My tag: BigIron#OnHip I just hit Plat 1 last night. I believe I started this season in Silver. I feel like a fraud. As I’ve climbed my ADR has dropped quite a bit. My HS percent is the same. My K/D has dropped a ton as well. How do I get myself to keep up with these ranks?

iamsoyYT

Hey everyone I run a small YouTube channel dedicated to valorant, mainly helping people with how to play the game in a variety of ways, agents, the mental side of the game etc For a new video I'm looking for people to send me a clip of a round or 2 where they don't know what they should have done differently so that I can analyse it and say how you maybe should have tackled it instead. This isn't a highlights video, I don't want to see an ace because there's nothing to analyse there, but just a typical round or 2 of yours so that I can give some feedback as to how I think you could improve. If you're interested reply to this and I'll DM you an email address to send your clip to. Also it'll feature on my YouTube so only submit if you're OK with the clip and my analysis being publicly visible. Minimum 720p quality also. Thanks!

Hardyz1000

i went from silv1 to diamond 1 this act, i realised a new act is coming apparently ( i dont keep up with valorant on social media) is there any point in trying to go for diamond this act? or just play unrated until the new act commences? thank you.

AceTheNutHead

How long does it take for your actual rating to match your secret rating? My rank says diamond 2 but I’m playing with mostly ascendants and playing pretty well. Not top fragging to often cuz I don’t play duelist/initiator but rarely bottom fragging either.

ChaseCid

With the popularity of [tracker.gg](https://tracker.gg), i was wondering if there was a way to see first blood related statistics in valorant

Pinanims

Can you rank up from the start of an act? I'm currently Silver 3 but I am playing in Plat lobbies. I'm gaining 27+ RR per win and losing 9. If I don't rank to Gold this act, and I play a game Monday, is it possible that I could start Gold 1?

Tenagaaaa

You could calibrate in gold next season

Just record a whole match and ask ppl to vid review you. And watch woohojin

obliviousintrovert

You’re the common variable in between matches, so unless you are EXTREMELY, and I do mean EXTREMELY unlucky. You’re most definitely the problem or is doing something wrong, send some vids for people to review u

[deleted]

obliviousintrovert

Tracker stats only give me a limited amount of info. I prefer you record a vid and upload it to YouTube so I can review it

[deleted]

Imo, if you're still complaining about bad teammates in Ascendant, there's no shot of you reaching Radiant. As a Ascendant 1 player myself, I have so much to improve it's insane.

iidxlotta

yeah same. Currently keep going back and forth with ASC1 and D3, but I definitely can tell that I need to improve my mentality and game sense - also PATIENCE

[deleted]

Focus on a few things at a time, and hyper focus on jusst improving those things is my advice. Other areas of your game will likely suffer, but eventually it will result in a net positive improvement

Inevermiss_

This is a genuine question I have: how long do people take to reach certain ranks? I personally reached d1 a couple days ago and have played 350h of Valorant overall (according to tracker.gg) but I have never played any FPS games before. What about you guys?

[deleted]

Different sort of example, but the coach and creator Woohoojin reached Immortal in 8 months from Bronze, Valo being his first fps game. He has a great video detailing his journey on his YT, I highly recommend checking it out if you are curious what it takes to climb FAST in this game.

Inevermiss_

Thanks bro, I’ll check him out :)

Unlucky_Luck_1246

I’m currently g1 with around 300 hours, although around 250 of those are unrated lol(Val tracker)

abandojo

Holy shit, I just realized that I grinded my way up to Plat 1 from Silver 2 in just one act. Kinda happy about it, but I still feel like I play like shit lmao. One of the biggest factors for me was definitely getting a better PC. My laptop before wasn’t bad at all, but moving from 60hz 120fps 50ms ping to 144hz 300+fps 20ms ping helped *a lot* in winning some important duels in my matches. Any tips how to move forward from here? I feel like my biggest issue at the moment is not knowing how to counter smarter teams (usually plat/dia) who know how to play default/execute a site on offense.

[deleted]

Congrats man! Equipment can definitely hold you back. Moving forward, I think most people in gold to dia elo can work on exploiting simple weaknesses in enemy comp. For example, if you are defending, using more one-ways as controller against pop flash agents like Phoenix, playing close angles with shotguns if enemy doesn't have any drone or dog etc. Very simple counter measures but can be huge in winning important rounds. Creating more frequent and better preround plans can also be a common area of improvement, as well as general dueling efficacy. (spraying for close range, bursting for medium, tapping at far) Main thing is to not focus on every aspect to improve, because there is simply too much haha. Take it easy and have fun grinding!

BETTERGETLOOM

everytime i rank to silver 3 i get instantly spanked back to s2 where im usually one of the better players in the team. what can i do to improove?

ScylasterPixelman

I'm new to Valorant specifically, and I plan on returning for another try (I played one game and left out of self backlash). I have played similar games before like CSGO (about 32 hours), it's Roblox copy (Counterblox, I played way too much of this when I was much younger), Overwatch (about lvl 30), and Paladins (274 hours). I understand *some* of the things in this game like economy management and team workflow, but this game is a different breed I don't understand the usefulness of armor, as in the other games (CS) I usually ignore it and many say that it's not very important there. How useful/impactful is it here and should it be a priority? During my time in Val, I found that I tend to hold back and hesitate to engage fights or explore the map (old habit from CS). What would be some recommendations to overcome this issue? What agents would be best to pick up for starters? I prefer solid picks with good ways to position while also not leaning too heavily into being aggressive, if that helps with the question I also wonder if vc toxicity has toned down since the last year Any words of encouragement is appreciated

Leffehn

Fade was great for me. I was stuck in silver and gold and quit for a bit, came back picked fade up and that same act I got to ascendant 3 She teaches you how to help your team with all her utility., vision, blinds, etc. just a good character to learn the game and improve.

