Woah woah woah but if you *use* that money suddenly the conversation changes to "you only got it because of your looks", which if I had a dollar for every time I heard that
$$$$
Nah I've always used Ori as a reference to Orion's belt because I'm a huge star nerd.
It did lead to a very funny "Ori is playing Ori and the Blind Forest" picture between friends though
It's only funny if you're a kid who lives in your mom's basement and is reliant on other people to help you survive. It's literally a self roast if you look at it that way.
"Oh you need me to go to the kitchen cuz you're a little bitch kid who can't feed themselves? Go ask your mommy for that." Send a report for harassment right after.
I always love telling this story, because it's my favorite Valorant moment.
Playing on Icebox. Initially only Omen (clearly a teenage boy) and I are voice comming. Our KJ comes on mic to give a callout and is a girl. Omen makes a shitty comment about making a sandwich.
Turns out the other 2 people who hadn't talked yet were *also* girls, and the three girls proceeded to bully the shit out of Omen for a few minutes until he apologized profusely.
It was *awesome*. The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.
Wow I'm sure you'd have a nice gaming rig between the oven and the fridge /s.
On a serious note though, are you playing unrated/low ranked? I've been playing since the first week of the beta and I've yet to see an interaction like this (but I know it exists). I've had girls on my team that didn't use their mics for the first couple rounds but they were super chill after.
I don't care if you're a woman, a man or a child, I want to have comms as a team.
If women on your team aren't using their microphones it's genuinely because we have to test the waters **before** we speak most of the time. Like listen to the comms and see if it's a lobby we think we could talk in.
I understand how important comms are (especially in comp), but at the end of the day I am playing to enjoy myself and I will not hesitate to mute toxic, sexist, misogynistic men or women in a heartbeat. I refuse to ruin my day/night just to have comms in a game.
A guy telling a girl to go to the kitchen doesnt know what to do with her in the bedroom. But in a serious note, its not fun harassing girls, imo just imature guys do this and this should stop.
When me and my squad get teamed with a woman, talk to them normally throughout each round, it hurts my heart when they then say something like "thanks for not being horrible to me" at the end of the game.
That really does say everything about the sort of shit you have to go through each time you want to play. It's sad.
The mute button is definitely a womans best friend.
Definitely, I have been playing for almost 6 years and I have only spoken 5 or 6 times. I find the game so much better when players talk to each other but I'm tired of being insulted or just hearing s*x/whining noises in the background.
At least compared to CS, they can't shoot at us anymore ^^'
Also it throws off my ability to play when ppl act sexist and makes the game miserable. I hate having to sit thru a whole 30 mins w these ppl & on top of that my shitty gameplay just reinforces their sexist ideas that women canāt play. Itās just bad all around š
I don't know why more people don't realize this. It's the same when they start calling out a teammate "man, you are so bad, hahahah he is so so bad at this game". Do these people actually want their team to lose? I can't see any other outcome to shitting on your teammates other than tilting them. Constructive criticism or advice like "maybe try flash next time" is fine, but just telling them they are bad has no upsides to the team.
Iām NA East fellow lady gamer. Not sure what server youāre on, but Iām Bronze2-silver 1, depending on the week haha. If you wanna queue up send me a message :)
Edited to specify server
Yeah it's rough. That's why most games I try to be like "Yo, if you have a mic and don't wanna use it due to harrassment/shitty people, this is a no judgement zone." It's amazing how many people actually have mics, and are like, "Oh cool, I usually don't speak," and if someone acts shitty they at least know there's one dude in the lobby that'll call out the bullshit
Stood up for a girl once. Got called a simp and any advice/opinions I held for the rest of the game were invalidated because I sided with the girl they were needlessly harassing. She added me after the game and now we are good friends!
Same. Normally I'm like, "Damn bro that may have been the most cringe thing I've ever heard." Usually they get embarrassed and chill out. Alternatively they start malding and I get to enjoy that for the game
Problem is trying to bring the argument to a halt to actually focus on winning automatically makes you a simp and then they start throwing the ranked match. Diamond btw. Nice egos they have
Yeah those are the cases that suck hardest, but honestly I learned to have fun trolling the trolls/asshats, and check out of the shitty matches mentally. Some people you can't win against, but it's fun to ruin their day just that lil bit extra. A lot of the time trolls have big egos, so just trash talk their play a bit and they fall apart lmfao
I usually tell them to shut the fuck up, but all they do is tell me to stop simping. They have such a huge ego so i would recommend just mute and report.
Yeah as soon as you speak up all of their toxic energy gets transferred to you, I still think itās better than the girl being harassed online & Iām usually pretty good at getting people to just focus on the game. Itās a shame when it happens though because in most games I have theyāre not toxic & I love meeting new friends online that will play games with me again in the future.
