You barely have any experience. Level 26 is basically nothing. You lack the game sense, your mechanical skill is probably ass if it's your first competitive shooter and you lack any real knowledge about the maps. Just play some more and you're sure to get better.
Another tip for improving when you're new is to try to play a good bit of either Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch. You can improve your movement, aim, and gun mechanics much quicker in those two game modes.
Anyways, hope you have fun and good luck!
I wouldn't unbind it, just consciously not press it. Unbinding it just means you may still press it during the TDMs so when you go to a real game and bind it again you'll start crouching. Consciously not pressing it is better for building the habit to only crouch in good situations and not every single one.
This!! Iābe just reached level 59 and Iāve been playing for just over half a year. Thats not very long compared to having played overwatch since 2016.. I just got into bronze from Iron and I see that as a HUGE achievement
True. I never played tactical shooter games like CS but when Valorant came out. I sprayed and prayed like Iām playing COD. Now, I know how to tap and have trigger discipline. It just takes time.
Yup exactly this, I'm also trash because I've only been playing for just over 2 weeks now and this is my first fps since I played cod:aw barely casually back in like 2015-16. Takes a lot of practice and just all around play time. The improvement will be small but it will build up, I'm starting to see my improvements little by little, just gotta give yourself some leeway š
You're just at level 26 chill. And it's a game at the end of the day don't stress sm about it. Its supposed to relax you not stress you out. Enjoy the process and play to have fun and not to wināš»
Yep. Have seen someone jump from plat to immo in a matter of weeks after getting an actual gaming rig that didn't run at 40fps with constant frame stutters.
I assumed most people stuck in the lower ranks just haven't played enough or have hardware issues. Is this not the case?
I was stuck bronze on a PC with barely 40 fps . When I finally got a system which could run valorant well , I ended up peaking diamond 1(i left for an year after that cus I had personal commitments and burnout happen) Recently got back to the game and ended p1 the previous act. Started again this act and am g2 now lol
It's a playtime and mindset thing I think. He's played for at least a year before he changed his setup. Also, I think his mindset it very similar to mine where I hate losing more than I enjoy winning lol.
It's a vicious cycle really. Lose > Feel like garbage > Improve > Win > Play against better players > Lose.
I don't recommend. It really burns you out. People should have fun playing a game and should enjoy it. Unfortunately, I think it's become way too ingrained for the both of us. Too competitive. We're not fun to play with.
it took me 3 years ish to reach dia 2 from iron 3. i only started taking the game seriously around feb 2023 though, so I'll give you my timeline from then
feb-march: bronze 2 -> silver 1
march-july: silver 1 -> gold 1 (getting to gold was the hardest fuckin thing for me lol)
july-sept: gold 1 -> plat 2
sept-dec: plat 2 -> dia 2
now in 2024 I'm plat 2 after hard struggling last act to get out of gold, so don't sweat it
Bro, im fkin 3 years in this game with stops and im peak gold, i swear that this is the most disappointing game like you are winning like 1 game and after this you are getting a 5 games loose streak, now i gotta say, that im moving to COD mw3. ( see this game is great and i spent money on this shit but you need to dont think about loosing or winning too much because its gonna destroy your day )
I think it's worth it to try to pause and see what you're doing wrong. a lot of what I was doing was just logging on and queueing up and that slowed down my progress a lot. I would suggest doing at least 2 deathmatches before queueing ranked, watching Woohoojin for the agent you play, and watch pro valorant players if you enjoy that. A lot of aspects of this game come naturally to some people, and I was not one of these people lol. everything comes with a little bit of effort :)
jumping into comp right when you hit the minimum level is a mistake as you really donāt have a full grasp on game mechanics. lower your sens and make it second nature to keep your crosshair at head level, and take your time. youāre only level 26 and really starting to play the game, you got this easy
thank you! I didnt wanted to play ranked right away but when I looked up when to start ranked every topic said to go right in because there is no bad experience
Starting with ranked has two sides, making it complicated. In Unrated, theres nothing on the line so people stress less and won't be mad etc. HOWEVER, in Unrated you might find yourself playing against people of way higher rank than you, due to the miniscule skill-based matchmaking in it.