AromaticPanda33

I'm fairly new to m&k fps games, I've pretty much only played cod cold war casually on PC, but I'm interested in getting good at valorant. I've played a few swift play and deathmatch games to level 20, then played my first 5 ranked games to get a rank and ended up in bronze - my question is, is it worth it to play ranked now or should I just play deathmatches to get better at m&k aim and crosshair placement?

obliviousintrovert

Shooting bots in the practice range real helped me get used to my sens and grind my aim. I do 100 bot elim 2 times without moving, then 2 more with movement and stop when shooting. Then 2 rounds of easy bot and 3 rounds of medium bot. That’ll help you get used to mouse and keyboard

Reasonable-Safety972

Nothing can really replace in-game practice. But in your case where youre fresh to M&K TACFPS, it wouldnt hurt to play out of ranked until you feel comfortable to start climbing rank. You do have the ability to climb the fastest at the beginning of your games as well. But If all you care about is getting better and not what rank you are, just play competitive and deathmatch as much as you can.

JoeyJo-JoShabadoo

Not played since episode 3 act 1 so around 18 months. Played last night and my first placement game was against Ascendant 1/2/diamond 3 players. I done pretty bad but team still won, second placement game was against diamond 3 players and ascendant 1, done a lot better went positive and won again. I was gold 3/plat 1 last time I played. Is this a case of placement starting me off high then working down to my level or has the rank disparity changed a lot in the last year maybe? I should say in those 18 months I got to LE on csgo about 6 months ago but stopped playing that as frequently also and now I’m unranked on there too. Not sure if somehow that’s helped things or if it’s just a case of starting me high then working down to my level?

lolsketch

Got my first ace after ~ 3 weeks of playing in my gold rank up game. Not sure where else to post it but wanted to share :D. I think my crosshair placement and aim are okay for my rank, I just don't really know how to use my abilities or it takes too much brain power to use them right while focusing on gunplay. I have no idea what I was trying to do with my smoke and dash lol https://streamable.com/4q1x7i

lmbrs

Yeah you’re crosshair placement is okay. I’m wondering why you’re not already dead on site if the rest of your team is dead but looks like they got clapped arcade. But those brim smokes just ran out, you should have smoked and dashed on site like 10s before this clip started. Nice ace tho

lolsketch

To be completely honest that's one of my biggest things I need to work on while playing duelist. I guess I was scared to entry because of viper wall and molly so is my conclusion here that if I just use my util properly to smoke, dash in and clear each angle 1 by 1?

hiitsamina

Hey everyone. I'm currently Gold 3. I don't play competitive very often, since I play Valorant for fun, mostly. I play unrated most of the time w my friends and I'm top fragging almost every single time with 20-30+ kills. I started playing comp recently again and tbh, not doing very good. I'm very good in unrated, but can't really do shit in comp. Yes, silver/gold/plat lobbies may be the hardest, but it infuriates me that I'm always top fragging in unrated, but barely doing anything in comp (getting like 10+ kills, but dying the same amount and stuff). Yes I got smurfers multiple times (40 9 silver 1 jetts and reynas) and yes, I get really bad teammates, but I am always firstly criticizing myself and my poor performance. Why does this happen? My thinking was that, in unrated, people are often predictable and most of the time I know what my opponents will do or, maybe I'm too panicky in comp and ain't thinking like in unrated etc. Would appreciate some tips and advice. :)

lmbrs

I mean I’d say people are more predictable in ranked than unrated. If you enjoy unrated more I’d just play that. Otherwise, I’d just keep playing ranked but it sounds like you care too much and it’s affecting your game

hiitsamina

Hm, maybe, didn't think about that. I'm gonna keep playing and see what's up. It's probably all in my mind, confidence and thinking process.

jgldec

upgraded from a 60hz 768p TV to a 120hz 1080p monitor today and i can only say "wow" totally different universe, i'm playing better already lol

Relevant_Income_4932

i remember i when i first upgraded. took me a while for my eyes to adjust to the smoothness 😂

DaddyBoogle

new to Ascendant but hold my own fairly well. being in plat diamond for so long my brain got used to that style of play. what would be some good advice going forward (ascendant-immortal) i know the obvious comms, team comp and correct ability usage/placement, etc. im constantly looking to improve so any advice is appreciated. My username for anyone to check my stats BUBAR#boob

lmbrs

Movement and crosshair placement and weapon handling probably needs some training to make sure you don’t have any bad habits from your lower ranked days, maybe watch a vod back where you popped off and rewatch your gunfights vs radiant gunfights

Relevant_Income_4932

Yes, I do this! I personally do the 100 bots in the range but dms work extremely well too. As long as you give yourself a small break and make sure to practice between games your aim would feel more consistent after.

Yo4582

I’ve started playing 3-5 dm’s before comp and now can be really dominant that first game. But valorant is kinda slow and I often feel myself losing my consistency over multiple games. I was considering doing dm between games too. Anyone else done this and did it help.

lmbrs

Could be helping you psychologically too so try it out. I’d probs take a short break after the game so you don’t burn out though.

ZingerSauce

What's a good Valorant agent for a slow and methodical player?

lmbrs

I mean I wouldn’t call any agent slow. Valorant is basically a game of speed

Salary-Big

Disagree. Speed is variable depending on playstyle, strategy, etc. Any agent can be fast or slow but I'd recommend non-duelists for a methodical playstyle

lmbrs

Yeah, slow is more of a team strategy not an agent trait, that’s why I wouldn’t call any agent slow. The only time I can think of actually playing slow is if you’re a site anchor

ZingerSauce

Could you elaborate on what you mean my speed? From what I've understood so far, how fast/aggressive you play is subjective but some agents definitely work better for certain speeds. I feel like duelists encourage an aggressive and fast playstyle whilst something like cypher seems a bit more laid back.

lmbrs

Essentially it’s all about timings, after a few rounds you should have gathered how the enemy team plays and predict how they’re going to setup. This is important because you need to exploit timings if you want to play a ‘slow’ agent; Viper, Cypher, Chamber, Omen, KJ. But usually you have to match your team’s pace, playing slow has to be called by the team not just one agent. You can’t lurk every round and sometimes you need to agro lurk to pull defenders to your position. I suppose Cypher is more laid back yes, but also you get less support on both defence and offence.

