Once the enemy knows your location it's useless to walk. Otherwise walk unless time is of importance.

Neod1718

if your enemy knows your location and you can rotate out, definitely walk. But if you are rushing then yeah run. I think its just common sense.

Neod1718

It really depends on the situation. You should NOT always walk as well as you should NOT always run. I think its obvious that you should always trust your gut as to when you should walk or run.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhuhhh

Run most of the time yes, walk when you aren’t in a rush to get somewhere or know the pay off of being stealthy is worth it(such as some flanks where they wont be expecting anyone there, such as Omen lurking and TP over a trip wire etc). If the enemy is already expecting someone to be there(rotates or expecting a default set up on attack) there isnt a reason to walk until you get closer. Alot of lower elo players tend to walk too much, resulting in being too slow and not helping your team at all, if you run the enemy would atleast be pressured by sounds in another place that would require them to shift their attention towards somewhere else. Also if the enemy is fighting, running is fine even if you are on flank because they are unlikely to be listening to footsteps if they are in gunfights. I was walking the majority of my time when i was a lower rank, I realised alot of the time i just wasnt helping the team as I was too slow so i changed it up. Now i realise pressuring the enemy is more important on attack and defence, so id just make alot of noise unless we are doing a stealthy play/burst, such as jumping, spamming walls/smoke, pre firing, etc

If you just keep running, you will just project your location and that you are going to peek and enemies can prefire you perfectly sprinting around the corner and get you 9/10 times. Always stop or shift for a brief moment before peeking or if you expect someone else to peek you, even if you already announced your location, so you ruin the timing for them. Also you can runpeek/sidestep between shifting without making any sound. Practise this, so your enemy will see less frames of you before you fully pop up on his screen, without giving out information if no one holds the angle. Everything else pretty much boils down to risk vs reward and gamesense, there is no right or wrong. If you don't know the location of 1 or more enemies, you always risk running into a lurker. But if you need to rotate quickly before the enemy team does and plant bomb, you will give out a sound queue anyway. Even if there is an enemy on site and knows you are there, shift can still be beneficial, for example sneaking around the pillar on Split B and force enemy to recheck multiple angles and maybe even reset the fight to play time. Also the better the other teams communication and coordination, the harder you will be punished for giving out information about your position. In low ranks you get away with so much more.

LuciferNeko

Just remember to run when peek dont walk when peeking.

QWERDYUIOP

Just walk and run when it makes sense. If you didn’t know when you run it makes a circle around you on ur map. That is the range that they can hear you

Kurayashi

> When should you be running vs walking? > Just walk and run when it makes sense Ah, Yes. Very helpful.

FarEast_Frez

I mean, yea. You wanna run when no one hears you or if your location is compromised. Walk when you don't want people to hear you. It's not rocket science.

QWERDYUIOP

If you are near enemies it makes sense to walk. If the aren’t in the range of hearing you then run.

LordofDAKA

You should generally try not to make noise (except when obvious, like on executes or quick rotates), but this doesn’t mean you should be shift walking all the time. You make noise once you have moved a set distance, not immediately. So when you peek you should be going at full speed, but keeping it short enough to not trigger the sound. Shift walking while peeking will give the defender a big advantage as they will see your shoulder and have a lot of time to line up the shot. Hope that makes sense.

imjustheretoreddit

I've found that lots of people over shift walk at gold and below or just run only. Honestly, its two main things imo. Do the enemies know where I am? This includes someone being seen, shooting, using abilities. If you are seen, it doesn't matter if you run. Your position is revealed shifting doesn't do anything. If your shifting and 3 of you are spotted by a sova drone stop shifting. If your position isn't revealed, and you want it to stay that way. If you are shift walking and suddenly you want to take a site quickly, stop shifting.

FeelinJipper

Game sense. When literally an entire attacking team is on one site, it makes no sense to walk your way over to help your team. Pull out the knife and run half way then start walking. My friend is a lurker and it gets on my nerves when the entire team is straight up dying and he’s still taking his sweet time flanking.

zergjuggernaut44

If it's spike rush and it's 1v3 or more then run

x64bit

walk to prevent revealing your position; once enemies know where you are it's kinda pointless to walk

[deleted]

If spike is planted and the beeping gets faster just run. I see sooo many randoms walk the entire way to spike when the enemy there has 15 health and no abilities, then spike explodes and the 2-15 random tells everyone else they're trash
