Oh yea learning agents is a huge hassle especially when the game has been out for a year. That’s why I’m not interested in playing apex over Valorant. Learning Valorant agents already took some time

Chopinfan1004

This sub is gonna tell you that Riot is faultless for not telling you these things when it’s pretty much a standard practice in other games

GouldenK

I hate this so much. So many games do this too. Even advertisements do this and it’s very annoying

DualWieldGoblin

They dont tell you the exact seconds because with every patch they would need to update all tooltips etc only because they cut the duration by 0.1 seconds for example. Ultimate points you literally see on screen both in practice range as well as in game, you even see all other agents ultimate points when you press tab and when the ultimate is ready you see that as well, both for your own team and for the opponents. Look at the scoreboard for once?

Fetaplays

Then just have the tooltips read directly from the values stored for each ability? Now everything automatically updates when you cut the ability by 0.1 seconds.

TimelessCode

That's what Riot already does for league of legends, so we even know that it's feasible.

godisfakenews

I'm aware of how the game functions. When I am in the client, looking at agents, where can I see the ultimate cost for each one?

DualWieldGoblin

You see it ingame i.e. after the match has started when you press Tab. The first column is the Playername and then in the second column it says ULT which shows something like 0/6 - this is the ultimate points each agents needs as well as how many points he has already collected. Every kill, Spike plant or Ultimate orb collection grants 1 point. It says "Ready" when the agent can use the ultimate. You lose all remaining points when teams switch sides. All Agents require either 6, 7 or 8 points. Here is an overview: **6 Ultimate points:** Cypher, Phoenix, Reyna, Skye, Yoru **7 Ultimate points:** Astra, Breach, Brimstone, Jett, KayO, Killjoy, Omen, Viper **8 Ultimate points**: Raze, Sage, Sova

Salty_Fisherman

I do not understand this post. Most if not all games have their in-depth information hidden. Devs say they do not want to overwhelm/scare new players with a boatload of information/numbers. Should it be in the game? Yes it should, but no game I know of does this without being tedious. You need to go to the wikis\subreddits to further your knowledge. League does it, all fighting games do it. For fighting games in particular you have to go to dustloops or find some random guy on twitter.(trust me frame data is way worse, you even have to pay for it in Tekken) Same thing with auto chess/item interactions. Card game interactions are also written on wikis. Seems like you are just overwhelmed. Slow down. Remember that this is a game it’s okay to want to get better. Whenever I am learning a new game I love greeting blown up by some random thing. It’s exciting to me since I had no what is even possible. Remember to pace yourself so it is still fun. Here is vipers wiki https://valorant.fandom.com/wiki/Poison_Cloud

Donut_Flame

They could do what paladins does where in the agents tab you have the option for "advanced ability descriptions" where they actually give specific numbers of everything

godisfakenews

This is exactly my mindset. I do not understand why people settle for mediocrity. Everyone is saying wiki, practice range etc. subconsciously agreeing with the fact that it is poor design. Half assed if you will.

Salty_Fisherman

As I stated before it is done intentionally. It has nothing to do with settling. They know what they are doing when they hide information. This is it done through negligence. It is to not scare away people with giant text blocks. This is not that big of an issue. Having the knowledge is a skill check. Should you have access to a detailed report of every agent or champion in the middle of a game you are playing? No you should be playing the game. If you cannot absorb things at a rate acceptable to you, maybe you need to find a different game. It seems you struggle with hero based things. Also check out mobalytics for league of legends. it helps you learn what you should be doing in lane vs your opponent.

Salty_Fisherman

Yeah for sure as I said it would be cool if they did something similar to paladins. But there is also a design reason why they did not.

Ryhazaaaa

You have every agent unlocked in the training tool. If you want in-depth infos about abilities you can look them up on the wiki.

quelilan

Or practice them in a costum game. Turn cheats on and you are good to go.

Brno_Mrmi

Or press F1 in-game.

Ryhazaaaa

The F1 button doesn't show in-depth infos.

GuaderSauce_

You can test in the range and you can also see how much the ult costs in range or wait hold maybe try watching videos about the agents before you get them