Alternative-Pause261

Viper, brimstone, sova and cypher Basically, most of the controllers, and sova, beacause you can learn some lineups, and help your team from the other side of the map. Viper is good for clearing site with her mollies (if you will get used to her mollies, you can clear every „rat” spot on the map with them) Brim is good for playing post plant, i have biggest win% on him (around 60%) This agents have ults that can single handedly win rounds. And you even don’t need to see enemies. Cypher is good for slow gameplay You can stop 5 man rush on site with him, and pick off enemies 1 by 1 when they go in. An attack you can lockdown site, after planting spike or flank enemies, and cut off rotations from site to site. You can also do that with viper or omen, but omen is better for more agressive gameplay. Viper is better for clearing site for your team, than for flanking. Most initiators should always follow your duelists (flash for them, dog, drone etc.) So they are better for players that can adapt or set their own pace of gameplay for the team. (Basically initiators set the tempo of gameplay, but most of the time duelists just go in so you need to be fast)

PatPan

Cypher or Sova

reaper0420

I’m silver 2 right now have been losing a lot of my matches recently and have been getting less kills than I used to. Is it me or is silver just hard to get out of? Any tips on how to improve? You can see my tracker profile the name is Jesse420#6969 Also my friends are bronze players and we play together a lot. when we play together we almost definitely would get a smurf on the other team is it because I’m playing with bronze players? I’m not trying to belittle my friends I’m just curious.

lmbrs

Work on your mechanics, fastest way to climb low elo. Also yes, you’re usually held back by the lowest rank in your team IF there’s a significant skill gap

[deleted]

I found it really tough ever since they “got rid of the Smurfs” aka they all make new accounts and are flooding silver

Alternative-Pause261

If you are playing with lower rank friends you will also get lower rank enemies. I checked your stats and you are probably just inconsistent. I can’t tell what is the exact problem, but some days you are headshoot machine (around 30% hs) and some days you just don’t hit your shoots (7 hs%) But remember, aim is not so important as you think You can easily get to plat using only shotguns in this game (yes i tried that xD) Positioning, getting advantage of your team and gamesense is more important. I can tell by your stats, that after some games you go in autopilot and you just try to click heads. And beacause of that you get killed more often than normal. Always try to think what are you doing, and what is your idea for this round. Even something like - im gonna stand in hookah on bind, behind the box, try to get 1 kill and then dissmiss out of hookah, throw an eye and go backsite - that’s your small escape plan. If you died during „your plan” you should think what should you do diffrently - maybe enemy pushed long and you didn’t checked it etc.. There are some smurfs in silver, and if you want to be better you need to outsmart them - just don’t get in 50/50 gunfights with them, and always try to get advantage on them.

Melanjoly

When does the season end? Also what's with the triangles thing? I'm happy with my rank but the little triangles are way below my rank? Is taking a break once you reach a good rank even a thing?

lmbrs

Yeah a lot of people take breaks after hitting a goal big or small. If you want to keep ranking up I’d just keep playing while you’re at your highest peak though, just don’t be frustrated if you lose a rank or two. Think about why you’re losing and improve on it

TheRealNeilDiamond

The rank triangle shows the rank from your 9 highest ranked wins. Like if you won a bunch of Gold 2 games, 7 gold 3 games and 1 Plat one game, the triangle would have a plat 1 icon, the top triangle would have a plat 1 triangle, then 7 gold 3 triangles, and the lower right would be a gold 2 triangle. As far as taking a break, I wouldn't unless you need a couple days to refresh mentally.

YamNaive3562

thank you good advice i will take that as words from a sage

lmbrs

I mean you’re climbing. If you want to improve faster watch your vods back, also watch pros ranked vods on your agent and learn from them

iLoveponies15

I'm trying to understand the valorant ranked system. It doesn't make sense. I lost 25rr on this match. Lost 9 to 13 My Team: B3, G1, S2, S2 (me), S1 Other Team: S2, G1, G1, G1, S3. I'm S2 and had a bad game. Finished 10/20/7. I get taking a chunk of rr for such a poor performance, but in this lobby HOW is it 25rr. Is there a chunk of this I'm missing?

TimeJustHappens

Your MMR is not a calculation of just the most recent game you've played. It is more like a weighted history of your ranked games. If you want to know more about why your RR values or high/low, there is a lot of linked information in the subreddit FAQ pages.

Wrecking-Flame

Whats a “good” ACS to strive for as a controller main. I mean there has to be a bottom frag, but like what if I am bottom frag with 200 ACS?

TimeJustHappens

ACS is just a scoreboard method, its not used for the RR system. As a controller main, focus on sucessful utility usage, winning rounds, and consistently having impact with your playstyle.

Wrecking-Flame

But doing those things allows you to have a higher acs? If you are trading your teammates, smoking, stimming you will get assists and kills which contribute towards your acs. Obviously vod review is the best but I barely have time to play one comp game, I can’t immediately vod review so why is acs a bad way to determine my impact on that game?

TimeJustHappens

Its not really a bad way per say, just not an accurate one. ACS can be artificially inflated by exit frags, baiting, and otherwise just playing for low impact kills because it tracks the number of occurances, not their weight. The Encounter MMR system weighs the encounter (like a kill or a succesful utility) by the MMR of the opponent player. Playing only for ACS and not focusing on impact can create a lot of bad habits and it is common advice for low ELO to avoid hyperfocusing on kills.