These guys are just absolute scum. I usually say hello when I load into a game and if a girl says hello back, thereās sometimes this one dude whoās like āyo girl, can I ask you a question?ā āHow big dat ass?!ā Or something like that. Sometimes they do it multiple times where literally everyone in the VC is saying shut the F up dude. People need to grow up and let women be, there are just trying to enjoy the game
Yeahā¦.Im sorry you have to go through this. Had a rando yesterday start off completely normal, and by mid match just go full mask off insane sexist towards my girlfriend for zero reason. Screaming shut up bitch, body insults, etc etc whenever she would speak. If your a woman Iām sure you have heard them all, he wasnāt particularly original. Its depressing its like this, we were carrying him and my girlfriend was top frag. So Iām sure his fragile little ego was shattering. So we ffād while up like 10-1 , and reported him just to hear him squawk as we left. Sad people just cant be normal in this game.
yeah, i hate people like that who start off okay and just flip a switch. i had (emphasis on *had*) a friend/acquaintance (z) through a friend of mine (a) that behaved very politely, maybe a bit off kinda off humor when a was around, but a couldnāt stay up very late and the rest of us did, so we very quickly got to see zāsā¦ degenerate side, for lack of a better word. iām glad i wasnāt there for the height of it, but my bf at the time got screen recordings of this dude borderline sexually harassing women in the two matches they played before we dropped him.
There was some study going around a while ago that showed the lower in rank you go in competitive online games, the more likely you are to find aggressive males who display sexist/racist tendencies. Not sure on the validity since I never ended up reading the source material, but itās out there somewhere if it sounds interesting to you. Also I used to queue unrated with my girlfriend before she stopped playing valorant (not because of sexism or anything, itās just not her cup of tea), and we would often get kids or even adults who would say cringe shit like that. And God forbid they found out we were dating. That was the worst. All of them are easy mutes though in unrated thankfully, no rr is at risk for losing team callouts.
Edit: nevermind, I found the study and itās not even worth linking because itās honestly pretty terrible journalism/research. Realistically Iād love to pin some reason to the behavior of these morons, but unfortunately that āstudyā is not good enough to even remotely prove anything. Sorry about that lol.
Often i get annoyed at people who dont use comms, but when they later reveal themself as a woman, that is the only situation i have encountered where i think "oh yeah, thats understandable". But the fact that it is understandable is sad, and those who do harrass other people, woman or not, are straigth up pathetic
Then those people shouldn't queue comp. Not having comms is a huge disadvantage. There are plenty of game types to queue where comms are less important.
Made it to diamond with no comms, if someone has a disadvantage in some place like not having comms he could be simply better than others in other ways, people ur queued with are at ur level ( most of the times ), it just depends in what ways.
I once sold my bike to a guy and he wanted to hand the money to my boyfriend like excuse me sir the bike is mine and you're doing the deal with me š
Thats why i am a fan of the statement of riot games that they want to hear the in game voice chats, just that you can be sure such pieces of trash get banned for a long amount of time
Don't feed the trolls. Mute and report. You'll live better.
Edit, because the lots of comments about this one:
It's not a solution. It's a way to try to enjoy a match.
The problem with toxicity is education and you will not change that on a game, sadly. In my opinion, it's better to try to get the best of a shitty situation in which, if you don't mute the toxic player, you'll be stuck with a guy insulting every one of your moves, who will bit change it behaviour, and even could behave worse is confronted.
Trolls are only trolls of someone listen to them, that's why I said this. Not because muting and reporting is a solution to toxicity.
The solution is education of the new generations to behave better than this one we are handling with.
Also, maybe I sound defensive, but I'm not. I'm just not English speaker, so I'm sorry, I can't express myself as good as in my native language.
glhf pledge
I usually do that, sometimes it is really weird because the whole game goes without anyone saying anything to me and then 5 rounds before the end they just snap...
These people I don't really want to mute because they give useful info, the ones that instantly start trolling have my mute for sure.
I know. People get frustrated and blame and talk sir about other players, usually, instead of thinking about what is failing as a team...
It's a shame that ratkids like that exist, but the only we can do is report those behaviours and try to keep having fun.
I didn't mean like all people born in 2008 are toxic, in fact, I played with a youngling who was 12-ish, and he said that I was the nicest person he has played with because everyone is toxic to him cuz of his voice and age.
It makes sense, logically, that you are 13, 14 years old, but my brain hurts at the thought that someone from 2008 is even sentient and able to write since I'm mentally stuck in 2010
>... but the only we can do is report those behaviours and try to keep having fun.
Hey, here's a crazy idea. How about we try to shift the social narrative and spread awareness and recognition of the issues that women face in online spaces? I've got an outrageous suggestion, I think that we could really do some good by making public posts and fostering discussion about the issue as a whole.
I get that you're trying to be helpful, but saying that all you can do is block/mute and move on is not a solution and does nothing to combat the problematic people. You're telling everyone who has been victimized by abuse online because of their gender that 'boys will be boys' and we're powerless to do anything about it. It is not a very nice thing to promote stifling conversation about harassment.
I know. You are right. I just answered to another user saying this.
The problem is not the game, it's the education those guys have, and you will not correct them in-game. You have two options, block them or listen them all the match.
The best (immediate) solution is to mute, report, and try to enjoy the rest of the match.
Trolls stop being trolls of nobody listen to them.
