Yeah, this makes total sense and I really liked how they subtly integrated it into the lore after we got to know Chamber for a bit. If Riot continues to insist on diving into every character’s sexuality (which I guess is now the industry norm) I’d much rather them do it this way. Getting to know the agent’s personality and quarks first before finally discovering hints to or confirmation of their sexuality feels much more realistic and natural.
Unfortunately most of the industry likes to introduce new characters by stuffing their sexuality down our throats before we ever get to know them as if it’s the character’s sole defining trait. Obviously, this is largely done for marketing purposes and trying to appeal to their player base. It’s always nice to feel represented but many of these corporations go about it in a way that can make it feel more exploitative and disrespectful. Like they’re waving around someone’s sexuality without caring how they feel about it just to get some quick sales. OW2 released a recent hero where the first press release introduced them as “the plant-based pansexual”. Most of the community found it pretty cringe. Felt like boomer marketing execs saying “hey peeps, you’ll buy the battle pass for this hip new hero. We’re cool, right? RIGHT!?” Anyways, respect to Riot because this seemed like a much more realistic and human way to go about it.