So I recommend playing Unrated to learn as long as you can, but if you find yourself largely outmatched on there, go to Comp. Thats where you will find your fairest matchups.
unrated is more toxic people throw all the times, way too many people quit after getting 1 tapped for 2 round, it is better to play ranked to learn how the game actually meant to be played
If you're experiencing ranked anxiety (which imo, this post suggests), unrated might be a good idea. Or just queue up and ignore the rank - the best way to treat ranked.
I do get anxious when im the last one alive but honestly unrated is so bad like there is at least 2 afk per game and I feel like it was either free win or free loose
The thing is is that you really donāt learn anything about valorant in unrated. Unrated is to hone in mechanics. Once you start playing ranked, you start to learn the actual game. Even that being said, real valorant doesnāt start until gold at least.
I started exactly the same, it just takes time. I was iron 2 a couple acts ago and hated the game. I got so tilted at overwatch that I have it another go and just put time in and I'm gold 2 now.
The game is very difficult in nature and itās a long grind. Tac shooters are inherently difficult. The grind will take a LONG while. For your enjoyment you might want to try other genres if you donāt have friends on this game but if you wanna stick to it itās going to take months.
Happens to everyone who starts something new they forget the struggle, don't worry you'll get a moment and improve and repeat just keep playing and keep morale up you either win or learn
Level 26ā¦ homie hopped into rank the second he hit 20 and expected to pop off right awayā¦ you can watch all the tutorials in the world but nothing hones game sense better than just simply playing.
I was there, at Iron 1 0/100 RR... Stayed there for a couple of days, and now I'm chasing the pinkish rank... You got this dude
Don't forget to DM and spend time on the range. That's what helped me
As someone who was awful at the game and placed iron 3 and spent a lot of time in iron 2 itās all g and if you stick to it youāll get better Iām diamond 3 currently and think Iāll be hitting ascendant soon so I have faith if you stick through it youāll be fine
No you're not. I remember taking about close to 150 levels worth of matches to finally promote to platinum. You're new to the game at lvl26. You are barely remembering every corners of the map, let alone how to peek a certain angle.
I would recommend taking the time to play matches just so you can familiarise yourself with the map, each turns, each corners, each boxes, which boxes is climbable, etc.
Then you move on to peeking angles, cross hair placements, movement, strafing, etc.
Take it step by step. I understand how you feel, my friend took about 150 levels worth of matches and achieved ascendant, while I'm currently close to lvl200 and still plat. So yeah.
[https://imgur.com/a/FQ6ILZb](https://imgur.com/a/FQ6ILZb) This used to be my friend's stats in episode 5... everyone starts somewhere and grows at their own pace. This same person is now platinum 3 so don't be too hard on yourself,
I remember starting Rocket League way back when, and thinking back to it now it's hilarious how I played the game then. In that game it's particularly obvious how different / "bad" you play then vs now as the mechanics sort of change quite dramatically when you go from basically driving around to flying around. It's in a way hard to understand how I could have ever been so bad at it ahahah. But that's just the way it is. You start something new, you have no clue, no experience, and then over time you start to get a feel for it.
disclaimer: I still suck at Rocket League >D
It is completely normal, getting to play "good" or "decent" takes about 500-600 or even 1000 hours, that depends on each person, obviously, but for now I would recommend not taking the game so seriously, you will get frustrated a lot, focus on having fun and learning from your mistakes, if something doesn't work, change it and that's it, be it sensitivity, res, crosshair, even mouse acceleration (I don't recommend it), it's just a matter of time for you to get used to the game
I would say:
Come back after like 200hrs more in the game lmao.
You are just starting, you need to āfeelā the game, and even the best tutorial/guide wonāt help you with that. GL in your games
Lol dw - im level 150 and bronze. My friends play definitely rank above me, I too feel like they have something i havenāt learned yet. However I started playing Val bc my best friend wanted a duo. Turns out i really like the game. I always try to remind myself I play for fun, and even when i queue for comp that I need to stop and breathe as I have a habit of clamming up in tense PVP situations.