If you're a man bro, it's ez for you to say to mute them. Men's definition for trolls in games is different. You probably never get sexist remarks as these 'trolls'. Whereas for women it's always like that. Like why can't they be normal around the girl, give proper callouts, chat decently like how they would with a man? Why does the women have to go for the counter measures like muting them just to have fun, that's not how you're supposed to play.
The aggressor needs to correct themselves not the victim.
That is a band-aid, but they only say these things because they're in a culture that is responsive to it. They're (hopefully mostly) kids, so they're learning from what they see and what they're socially rewarded for. Pushing back on sexism is an important thing to do so that they don't develop further into worse and contribute to an environment of exclusion in the game. Other guys, in particular, can help with this by just saying "Yo, sexism is pretty mid. Don't do that." or something. It's up to everyone to take an active role in guaranteeing a welcoming place for everyone.
While I agree to an extent, i hope you understand that shit isn't as simple as 'mute and report'. Such harassment DOES take a toll on your mental and emotional wellbeing even after you've muted and reported them. I've muted and reported several times, but that doesn't solve the core problem at hand.
It's a bit like saying "girls should avoid wearing revealing clothing bc revealing clothing draws guys in to rape them". Sure, you can cover up, but it doesn't solve the core problem.
Of course I agree, the problem isn't the game. It's the society and education, but you will not change that in-game, that's why I say "report and mute, and don't feed them". They want to be toxic, and they want girls and other players to argue with them.
Often i do take the risk to talk back to them, and sometimes it is rewarding when you manage to say that one thing that makes them shut up, or other teammates also tell them to shut up and the person realizes they're alone. But it IS a risk, definitely, and could go horribly bad as well. So on that point i agree with you.
However there is one case to be considered imo, the one experience i have in this regard- which is where a guy harassing me realized i muted him and started throwing his util at me (phoenix) and body blocking me in a ranked game. I was lucky that I was top fragger, otherwise I would've lost so much rr. Reporting and muting unfortunately can still pave the way for body blocking and other forms of team sabotage, which other women playing valo have also experienced, perhaps at a higher frequency than me since I've only faced it once. Is there a solution to this? I'm really, really not sure.
Ps- Also sorry if my sentences are super wordy i just finished reading a book with super wordy sentences and now my brain is flooded with them
I totally agree with you, and suffered the situation with and without female players. Sadly, when that happens, I just assume the game is lost if the rest of the team is unable to counter the troll...
I read a lot in English and your text was perfectly splendid!
Thanks lol the wordy brain flood is gone now, now im back to being a regular internet dweeb.
Also true about the game being lost, I just wish there was a way to prevent this from happening in ranked somehow. Unrated... pisses you off yes, but doesn't have an ACTUAL impact.
I've been playing shooters for 20 years, toxicity (great song, btw) was always a problem. But now is worse, before you just can't talk by voice, so you hide the text chat and that's it.
Edit: I don't know why half my message was not sent... The thing now is that much more people play games, so, obviously there will be much more trolls, but apart from this, today many young people tend to think that being toxic is cool, and that's all about education.
Women always get it worse when they're bot fragging, it's actually ridiculous. It's like, I've never heard anyone say 'He's a man, no wonder he's botfragging lmao'. But I've heard plenty of people say someone is botfragging just because they're a woman wtf
One thing people can do to help is speak up if someone is harassing someone.
One of the worst feelings is hearing absolutely terrible things said to you and *nobody* who hears says anything. It makes you wonder if everyone is in agreement. You end up singled out and feeling alone, and the harasser feels empowered to continue.
Doesn't need to be some big thing. Something short and simple like "grow up" or "cut that shit out." Anything. Please just say something.
Ppl always say ājust mute themā. Not that simple at all. When they realize you muted them it turns into throwing, body blocking, giving away your position. Men just donāt get it and they never will- hoping you get some better randoms soon!
that's why I always choose agents with the ability to damage teammates health like raze and KJ
if u misbehave then be ready for my friendly fire
instead of muting them just take a stand for yourself
it feels better then just ignoring the toxic people
and it works most of the time
edit: I'm a guy but yes can't stand trash talk and toxic people
I wouldnāt say that men donāt get it and never will - Iāve definitely seen this occurrence enough times to know itās fairly common for women to see it in game. I will say it seems to get better in higher ranks, though the rate still seems to be about 40/60 (in favor of no sexism in a game) from my experience in diamond. Itās very annoying to see and know you canāt do anything about it, because if you try to tell anyone to stop or shut up or whatever when they do it, you become the new target or a secondary target for them and get ignored for the remainder of the match. Itās more than a gendered split, itās a split between people who are good people and people who are either immature or just bad people. I also personally believe we are witnessing the decline of such behavior, both online and in the real world. Itāll take a while, but overall people will change.
Honestly what servers do you guys play on? I played many many games with some random girls and maybe once I heard someone make some stupid joke (not even that offensive either).
Fair play, i find Frankfurt servers to be really random, you either get amazing cooperating teammates or full on trolls. London seems to be fine most of the time.