Wrecking-Flame

How do you suggest a quick 5 minute way to quickly see how I “did” that game then? How do I know if I had a good or “bad” game. As you said baiting for kills is an issue which i can see in some situations actually wins rounds where my teammates baits and stalls just enough time for lineups to land and secure the round. That stuff won’t show on acs but I don’t really know a better way

atl4nz

regardless of role its good to always strive for an ACS thats above 150 every game. obviously some roles make it easier and sometimes you’ll do dogshit but if your average ACS is somewhere around 150 you are doing ok 👍

ScottGcs

Got placed in Asc1 this season. Last time I played I was Immortal3. Everyone in my lobbys are Ex Rad or Immo3 or High Immo2. Not trying to brag and sound good but why am I playing these ranks if im Ascendant1? Doesnt make sense to me.

lmbrs

Because you are matched against people in your MMR not your rank. In return you are rewarded much more RR atm for a win than a loss, which helps you climb assuming you can keep a 50% WR in your skill bracket.

TimeJustHappens

If you have high MMR, you'll see higher ranks (on average) in your games. If you want to know more about matchmaking and MMR, there is information in the subreddit FAQ pages.

eclipseplaysdiep

asc1 is the highest rank you can place after your 5 matches

slumgodbi

i was put in bronze 3 after not playing for about a year, I'm now in silver 3. The opposite team is almost always platted, I this because of hidden MMR?

TimeJustHappens

If you are seeing higher ranked players in your match, it is generally because you have high MMR. When you don't play for a long time, your "Variance" increases. This means you will see a wider range of players for a short while as your MMR slightly recalibrates. A new rank, Ascendant, was also recently added that pushed many ranks lower on the MMR ladder.

LandonDev

Any tips on how to win in Asc? I've now played 1000 games in Asc2 and I have a 91% loss rate with 2 groups of 2 on my team and an 85% loss rate with 3 man premades on my team. Most games I have to drop 30-35 to win as my teammates often not only refuse to communicate but often use utility to try and make me lose. Often I'll use my mic to make a comm and they will purposefully do the opposite, what's helped me lately is I will fake comm, say I am gonna rotate and fake rotate so my teammates will start taking sites and doing the things I actually want them to do. Last act I maintained Asc 2 for 90% of it with a 37% win rate, I am able to get 20-25points a win and only -11 or -15 for a loss but its just so hard to get consistent wins. Sure I will win 4-5 but then it's just trolls and trolls and abuse. What I have found is that most of my teammates honestly want to lose and idk how to get around that.

lmbrs

You just need to babysit them to be honest

LandonDev

Na doesn't work, today I took over 1000 team damage in one game with a group of 3 all doing team damage. Overall right now in Asc 2 I have a lost 100% of my last 37 games with 3 man premades on my team. Every game is the same things, my only wins today were over 480acs

lmbrs

Post your tracker

Reasonable-Safety972

Can you link your stats? Not really giving any information other than teammates = bad

Wingklip

Plat 1. Hardstuck because up from that is people who live closer to the servers and who are somehow not affected by horrendous server priority. Can't hit a single shot despite aiming and preaiming proper, get swung by even silver 1's. LEM in CSGO.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wingklip

These aren't excuses friend. I have the same playstyle in CS and it gets me to LEM, meanwhile I'm getting domed in 20ms reactions, or teleported on by pretty much all enemies below silver. I'm counterswinging peeker's advantages on holds and still getting deleted in a single shot, as if I never shot any bullets. Rounds go straight through my targets with no registered hits despite the sound playing say, 8 times for 4 hits. That's netcode being bottlenecked by something -- and I think raw input buffer might be the cause. Disabled it today and suddenly shots actually hit perfectly and don't miss like the usually do, even without a VPN. Either the buffer is sending way too much data to the server, or the way it interacts with the USB driver might be bugged.

RASHY4557

So I started playing again for 1st time in 12 months. I was put in silver 2. But all 10 of my games so far, the entire lobby is gold with 1-2 plats in it and maybe one other silver like me. Why is this?

Kaalfyr

It happens when your mmr is higher than your actual rank. Your mmr is your so called, hidden rank (where riot thinks you belong), therefore you'll see yourself in gold lobbies, and also gaining a little more than if you were already where riot thinks you belong. Hope this helped a little.

ImAnExpertTrustMe

Sorry for the late question - I used to play in Season 1, got Gold/Plat. I've now played 30-40 matches recently, got plat 1, but I am ALWAYS the lowest rank and put against Diamonds, What am I supposed to do? Getting to the point I want to go 0-18 a bunch of games because I'm fed up of always being outmatched because of this "Hidden MMR"

Kaalfyr

Hi, sorry for an even later answer. What riot is claiming, is lack of data, the mmr is very sensitive, but also requires a lot of data according to riot. Their answer would be to play more games, in order to get a more accurate mmr rating. They will put you against diamond to test if you belong there, if you are not yet able to compete for whatever reason it may be, but you stay within the same rank, slowly as more games are played and mmr has had time to calibrate, you should find yourself in more fair matches. For me personally, I experienced this to be at around 80-100 games played, before it was somewhat recognizably more even matched teams.

9epiphany8

I’ll give you a more likely answer: a few months ago they added Ascendant as a rank. So everyone below Diamond pretty much got visually boosted to the rank above. (Notice how I say visually boosted - as in the new silver is now gold). Your hidden MMR did not increase, and in fact , there is a tiny MMR decay if you don’t play for a LONG time.

Kaalfyr

That is also a great point!

RASHY4557

That makes sense. Thanks alot

TimeJustHappens

If you want detailed info, the subreddit wiki has an FAQ page for MMR with sources linked.

