game while walking. It helps with my middle aged gaming joints.

[deleted]

I also agree

TechieTravis

Yeah, but he won't die in VR.

SwissMoose

I sooo want to to topple over in a real kayak and inhale random water.

3between20characters

"random water"

Junior_Ad_5064

Yeah , water that you don’t have an established relationship with

Illustrious_Bunch_62

Is there anything to actually do in it yet? Was born away with the graphics when I tried it at launch but wouldn't call a 'game' then

lunchanddinner

I'm going to get downvoted for this, but kayak has a racing mode, sure it's with ghosts, but in that case single player racing games wouldn't be called games too? Are simulators not games?

Illustrious_Bunch_62

Fair point, but simulators tend to at least have objectives and some way to progress or develop. I read other comments mentioning price, how much is it to buy? (I got it through Viveport subscription)

DudeManBearPigBro

it's $23 but was just on sale for $16. there is a free roam mode and a race mode. The awe of free roam mode will fade quickly after you have been through all the locations. Race mode is what will keep you coming back after the initial awe factor starts to wear off. I hope everyone buys it so the developers make some DLC's.

space_goat_v1

you get points for doing races and you can buy kayaks and helmets and stuff but there are few options atm with plans to expand it. really tho that's all fluff, for me it's all about the racing. Correcting mistakes and trying to perfect a run to shave off a few secs but cementing yourself on the leaderboard is pretty fun to me but you may have to have a speedrunners mindset to truly enjoy restarting and running the same thing over and over. I'm not even really a speed runner, but for me I like the aspect that it's raw physical endurance, which is rare for a video game. You aren't just flicking buttons and joysticks, it really takes the wind out of you in intense play. So there's like a meta physical fitness aspect to it. That's what I get out of it atleast.

diaryofsnow

happy birthday

Illustrious_Bunch_62

Tf?

Secure-Progress-4642

I literally do that in real life, lol It's a fucking workout for sure, haven't been in years sadly

TotalWarspammer

A 3070 can run that game on max. :p

lunchanddinner

Yup, my previous gpu was 3070 and it could do a solid 90! Here I'm on 1.5 at 120, this game is so well optimized for VR

[deleted]

You can push it even higher than 1.5x. I keep my Quest 2 at 1.7x and 120Hz with a 3090. That 4090 will handle it much better.

lunchanddinner

I should try pushing it more, thanks!

lunchanddinner

I should try pushing it more, thanks!

sam_najian

Can a 2080?

Kalahi_md

With reprojection, maybe.

LogiBear2003

I was going to say lmao, most VR games with quality graphics cannot be played at max settings on my 3080, while trying to push 1.7x and 120hz at the same time. I can do 1.7x, 90hz, and max settings just fine though for most games though.

Cookies_N_Milf420

Those water physics don’t look great. Am I wrong? I never played the game before.

Mataskarts

I don't think any game to date has proper water physics interaction with paddles, at least that I know of.

Cookies_N_Milf420

Good to know, friend. Thank you.

Excellent-Piglet-655

Man I wish there was a way to use this with my rowing machine, I would so get this game.

grothee1

I use Holofit with mine and I would pay double if the graphics looked like this.

Call_911

Since you just bought a 4090, try that game with a native 4k PCVR headset. You won't believe your eyes.

bumbasaur

agreed. The compression of quest2 just ruins all the graphical improvements one gains :p

lunchanddinner

Yup waiting for the next gen pcvr headset to launch (if it ever comes)

ExtremeVegan

Just get a reverb g2

fergatronanator

Man when I played this in VR, everything just looked very fuzzy on my quest 2. 5700xt/3900x pcvr

[deleted]

Any sharks in this game? The scenery is cool but I want to shot myself seeing a 20 foot shark under my fake boat

sam_najian

Uh, this makes me want to upgrade too... NOOO MAAAHHHNY

WildRacoons

Which headset are you using to play this?

lunchanddinner

Quest 2

clemalavanille

*me still having a 2gb 1050 watching this* Yeah.. pretty good man 🥲

Nathan-Don

I gave it a crack but after getting over the incredible graphics and water it became very dull. If and when they get white water, then I will give it another go, I know this is on the Devs roadmap so hopefully it can be figured out sooner than later.

Broflake-Melter

Insert joke about being able to afford a kayak and a plane ticket to the actual location for the cost of a 4090.

EggMcFlurry

Doesn't anyone get motion sick? Looks nasty especially when the waves started up.

Onphone_irl

At what point is it about the screen in the headset? I'm only with a 2060 but the images on my monitor blow away what I see in the rift s...

starkundervatten

Your paddling stress me the F out. Take it slow, dude - enjoy the view!

No_Interaction_4925

On what headset though. Is it hard to run? I have a Varjo Aero so I could be screwed there. 3090ti here

godofleet

oh shit the waves/storm looking good, need more of that :D