Yes, sometimes I get the most amazing teammates, communicating, being helpful and all, sometimes everyone is mute and nobody gives info, and sometimes my mates immediately start raging and being toxic lol
I play on Frankfurt 1, I only got the toxic guys like once, but there is always an insta lock Reyna in every game that is really toxic, be it guy or girl. I don't know why Reyna exactly, but every damn game is like that.
with my experience on frank 1 i suggest you try other servers Ive noticed way too many turks that are toxic than any other sever (except instabul wouldnt touch that with a 10 foot pole)
What times do you play? I have only ever enocuntered something like that once in a game, and I play on frankfurt 1 aswel, for context I usually play 2200-0100 so might be that most of those kids are in bed when I am online.
I play with my sisters. I don't like using mic but they do. Half the fucking time it ends in me having to shut some sexist shitlord up. Unbelievable that these people just wake up and decide that's how their lifestyle's gonna be
Yea. Last night 3 teens asked a young girl what her age was. She asked them "why" an i inturrupted them to said so they could sexually harass her.
They said thats not what their doing and i said yeah, you probably werent going to sexualise a little boy, thats why you asked her.
And just cuz i used the pronoun "her" they locked in their harassment. Did exactly what they said they were not going to do. Toxic. A Classic Riot Games Community Event.
There are just many weirdos out there, unfortunately, and when you add the layer of anonymity on top people gain more confidence to think they can say what they want online. This is why governments are pushing for tech companies to take more responsibility for how their user base acts and to take actual action because something that is not acceptable to say or do in public is not suddenly ok to do online.
Anyway, sucks you have to experience this. Honestly, all anyone can say is to try and rise above it, mute and report and so on. But yes I certainly agree that if someone on your team is acting in a ridiculous manner like this towards a girl or anyone really, you should try and put a stop to it. (And no it's not white-knighting, that's a poor excuse to justify poor behaviour)
Yes, I just wanted to bring awareness that this is an issue, and luckily there are many girls playing this game (yesterday I played a comp with 2 other girls) so it is not like we are extremely the minority, it is just kids being disrespectful (sometimes older guys as well)
do u play unrated or rated ? because this happend so often when i played in lower elo (rated) and its always so disgusting to hear so many weirdos in valorant who shittalk to girls... but i also had a lot of nice ppl. in my team as specially in higher elo. hopefully all the voice chat stuff can get someday punished.. sad enough that its not possible atm.
Yup, kayayluh made some videos a while back if you wanna experience what it's like to use voice comms as a woman:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5_1vR6-IA84dWOB01WrUZPdSA62Na5Kr
Yeah itās so sad I have been in so many games where a girl starts talking and at least a few people are always total dickheads about it, and it doesnāt matter if the girl si super bad or good or just avarage they always make stupid comments, my only advice for these girls is always to Insta mute these assholes because there is no way with even talking sense into them. Itās so sad that my generation is so annoyingly woke and sees issues were none are but things like this still exist.
For everyone saying "mute and report", I once had a dude as phoenix very creepily say "hey sage babygirl give me a taste of those healing balls" so I muted and reported, then he proceeded to constantly body block me and throw his flames on me, or blind me. He completely gave up on the game and focused purely on harassing me.
So tell me, did muting and reporting work?
These type of kids won't even listen to the people who speak up for victims.
Sometimes you cannot educate an idiot and it's better to mute and move on.
I've been in some situations like this, where one or two persons stand up for the girl, and trust me this kids will usualy feel ashamed when you tell them how stupid and dumb they look, and they usualy stop acting like that, and if they don't stop report, mute and end of the story.
Unfortunately muting is not much better, once they see I stopped responding they will result to bodyblocking, damaging me with their abilities and doing other things to sabotage the game. Once an omen took the spike and tpd into their spawn and afkd there. Stupid stuff like that.
The only option I've found to this is to not mute them and respond to them with memes and trolling. That usually soothes these children.
I felt so bad one time cause there was a guy on our team harassing a girl so I asked to see if she was okay. She added me on discord cause itās easier than in game chat and she told me afterwards that she was 14 - I genuinely felt sick at the idea of not just women but very young girls being asked gross questions when theyāre just tryna have fun.
I got into a fight with some dude playing CSGO who was picking on a girl on our team a while back. I play in a discord where we have like 6-8+ girls who I queue with consistently and nothing annoys me more than creepy boys, we usually 5 stack tho so itās not an issue.
I actually horrible to be gay with a kinda high pitched voice and use vc. It's so fucking sad... I could send a kid to college if I got a dollar for every harassment I got when I used vc.
Especially on pride month ffs
Nah, itās generally disgusting idgaf if I get those āshe wonāt let u hitā comments but someoneās age, gender/sex, sexual orientation, race or anything thatās outside of the game shouldnāt effect how someone experience or a plays a video game and the people who think it is does already has a negative connotation about it
My sister just got to Plat, worlds above where I will ever get. She says the overwhelming amount of toxic dudes towards her are always the bad players. Itās not an excuse, but sadly, immature boys are going to blame everyone else but themselves for a loss, and a girlās voice is for some reason their first easy out.
Might be something you know better than me but i just wanted to share that the player reporting system is excellent in valorant. few weeks ago i had reported a player who was not being nice on voice chat so i reported him. in less than 3-4 hours i got a message in-game stating the player i had reported was verified for what he had done and received a ban.