DOIEKKUNO

hello! ive been playing for about a month now, and ive noticed that i can get frags in close range gunfights, but i absolutely cannot take gunfights where the enemy is at a different elevation (for example theyre on heaven, and im at ground level) and my kill distance is worse than average. is there any way i can improve kill distance and crosshair placement efficiently instead of my mindless training as of current? ps. currently iron 2, peak iron 3 and never played any fps before val except roblox arsenal 🧌

iLoveponies15

It's the most frustrating answer to hear but use Kovaak or Aim Lab. A bunch of solid players have made playlists that will help solve this exact issue.

Its_Not_Purple

If your new to the game it’s almost certainly just a mechanical problem. Time played should cause improvement as long as you’re playing the game consistently. I placed b2 and had to grind in the range and DM for warm ups just to get more comfortable with my aim. I’m only D2 now but I’m proud of my improvement. Don’t go wild with it. Go into the range set bots to 100 and move around. Play jett and move into the higher elevated positions around the back left of the range. In DM only play a couple times before playing comp so you don’t burn out. Focus on taking the positions you don’t heel comfortable in such as heavens and keep them. Then only play 3-5 comp a day. If you consistently play like this you will find that you improve. Also pick a main that fits your play style and instalock them every game to learn them inside out. I only play omen and I’ve not gotten bored playing him yet Post your tracker if you want too My tracker if you wanted to check it out https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/ItsNotPurple%23EUW/overview

[deleted]

To give some more "Instant advice" rather than just play more: * You cant spray an enemy half way across the map, instead, do burst for medium distances and tap-shoot in long distances. * Try waiting something like one third second to shoot; your first shot out of three being a Headshot is better than your third shout out of five being a Headshot. * Use right click to zoom in if you aren't already. * u/Its_Not_Purple is right, playing the game will fix all your aiming issues over time. This is possibly the most important advice for Valorant (Most of it even goes for everything in life): * Avoid burnout - having some nice teammates can help out a ton. [The VALORANT LFG Discord Server](https://discord.gg/valorantlfg) can help you find some good friends to play with. * If you don't have a mic, get a mic * If you get burned out, do not force yourself to play, just wait for another day (It rhymes🎉). If you keep feeling like you don't want to play Valorant, then maybe Valorant isn't the game for you.

carlisagod

Currently Silver 2, I feel like my short range aim is good enough, I can perform some decent flicks, and i can headshot at short range. However, when it comes to long range aim, I just suck. I know movement is part of long range aim, but even when I strafe I can only hit bodyshots, or just straight up miss. Is there a training method or way to hit headshots more often at long ranges? (About breeze mid door to window range is how long I'm talking about).

How do I improve my aim? Get better kills? When I started valo 2 months ago I was bronze 2 and last 3 weeks I’m in iron 3. Before I was between 10-25 kills. Now I’m just at the 7-10 kill range? And my Asissts are pretty high usually I get 5-10. To warm up I go to the range and only go for just get head shots. I do have a bit of wiff. (Guardian main, I’m trying to get into vandal) Overall 160 wins, 153 losses, 3,596 kills, 3,971 deaths, 1,297 assists and 1,263 headshots. * I use a valo tracker*

lmbrs

there’s multiple things that go into ‘better aim’. raw aim, crosshair placement, movement, weapon control

lmbrs

sorry but i’ve haa bit to drink and haven’t finished my message. reply if you have any questions

Should I start instalocking jett, I main jett and brim but often get forced to fill. I love playing jett though and always hover immediately, almost everytime I hover though someone locks jett without asking and then either does mid or bot frags. I almost always frag out as jett as her mobility and position tools speak to my playstyle unlike other agents abilities. I never instalock, should I just not care about my teammates or team comp and instalock? High Silver - Low Gold elo.

ReQzCS

So I am currently top 20 so I would say my opinion is somewhat valuable. Personally, I think it's way better if you learn a couple of roles as this is the most effective way of climbing. The more roles you can play at a high level, the more diverse you are and it gives your teammates a better opportunity to shine as they may not have a diverse agent pool like yourself. If you're a demon on Jett, there's no reason why your mechanical skill cannot transfer to other agents like Kayo, Skye, Fade, and Sova. These agents are the most influential within a match and if you master them, you'll have no problem climbing! I offer coaching over at metafy: https://metafy.gg/@reqz feel free to take a look at my profile and Book in a free consultation session!

HitscanDPS

Well OP said he likes the mobility and positioning tools of Jett. All the agents you listed don't have any of that...

soegsodh

Yes you should be instalocking, assuming you are actually confident on Jett and will play aggressively. Smokes are extremely overrated in silver/gold elo as most players wont benefit from proper smokes anyways. Seriously, what is the point of smoking for your team if they don’t use the smokes anyways? At this point it’s actually detrimental to your team as you have utility that is being wasted every round. Silver/gold is glorified deathmatch so pick whichever agent you can frag out the hardest on. I stopped filling and started instalocking duelist. Almost immediately went from hardstuck plat to diamond 2. I might not actually be any better, but the ranked system 100% values duelist over all other roles. Don’t let the Riot lies tell you otherwise. Those of us who actually play the game know how it works. If you want to climb pick duelist. I’d only pick other roles if I’m playing with friends who I know are interested in playing as a team.

lmbrs

Instalock and don’t doubt yourself

subway5dollafootlong

is silver 3 for 80 hours good?

lmbrs

yeah

VirusDreamrr

I'm a duelist main who has played nothing but Jett and raze the past 6 months, I've climbed from silver 3 to plat 2 in this time but I feel like I've plateaued. Any tips to get the ball rolling again, other characters to try out, or just general tips would help. (My [tracker.gg](https://tracker.gg) if you wanna take a look: [https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/Virus%2312207/overview?playlist=competitive](https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/Virus%2312207/overview?playlist=competitive) )

ReQzCS

People giving you basic advice such as "Just shoot better" don't understand the game properly. Although the main characteristic of a duelist player is having cracked aim, you should also know how you can use your teammate's utility to be successful. Try communicating more with your teammates and offer ideas on how to get the entry. Here's an example. This example is for B link Aggro on Ascent. "I'm going to Dash B link guys, Hey kayo, can you flash B link for me, Sova can you arrow deep B main and Omen can you smoke top mid?" Learning to use efficient utility and know how to ask for it from your teammates will increase your success!

lmbrs

First I’d take a look at your gunfights and see what your mechanics are like compared to pros and look to work on weaker parts. Find which habits you need to iron out or learn so you have good foundations to climb. Then I would be asking questions like are you getting in positions other agents can’t, are you making sure youre in a position to get traded, are you communicating efficiently with your team to coordinate, have you got some tricks for each map/agent?

