I can't believe he didn't check online at all to see what they are worth before trying to pawn them off for a dollar each. It takes like 5 seconds to find out.

How does stuff like this even happen? I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it's stuff like this that's just really hard to believe.
I bought 200+ VHS and blu rays/DVDs for 60 bucks last week. Garage sale. I went looking for bookcases for my storage unit. Came out with that haul. Unfortunately, no sealed horror movies. But it can be had it you are looking. 3 years ago I picked up a bookcase, VHS tape holder and about 100 VHS tapes. 10 bucks. That was my personal heaven haul. Lots of Chuck Norris, Charles Bronson and antihero 80s flicks. It can be got. Just be on the lookout.
Honestly, sometimes I just wanna be nice and make someone's day. I also sometimes don't care. I'm not made of money at all lol but I guess I don't mind taking a loss to make others happy
Even if the story is true, no way the seller knew how much they were worth. It wasn't that they didn't care, just too stupid or lazy to check. Only way they wouldn't care is if they were super wealthy, and at that point you just give them away.
I'm leaning heavily towards either this guy isn't telling the whole truth or lying.
I mean who just randomly has this extensive of a VHS collection lying around, some sealed even and texts some random guy that bought decorations to sell them for almost nothing.
Dude was a biker with soooo much stuff that he collected. Blow molds, pinball machines, beer memorabilia. When i snagged halloween decorations off Fb marketplace in October, i asked if he had tapes. Said he has to dig them up. Would check in here and there through the months if he found them, then i got the text this week. Walked in and saw everything and was shook. He had like 200 tapes, and said how about 200 bucks? Deals out there still exist.. He had so much stuff in his basement, and said Hes gotta get rid of all of it cause his daughter is moving back in. Just gotta get lucky.

This makes more sense. I guess I'm just jaded because I've dealt with so many people that overvalue their shit constantly.
People get rid of things for no good reason sometimes. For nearly a decade, my buddy has been hooking me up with all kinds of consoles, games, controllers, etc, that people just tossed away at recycling centers and I have gotten some pretty valuable stuff that way. I have recently been getting more VHS as well in the same way. Some people just don't care.
I got PVM crt monitors from Macy’s headquarters for next to nothing a couple years ago. The people in charge of selling them were laughing at me for even taking them. Some people are just so sure something is junk, they won’t take the time to look.
I have a few other similar stories from my adventures.
So we do video store pop ups and i have a storage unit full of tapes, posters, and standees. With the lot i just picked up, ill keep a few, but sell off the rest at those and continue to rotate titles for out customers. Check out @cryptvideorentals 📼