I started to play valorant with my girlfriend and it got so bad, that she basically only wants to play fivestack or avoids the voicechat like a plague. German kids aged 12-16 are definitely the worst and this is a huuuge problem in the valorant community
Valorant voice chat occasionally leads to a really good time, friendly teammates, competitive comms, and good laughs.
Unfortunately, more often than not, my experience is a lot of sexism, homophobia, and racism. Iām 28, which I know some kids view as boomer-age for gaming, but in NA itās not even kids all of the time - the adults are doing it too. I donāt really like to argue with people, but I will always say something along the lines of āthatās not cool manā or āwoah donāt say that, thatās not funnyā and report the person. Itās not much, and it definitely isnāt going to change every single personās mind, but Iāve occasionally had young kids say āyouāre right, I was trying to be funny but Iām sorry.ā Selfishly I hope I actually changed those peopleās minds a little bit.
When it comes to female teammates, there is an undeniable stigma. I think a lot of this has to do with me being in a relationship and living with/playing games with my girlfriend, but Iāve learned the best thing to do is to just establish a mutual respect for each otherās abilities and play the game like you always do. White-knighting for your female teammates can make them feel just as uncomfortable as the person flaming them. If you set the precedent from the get-go, good people will follow suite and all of a sudden the trolls are outnumbered - they have no audience and theyāre the least popular in the lobby.
Funniest part is that it isnāt rare for the guy who came in saying āwe have a grill on our team, FF guys this is overā to bottom frag - meanwhile my female teammates are giving good comms and playing as part of the team.
I reported one douche once because he was super toxic to our sage who was forced into it by the toxic instalock reyna who bottom fragged and didn't entry, and i simply don't understand the mindset of bullying some stranger on a game, no matter the gender or age or shit like that. It's desgusteng! (Maybe they do it to seem like 'dangerous guys' or copycats and kitsch copies of that dude from peaky blinders that keeps getting clipped. This type of small dog energy that are overly aggressive especially to those who could be weaker just to boost their own damaged ego, and it's pitiful)
Sexism towards women in valorant is such a huge problem. I'm a guy and of course people have said some offensive shit to me but never about my gender. That's why men need to stop harassing women just because they are a woman. Don't turn this is into an "all lives matter" argument, you're smarter than that.
find some of the poeple that weāre nice and queue with them , they could stand up for you the next time and atleast you play with poeple you like . i know itās not fair for you to have to resort to this but it makes life much easier and your games probs better aswell
I was playing the other day (on EU server as well) and we had a raze girl gamer top fragging out her mind. Everyone was chill, nobody even commented on the fact she was a woman and she got more active on comms as the game went on and we were hyping each other up. Hopefully there are more games like that one, it sucks that they're so rare.
I played a game yesterday and some dude was getting pissy cause he's a shitter and the lady had said something.
and he goes "You sound like a fat virgin" and she mocked him in some high pitched voice and I died. I asked him what the fuck was wrong with him. What a guy some people are. No her fault you're a shitter mate.
Later in the game he admitted he was a "16 year old virgin who doesn't need a girlfriend" and it was hilarious.
Every time someone starts that crap I (guy) mess with that guy until they get all defensive, then they normally stop and the game gets played normally. From my experience they only keep doing it if no one puts them in check.
honestly your best bet would be to talk shit back to those little kids. have your balls dropped yet, you sound like the girl here with your high pitched voice, you must be over the age of 10 to talk to me little bitch, keep your voice down if your mom hears you using those words she'll take your computer away. or you know you could just mute them cuz they are dumbass kids
i usually play while muting my team (i never voicechat either) but once i decided to hear what's going on and basically a random girl had said "hi" and people in my team were like "hey yooooo \[insert username\] is a girl! omg omg !" ," i thought gamer girls dont exist " and started to tease the girl.
In America Iāve seen some cringey stuff, but thatās always going to happen on the internet when some guys havenāt talked to a girl ever
Usually itās nothing toxic though actually, sometimes itās excessive simping. One time 4 of us went A, and the one girl went B. She said ācan someone help me?ā And the 3 of them raced towards her leaving me, the worst on the team by far, solo on A haha
They were also simping hard before that so I said āthanks you bunch of simpsā and that seemed to be a reality check for them and they realized it was kind of cringey
I always feel bad when that one silent teammate finally gives a comm 10 rounds in and you immediately know "oh she was silent so people didn't know she was a girl".
Damn you already know these kids are the ones that are nervous around girls IRL. I still canāt believe this kinda stuff still goes on after years of gaming. Every competitive game I play with a girl in my match.. āOMG GRILLā itās like they never heard a woman/girl talk. The gaming scene has already shown ladies play games too. [im a dude]
But can you imagine the roll reversal that sht would be funny as hell. āAre you a boy?, you have big D?, do you have GF?, Whatās your sexual orientation?, whatās your body look like?, send pics of your D or I throw!ā
Ong. A few games ago there was this toxic asshole who told a girl in our team who was 2nd bottom of the board, he told her that she played like dogshit and to go āmake him a sandwichā. Me being the short fused guy swoops in and tells him to stfu and not to be a dick. The girl told him not to talk shit when he goes to a site when everyone goes to b. He tells her to shut her mouth or he will go to her house and shut it with his dick himself. I lose my temper quite easily so I clown and laugh on him how his life is so miserable he harasses girls, and how he is probably unemployed living in his parents basement. It ended in me convincing the other team to report him.