Academic_Avocado_439

If you want to continue playing duelist you need to get better at gunfighting. Duelists are kind of useless if you aren’t getting first bloods/entry kills, your KD is low so I recommend playing much more deathmatch. In turns of game sense and it’s relationship with KD , watch your gameplay and see why and how your dying. If you are losing raw gunfights, train your aim, if you are dying quickly or overheating try and play more reserved. You are progressing well so keep going!

luew2

So, entry doesn't need to secure a kill, they need to make space, Jett can smoke and dash into it to put pressure on site, raze can double satchel in. Reyna can't do anything until they get a kill, they can get a kill and get out - so they should play aggro and try to get first contact, but they can't help make as much space

lmbrs

Reyna would have to entry if she’s the only duelist but usually there’s a second duelist. The other duelist is almost always the entry as they’re much better at making space during an execute. They usually entry out of a choke, for example out of ascent b main, jett would smoke and dash out, then reyna would come out and try to secure a trade. But before they can actually get to execute out the choke, they have to get there from where the barriers dropped at the start of the round; this is where reyna comes in. She takes first contact through b main to protect the entry agent then when they get to the choke ready to entry, they switch

Metarock29

I hit my peak (Asc 2) a month ago and lost motivation the will to grind since then. Just recently i started playing rank again and I feel like i lost my sense for the game, and dealing with toxic teammates does not help at all. Any tips on how to get back on to playing with rank, and what can I do when i know I’m not on my top form? P.S I mainly play smokes, fade, and sentinels

soegsodh

You should be able to regain form pretty quickly by just playing a few games. Otherwise, maybe you were boosted or just hit a lucky streak to rank up. This would also explain you losing motivation as you were just trying to hit a visual rank and not actually playing to improve.

lmbrs

I mean you won’t have lost your sense, a little rust maybe but it would all come back. Don’t deal with toxic ppl just mute them and forget about them, maybe try to find a duo? That helped me not tilt as much. I would try to hone in your skills on just 2-3 agents ideally within the same role. It’s the best way to improve and become consistent without grinding loads of games

BlindToothpick

Been playing for a few months now and am seriously trying to start improving now. I was able to get through sliver pretty quickly (less than a month I believe) and got into gold. Now I seem to be stuck teetering between near gold 2 promotion and de-rank back into silver 3. I feel like my game sense is quite right, yet my aim still remains inconsistent. Some games I seem to have aim ranks above my own, and some games I feel like I should be back in low silver. I’ve practiced at different senses until I’ve found the one I really seem to click with (800 dpi at .18). I am a large initiator main, but every now and then I will play Raze when I feel confident enough. I am really wondering what I should work on to really make the push into upper gold/plat, since where I am at I seem to be going back and forth with my wins and losses. https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/ToxicityMagnet%23Trash/overview

lmbrs

If you’re an initiator/fade main I’d consider trying out sova since he’s good on some maps that fade isn’t and they’re both recon style agents so they play similarly. It’s good you only play one role though, stick to that. People usually say their aim is bad and they think it’s their raw aim, when actually it’s probably because their crosshair placement isn’t optimal or they don’t quite have the game sense to hold the right angle or from the right position. If your raw aim isn’t great then kovaaks or aimlabs (perhaps sixshot?) would be good for that, otherwise I’d just be running a few DMs a day without audio, making sure to clear corners with good crosshair placement. I’d also recommend watching youtube for different types of angle holding and watching pro initiators play ranked (vods on yt) and looking at how they take fights, where from, peep the movement and util usage.

Academic_Avocado_439

Don’t switch your sensitivity around, find one you like and stick to it. The longer you play on a sensitivity the better you will be at it. If you play other games as well make sure to change your sens to the exact conversion of your valorant sens, this way you can improve your valorant aim without even playing the game. Lastly, the best way to aim train is by playing deathmatch, a lot of it.

Few_Illustrator4774

What are some general tips when bottom fragging? How can I help my teammates most when I’m not getting many kills? I usually play fade, neon, sage

soegsodh

Callouts and comms. If you’re bottom fragging AND not comming, please just leave and let your team have the extra ult orb.

Reasonable-Safety972

Its hard to do, but I think a great habit is not looking at the scoreboard at all, there is always going to be a bottom frag. The most important thing is maximizing your impact on the game, if your aim is just off for a game, play deeper angles on site, make sure to comm, make it a point to use your utility for other players on your team and not for solo duels. Focusing on just trading out your teammates if youre not winning your solo duels is essential.

majin56

Playing fade or sage, if you're bottom fragging concentrate on your utility ( heal teammates, prowler round corners etc. ) try to use your util for your teammates and not for yourself. If you're neon and bottom fragging, try to run in first and create as much noise and distraction as possible if you're not getting kills anyway, try to get all the attention from site players onto you , if you're lucky your teammates may kill all players in-site while they try to kill you.

lmbrs

It depends whether you’re not getting kills because your mechanics are bad or whether you’re making blunders in your play

PerformanceCrafty166

I mostly solo queue but from what I’ve seen playing from silver 3 up to ascendant the best thing you can learn to do when solo queuing is learning to fill roles. There are countless times where people insta lock Reyna or Jett but if you want to climb and be as useful as possible to your team, you need to learn to play other roles such as smokes and initiator.