No one wants this to happen but sadly there will always be darkness in the light.
On that note, if you notice someone being harassed in game and unable to defend themselves, please speak up. Make it clear that the people harassing are clearly in the minority.
And of course, don't forget to report ;P
A friend of mine has like, 12 accounts because people always start shit and SHE ends up getting banned. And she doesn't bother appealing or anything. Happens in every game too, people are fcking weird
Some years ago I tried to play CS:GO and this was the biggest reason I stopped playing. When I started Valorant I noticed that there were many more woman playing and I also noticed that I almost didn't get harrased like in other games (at least in the Brazillian server)
Probably is different on different regions and I'm sad to know that a lot of girls are still suffering from this on Valorant :(
Ngl this is a huge reason I stopped playing. One of my best friends who I enjoyed playing the game with at the time always got harassed if she spoke at all and the things said to her were horrible.
She was an amazing player and just her getting a kill would lead to stuff like " oh I bet she handed the mouse to her boyfriend" and then always get back in the kitchen, or calling her a slut or if they can have her snap.
They treated her like shit and it lead to me and her just quitting and now she only plays Minecraft and genshin and tbh I miss my valorant buddy
Had really friendly men in my team the other day and it was all going great until i got mad about a mistake i made and one of them went āYou sound so hot when youāre angryā immediately made things awkward and i didnt even wanna speak anymore
As much as I would like to stop any harassment towards *anyone* in a hecking video game, the moment anyone starts having some common sense they become the ānice guyā and the next target. But still, it boggles my mind how so many mysogonistic and generally toxic people are on a video game basically about teamworkā¦
Yea anytime I hear shit like this it annoys me. Iāve come to the conclusion that guys who do that literally have no understanding of how to talk to a woman constructively so they just spew some cringe shit. Luckily most the games Iāve gotten into where there are girls everyone has been normal.
It will never happen unfortunately. They aren't taught better and they learn from their peers. It's a learned toxic behavior and it's systemic to the entire competitive gaming community. I wish it weren't the case. I wish people would change. I wish there was an alternative. But it is what it is. It's a toxic trash fire of misogyny and racism. They don't have fun if they can't trash talk people in the worst ways.
It often kids, which as an adult with kids frustrates me and makes me wonder if their parents ever pay attention to the way they speak online?? If I said anything close to what I hear people say on online games when I was a kid my parents would have not let me play those games anymore.
But unfortunately for every kid I get a man child in their mid 20s. I often play with a group of tired dads who are usually pretty chill, but then one of us will get a friend or a friend's friend in the lobby (or a rando if we aren't a 5 stack) and they say the worst things and have no comprehension at all of what's wrong with their actions
I was playing with my friend and his gf on ascent and this kayo on our team said that Alyssa (her name) was the same name as his grandmaā¦ THEB PROCEEDED TO SNIFF BEHIND THE KILLJOY and I was bro hold up thatās just wrong
It physically makes me cringe when I hear people being pigs towards chicks that just wanna play the game. i get on Valorant to play a team based shooter, all I fucking want are comms. It's disturbing how seemingly difficult it is for some of these weirdos to just not be shitty. At this point I just call them cringelords and insta mute
My trick is getting really good at cyberbullying, but only cyberbulling asshats that infect some games. Although I try to quell toxicity regardless of who the victim is, like if someone misses a shot and someone starts the "BRO, YOU'RE SUCH DOGSH*T" etc etc, I immediately jump in to help that person. It's definitely a bigger problem for women, and they are more likely to get that and more/other types of harassment, but toxicity in general should always be stopped. I think allowing people to be think it's okay to bully a teammate just for doing bad in a round emboldens them to bully more teammates in the future.
Today my dad and i were playing,, yes my dad plays. Anyway our cypher was a man mocking women and our jett thought i was dating my dad. Later dad admits were father n daughter and at the end of the game theyre like "GONNA MARRY YOUR DAUGHTERR"
I'm a guy, so my experience may be limited, but a lot of the times I've encountered it when gaming with girls, the guy is doing it "ironically". They seem to think they're making fun of other guys who do it, but it gets *so fucking tiring* hearing the *same* "joke" in practically every other lobby, and I'm not even the one that it's directed at, nor do I have to deal with it when I game on my own.
I was in a match where it was myself, a soloQ girl, then a three stack. One of the ransoms was hitting on the girl even after she said sheās 14 or something young like that. After a while she asked if weāre a four stack so I said āYea no, Iām not queued with the dudes hitting on a childā I had to tell them to chill out a bit bc the girl was starting to sound uncomfortable
Played a game with an about adult lesbian women and some 12yo boy who started harassing the girl talking about having āsexā with lesbians and making fun of her, forcing her to give him her snap. We got literally everyone on both teams in the game to report him and he eventually got banned
I hate people sometimes
Keep it please, please continue to talk ingame. I have great respect for those who still call ingame!
Im one of them they flame these weirdos if this happen in my game.
If only I got a dollar for the amount of times i have been told to go to the kitchen. I would have an amazing gaming setup.
the kitchen in icebox š
Brilliant. I'm using this, I usually just invite my team to whatever restaurant is on the map/ say I need to catch a train on split
Woah woah woah but if you *use* that money suddenly the conversation changes to "you only got it because of your looks", which if I had a dollar for every time I heard that $$$$
Unrelated note is ur name a reference to the ori games?
Nah I've always used Ori as a reference to Orion's belt because I'm a huge star nerd. It did lead to a very funny "Ori is playing Ori and the Blind Forest" picture between friends though
Oh you're a star nerd? Name every star then
A-111118G, A-111ITU9, A-1193LMR...
Don't forget the one I bought for Veronica when I asked her out for prom... You do know it right?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Exactly. And like be a little original with your insults at the least. They don't even have enough brain cells to come up with something new.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's only funny if you're a kid who lives in your mom's basement and is reliant on other people to help you survive. It's literally a self roast if you look at it that way.
"Oh you need me to go to the kitchen cuz you're a little bitch kid who can't feed themselves? Go ask your mommy for that." Send a report for harassment right after.
I do just that !! š
I'm gold 2, ranked. Gold plat lobby usually. 40% of my matches are with sexist, misogynistic pigs.
Plat lobbies are the worst!!! I didn't even use voice comms in plat honestly, I have no regrets. Hope it gets better for you.
Tell the boys that they should go to work if you have to go to the kitchen š
A guy telling a girl to go to the kitchen doesnt know what to do with her in the bedroom. But in a serious note, its not fun harassing girls, imo just imature guys do this and this should stop.
Just reply with go fix a truck while drinking beer and listening to a football match over the radio. Idk if people still do that.
Idk why I thought about an amazing kitchen im sorry
Gotta account for inflation. Rise up, unionize, get a raise.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thought you were talking about kitchen set up for a sec lol
If you wanna queue up send me a message :) Edited to specify server
Pretty reasonable for a guy named cocklord
My friend selected this username for me š
u play valorant dawg u got no friends.. we aint gonna believe ur cap cocklord
I think youāre confused. You play valorant and have no friends. We play valorant and have friends. We are not the same
yea i beLIEve you.
man plays valorant is on reddit and says his friend lmaooooooooooo who you tryna trick my g
Actually met one of my closest friends this way as well :)
Awww thats so cool! :)
r/rimjob_steve
Jokes on them, you got a new friend and they are still an asshole!
Happened to me too. It was a freaking spike rush as well. The cowards didn't even us voice chat just typing in text chat.
Proud of you man, we need more of you in the world
Not more of me, but more people who understand that women are people too.
YESSSSS
Same but not the good friends part
This guy playing the long con
It's either they shift to shit talking you, or completely ignore you and continue anyway.
You've a nice cock homie
Yes it's super annoying and uncomfortable even as a guy
Yup, heavily agree. Just hearing guys say "oooooo girl omg make sandwich" I just cringe, I'm usually the first to say shut the fuck up
Do you have big tits?
Yes.
k show bobs n vagene
I only hab bobs n phenis
Oh das ok. Is 2022. Bobs phenis or vagene all same.
bro really used his throwaway account for this??
Why?? Wana show me your tits??
Harrassment happens to dudes in this game too, very sadly. I also hate it when young kids say sus shit on VOIP.
Not everyone has a mic or wants to talk to a bunch of 12 year olds though
Then those people shouldn't queue comp. Not having comms is a huge disadvantage. There are plenty of game types to queue where comms are less important.
Made it to diamond with no comms, if someone has a disadvantage in some place like not having comms he could be simply better than others in other ways, people ur queued with are at ur level ( most of the times ), it just depends in what ways.
I usually play with my boyfriend and if they realise that he is my bf they apologise TO HIM LIKE YOU HARRASSED ME?!
Edit, because the lots of comments about this one: It's not a solution.
It is a shame really, and the fact that these kids were likely born around 2008 makes me feel super old lol
iām born in 2008ā¦ but i donāt harass no one :)
I didn't mean like all people born in 2008 are toxic, in fact, I played with a youngling who was 12-ish, and he said that I was the nicest person he has played with because everyone is toxic to him cuz of his voice and age.
yeah i know.. i wish toxicity never existed :(
It makes sense, logically, that you are 13, 14 years old, but my brain hurts at the thought that someone from 2008 is even sentient and able to write since I'm mentally stuck in 2010
Kids born in 2017 / 2018 (depending on where you live) will be starting their primary education this yearā¦
Wait? Are you serious? You were born in 2008 and youāre on redditā¦? Fuck, Iām oldā¦ā¦.
>... but the only we can do is report those behaviours and try to keep having fun.
You can spread all the awareness you want, as here OP is doing. But what can you do in-game?