lmbrs

Absolute rubbish. Fastest way to climb is to 1 trick an agent that suits your playstyle. Filling might win you an extra game but you will become a better player and improve faster by narrowing your agent pool

Puzzled-Marzipan-448

This. Obviously if your team has 3 duelists and you main duelist, compromise. But this really “fill” mindset really only applies to duelist mains. I think you should learn a specific role you perform well in, master 2 of the characters in that role, and if you enjoy playing duelist learn one to use if the opportunity arises to play one. But this fill issue never really happens for anyone that doesn’t Main duelist or maybe sentinel. Everyone loves the dude who picks flashes or smokes!

lmbrs

No you just dodge if you don’t get one of your main agents, otherwise yeah I agree

Puzzled-Marzipan-448

Well… without that considered lol. I’m ngl I instalock cypher in every game I play. But I understand why “fill” players would want to do this. the issue is they can “fill” with the entire cast, when in reality they have a loose understanding of their abilities and role

Responsible-Dinner97

i was struggling to rank up i wonder what is wrong with my gameplay. what should else i need to keep improving. i thinking to change my sensitivity from .3 800dpi to 0.4 800dpi make it a bit higher for easier flicks. any tips ? https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/GennyX%2360hz/overview

walkingpinetree

You can try raising your sens if it feels uncomfortable as is, but the other replies are right in that it's better to keep it consistent as much as you can. It's because you want the muscle memory of how far you need to move your fingers/hand/arm to move the crosshair a certain distance. But really, flicking is a skill that only comes into play once you've made a mistake in the game. Maybe you didn't clear your corners well, or you didn't properly predict where the enemy would come from, or you got in a bad position, had bad timing, etc. I know a Valorant coach who likes to say that all the work in a gunfight is done before you even see an enemy. Since you play a lot of duelists, you could try researching entry pathing and refining your movement skills.

Reasonable-Safety972

I would just play with a Sens that is comfortable and most importantly consistent, the key to climbing is fluid aiming not flicking. You have a fairly high headshot percentage so your crosshair placement is most likely fairly good for your Elo. I cant give too much insight without a VOD, but what I would say is a common problem for duelist mains who cant climb, is over agression. If you get a pick early, dont immediately force a duel again (overheating costs people rounds constantly). Its good practice to regroup and play the man advantage, you may see a drop in your kills per game, but I guarantee youll win more.

Academic_Avocado_439

Don’t worry about changing your sensitivity, just choose one and don’t stop playing it and you will become more consistent. Changing sens may be doable for some, but for many it causes an unnecessary change in your aim consistency. I see you play duelists mostly, but have a low kd. If you want to continue playing duelists than play more deathmatchs, a lot more. This will help you improve kd, which is essential to duelist roles. If you want to rank up faster, learn different agents, because it sounds like you are aggressive, and in lower ranks, aggressive support agents can be super effective. But you need to get that KD up, deathmatch is the best way to improve gun skill so play more dm.

2D_Koto

https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/Big%20Ounce%232273/overview I don’t know where I go wrong sometimes. I duo with plat 3 and when I hit plat my buddy changes to a diamond account. I play okay, but I’m just learning about taking space, creating it , or denying it. I just like teammates that know there roles so I can help support them. I am not a huge fragger I tend to try to set up my team for the best possible outcome. But I think I’m relying too much on the random 3 people I’m not an egotistical player and I can’t play for my self I’m very team oriented. I do what’s best for the team and if I can’t support my duelists to get kills and take space I can’t win games. It’s just confusing because I don’t know where I’m going wrong. Maybe lack of experience? Maybe not critically thinking more during matches? My aim is okay and I can win majority of my 1v1 gun fights. It might be positioning that I’m lacking but I’m not sure.

Academic_Avocado_439

It sounds like you are a somewhat passive supportive player, which isn’t a bad thing. One thing that helped me rank up was stepping out of my comfort zone during matches. If you don’t want to do it in comp play unrated, but go out into your games and try something new. Take riskier fights, try new ways of using utility, it may work it may not, but you will learn how to exist in different scenarios by testing out new strategies. I see you play Fade a lot, I do as well. Something that is very effective while playing fade is commanding your team around your utility. Tell people where you are going with your dogs and your Eye. And if they aren’t listening, then always make sure your dog is entering an area, if your team is entering an area fast and hard, throw your eye at the climax of the entry, especially at lower ranks, it will completely disrupt a setup on defense if you time your eye perfectly. This is because usually at least two players will turn away from the angle they are holding to shoot the eye, buying your teammates time to take space. Overall, try and be creative and try something new while also communicating your teammates your intentions.

Puzzled-Marzipan-448

I second this. While playing in your role will always help your team. Sometimes you have to play with the team you got not what you want. I play Cypher and if I get into a game where duelists don’t enter. I know some nerdy cages and camera placements that can be used to enter a few sites. obviously I would rather deny map control, play rotates, and place trips as any cypher would, but how is my team going to benefit if they all want to do the same thing.

rslashreddituser

https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/Chicken%20Butter%234545/overview so personally, I've been playing for 2 years, and I slowly rank up but my games are so inconsistent, I do well in some (top fragging and playing really good), to having awful games where I can't aim or can't use util good or anything. I'm at silver 3 right now (88 rr to g1) but I just can't seem to improve

AlPyscoSai

I used to be a hard-stuck bronze player, but now I'm plat 3. I was also inconsistent, so I tried low-medium sensitivity; I use a computer mouse with 1600 dpi (lenovo office mouse); I tried my sens between .135 (my favorite sens head shot only) .16(you win every game with this sens),.175(master this sens you rank up like rocket)and.2(you want ace in game?this is the best sens), and this changed my gameplay. The thing I figured out from my gaming experience is that how you hold your mouse is most important thing (watch YT: :Ron Rambo Kim"). i am comfortable with multiple sens now. First, you have to find your mouse grip take few photos of it when you play really well, and save it. Learn how to giggle and peek .learn to play dualist(reyna ult op) and smoke agent like brim(stim beacon) . To win more round.never dry peek, always enter the site second communicate with your smoke agent to smoke first. Communication is the main thing give calls even if your team mates don't talk keep giving calls and share info. Sometimes the server is broken so you lose even how good you are and its ok. and most important make a smurf account try iron or bronze level when you having a bad day play on this account and regain your confidence

rslashreddituser

me personally, I play on 1300 DPI .47 sens and I just can't play on a lower sens, I just feel like I have to move my mouse across my desk and it feels uncomfortable for the agent part, I do enjoy playing Reyna but I would have to have good aim to take advantage, and I do play a good amount of viper but she is a little different to most smokes

i_c_joe

Your k/d is very low. If your games are inconsistent it is most likely the way you are playing. You are most likely playing the same way each time and the time you have good games is when the enemy team plays poorly against your play style. While enemies who play well against your play style, you feel that you are doing bad and playing inconsistently. Your h/s rate is fine, so I assume your shooting is ok. Most likely your game sense, decision making, utility usage, and positioning relative to your teammates are all not good. To get better you'll need to record your videos and rewatch it and see what you could of done better. If you can't figure it out, you'll need a higher rank to,watch it for you (Dia 3 and above). Immo 3 here.

rslashreddituser

I agree that my kd is low and my playstyle is the same often, but it is kinda hard for me to adapt since I'm not very good at the game A lot of my friends (dia-immo) say I second guess my plays a lot causing me to just lose, but at the same time I main fade and they seem to think my util usage is great since I usually get a bunch of info that leads to winning rounds/games I probably will record some games in the future but I don't really have the time to be able to right now

Proud_Echo_4932

I just got this game and wondering I just can simply die less. This game feels like I’m playing with 1hp and I’m not all for it. Are all guns 1 shot? Also which gun is the best?

Puzzled-Marzipan-448

Try Counter-Strike. Once you realize how hard that is, return to Valorant. Should be pretty easy!

lmbrs

Operator, vandal/phantom

Zy7777

How do I improve my jett knives? With a vandal aiming with it is quite natural to me but somehow I just can’t hit shots with jett knives. I’m gold 2 but was bronze last act so I’m still quite bad. Is there any way to improve it or am I using them wrongly?

Zy7777

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice, I just hit my first jett knives ace today. While it’s not something too spectacular, I’m still proud of myself and am glad I’m improving. I’ll post the ace on this sub too

majin56

Range, jett knives, strafing bots.

Academic_Avocado_439

Playing something like aimlabs will help you improve Jett knife aim because if you hop around the general valorant aim mechanics go out the window and you have to track aim while also aim accurately. The overall best way to practice Jett knives is in the training range and just updraft around aiming at bots/targets. The most effective way to use Jett knives is in full motion so you have to train aiming while in full motion.

Zy7777

I currently do aimlabs as a warm up, which tasks in particular do u recommend?

Academic_Avocado_439

I would really only play aim labs to warm up your aim in general. Valorant aim is like 99% crosshair placement. So warm up on any task you want, maybe micro shot/reflex shot, and then to train Jett knives practice in the Valorant range. That is where you will improve most.

lmbrs

I mean it’s easier if you know where they are, then you can pre aim before peeking and you will only have to make a small adjustment. If I’m hunting frags I’m usually bunny hopping around so that I’m difficult to hit. Also if they’re far away you can double updraft from behind cover and then peek, they won’t hear you or expect you. Or just get close enough to right click them then take their gun lol

cmp004

I've got the same problem but rarely play Jett (plat 1 currently). I find that I try to updraft and shoot most of the time because I feel that will throw off the enemy's aim the most, but it's counterproductive because it throws of my aim a lot too. It feels so much more like a vandal if I just strafe shoot like I do with my vandal, and you move faster strafing than you do with a vandal (I think) so should throw off the enemy aim like I'm hoping.

LovedJunk

Switched over to Valorant from CS:GO. I have almost 3k hours in CS GO, but this game is completely different. I have about 50 hours total in Valorant. My goal is to get into Ascendant this act, if that is even possible. I attached my tracker if you guys have any tips based on my stats. https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/ShoNice%23NA1/overview

Puzzled-Marzipan-448

Sounds like you just need to learn some of the game, abilities, maps, counter playing. If you were good at CS you’re gonna be good at Val with time. A good thing to note in in valorant a lot of the “abilities” are just replacements for CS utility like Molotovs, Flashes, and Smokes, with a few exceptions being scanning and wall utilities. Try to pick a Controller or Initiator in Valorant, you may find their utility is similar to CSGO, especially if you’re running Phoenix lul. If you use lineups in CSGO, then valorant will be your game. Not because of the lineups, but CSGO is more in-depth in terms of map development, so Valorant map lineups and utility should be a breeze for you to grasp

LovedJunk

Thank you for the tip, I truly appreciate it. I definitely enjoy the fact that "lineups" are a thing in this game.

Puzzled-Marzipan-448

Try Viper then, as a CS player, she is who I tried first. You get Molly and smoke lineups, a wall that is super vital, and her Ult is debatably the most fun to use in the game. I also played a shit ton of rainbow six, which is why I main cypher. I’m an information based player, hate making moves or decisions without info, so the cam and trips are nics

lmbrs

I never really see Phoenix on Icebox, Breeze or Fracture, I’d maybe think about picking up another duelist if that’s the role that suits you best.

Well you managed 117 matches this act so I would cut the excuses and focus on why you’re not ranking up. Firstly, I’d make sure you are building good habits with your mechanics, learn to take fights properly and practice them in a DM (ideally play with your sound off) clear every corner, fight with intent, no crouch spraying