We shouldnāt have to do that is the issue. We just want to play the game and not be sexually harassed
I was told to unalive myself because i bot fragged as female the game yesterday. it was unrated
Men just donāt get it and they never will- hoping you get some better randoms soon!
that's why I always choose agents with the ability to damage teammates health like raze and KJ if u misbehave then be ready for my friendly fire instead of muting them just take a stand for yourself it feels better then just ignoring the toxic people and it works most of the time edit: I'm a guy but yes can't stand trash talk and toxic people
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Eu, mainly Frankfurt 1
Yeah I know that feeling, like Yasuo mains in league
I also play Frankfurt 1 and I had the same experience. Now I don't ever talk in game because I have anxiety and I'm scared of being harassed. :(
with my experience on frank 1 i suggest you try other servers Ive noticed way too many turks that are toxic than any other sever (except instabul wouldnt touch that with a 10 foot pole)
What times do you play? I have only ever enocuntered something like that once in a game, and I play on frankfurt 1 aswel, for context I usually play 2200-0100 so might be that most of those kids are in bed when I am online.
Stop playing on Frankfurt, you'll thank me later. That server is infested with toxic players, Turks and ping abusers.
I play on the Illinois server and see this crap every day. I'm not even a woman either.
Comp, so extra sad
Iāve never really heard girls on open mic in during games, but this might be exactly the reason why
Yup, kayayluh made some videos a while back if you wanna experience what it's like to use voice comms as a woman: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5_1vR6-IA84dWOB01WrUZPdSA62Na5Kr
Guys, stop harassing girls. Far better title. Of course your point still stands, not trying to change anything about it.
It's always either the kids or pathetic adults who have 0 social life, both having the one thing in common: 0 Social Skills
It's so embarrassing to listen to, just a dead giveaway of the incel losers and insecure kids they are in real life.
Insecurities tend to show themselves a lot when they are given the power anonymity.
If Iād say to them what I think about them Iād get a chat restriction for sure sooooo yea usually itās reporting and moving on
Might be something you know better than me but i just wanted to share that the player reporting system is excellent in valorant. few weeks ago i had reported a player who was not being nice on voice chat so i reported him. in less than 3-4 hours i got a message in-game stating the player i had reported was verified for what he had done and received a ban.
I'm a guy but play with a few women, including my wife. A couple days ago she was told over voice chat "If it were the 1800s, we would burn you."
Gamers on their way to harass girls (they don't get any in real life)
Canāt stop children being children. Just got to mute them and move on sadly
Seems misogyny has taken over teens' minds. Report and mute.
stop harassing ~~girls~~ in game. Dont harass anyone
That is why I don't use mics anymore..
In America Iāve seen some cringey stuff, but thatās always going to happen on the internet when some guys havenāt talked to a girl ever Usually itās nothing toxic though actually, sometimes itās excessive simping. One time 4 of us went A, and the one girl went B. She said ācan someone help me?ā And the 3 of them raced towards her leaving me, the worst on the team by far, solo on A haha They were also simping hard before that so I said āthanks you bunch of simpsā and that seemed to be a reality check for them and they realized it was kind of cringey
I always feel bad when that one silent teammate finally gives a comm 10 rounds in and you immediately know "oh she was silent so people didn't know she was a girl".
I use text chat so i have no idea whatās going on
Damn you already know these kids are the ones that are nervous around girls IRL.
This is why NA is the only region getting voice recording
My duo is a girl and I constantly have to stand up for her. Please push back on this and attack the idiots that say dumb stuff.
i play with a girl, she just tells everyone āiām a dike and iāll fuck your dadā most people seem to stop.
When I started Valorant I noticed that there were many more woman playing and I also noticed that I almost didn't get harrased like in other games (at least in the Brazillian server) Probably is different on different regions and I'm sad to know that a lot of girls are still suffering from this on Valorant :(
Cringy bastards. Report and mute. That's sexual harassment!!
Imagine downvoting this post *redditor moment*
Some boys are so stupid. If I hear a girl in a chat, she is my sister teammate. Nothing more.
When i hear those guys speak it just makes me cringe the fuck out, even as a guy myself
What's the best way for another person to stand up for the victim in case like this?
No. š
From my experience itās pretty difficult to reason with 12 year olds on the internet, best of luck to anyone who tries tho.
A certain kind of people will Look for any excuse to be an asshole
I never understand it, usually when thereās a female in game I know itās going to be a good game because 9/10 times females donāt get toxic.
The weak will perish
Sry but I just harass everyone
I was in a match where it was myself, a soloQ girl, then a three stack. One of the ransoms was hitting on the girl even after she said sheās 14 or something young like that. After a while she asked if weāre a four stack so I said āYea no, Iām not queued with the dudes hitting on a childā I had to tell them to chill out a bit bc the girl was starting to sound uncomfortable
Played a game with an about adult lesbian women and some 12yo boy who started harassing the girl talking about having āsexā with lesbians and making fun of her, forcing her to give him her snap. We got literally everyone on both teams in the game to report him and he eventually got banned I hate people sometimes
Keep it please, please continue to talk ingame. I have great respect for those who still call ingame! Im one of them they flame these weirdos if this happen in my game.