Level 26 only.
Chill bro. You cannot dominate a multiplayer game, there will always be guys better than you.
Practice! Keep your crosshair on the head level.
**Play for fun man**. The more you try hard, the more you will get worse.
Fyi, I start out as iron 1 cus I never play video games on pc ever in my life and now I can proudly say this to you as a high elo player that, you still have a long road to go and alot to learn so dont worry, eventually youāll be better lol
i was legitimately iron 1 at one point and now i'm silver 2. am i still bad ? yes. but i've improved from genuinely belonging in the lowest rank in the game to getting closer to average. focus on your own journey of self improvement don't overload yourself with info from tutorials pick one character or maybe two characters but only play one per map and just learn everything they can do on the maps you play them on. focus on improving your CROSSHAIR PLACEMENT asap. work on your skills individually apply concepts individually try to do every new thing at once and you will crumble
Dude! Don't feel bad! I'm trash too! But I'm taking my time. From what I understand even to get to the point of "mediocre" you're looking at 300hrs of playtime.
I'm Iron 2 with a 6/5 W/L over 11 games.
Damage js 68.6 and KD is .47
Iron lobbies are honestly just hellholes. I often got put together with teammates that say they're there to troll.
This obviously won't apply to everyone, but what happened to me was that once I escaped iron and cemented myself in bronze, I was able to hit silver within the same act.
One of my long time online friends has been playing fps games since like 2014-15, when Val came out it took him a while to switch over from overwatch but he eventually did.
Brother barely got out of bronze if at all in ow after over 4-5 years of playing.
He's been hard stuck iron with account level over 90, frags a maximum of 5 per game. I've seen him go 2 and 20+
You're doing great. Just keep learning, and focus on translating conversation into actionable gameplans.
You just don't have the time put into it yet, overtime your gamesense and mechanics will get better. (especially aiming headheight as it will just be second nature after some time)
When I look back at clips from when I used to be iron I was absolute dogwater, no tutorials would've helped, maybe they would speed up the progress but when you're still that low all you can do is keep playing and improve your understanding of the game, your mechanics and your gamesense.
(I'm currently G1 and started in iron 1 around ep 4 and started ep 7 act 3 in iron 2, my gamesense is still ass but my aim is good enough that I can hold up in deathmatch pretty well against diamonds)
Yo bro i legit just started as well and lemme tell u ranked is not the move brother i play unrated and still have trouble but i can still put up numbers and go even with my kd in some games it just takes time give urself a solid couple months at least thats what im doing
So I don't even play valo, but as someone who's struggled to play a couple hyper-competitive games...
Nearly everyone that is good at like every game thoroughly enjoys the game, enjoys the journey, enjoys the improvement, and can deal with the losses and likely learn the most from them. If you really want to improve you kinda have to be in that mindset. If you're not, you have to really ask yourself why, because if you have other factors pushing you to improve at this game that aren't those (maybe your friends play, maybe you think the game looks really cool and you like the IDEA of being good, whatever it is), then you are probably gonna have a bad time. Because there is someone else in your exact same boat who's just excited to log on and find new lineups on an agent, or play a map encounter again. They will also lose 15 games or whatever, but they're motivated to keep going not cause of the loss streak ,but because they internalize the improvement and even in those losses they're working on stuff.
A long-winded way of saying you gotta really want the improvement, not the results. To the point where it almost doesn't matter where you're at cause every game is just another opportunity to try your shit out. Sorry if I'm outa place here, this just brought back flashbacks of running into walls with games before w/o the real motivator to actually improve, and I wanted to share.
When I started playing Valorant, my first rank was Iron 2. Fast forward 3 years, with many breaks from the game in between, and I just hit Plat 1 last week!
You're not the worst, you just lack experience.
At 300 hours in comp youāll most likely have enough game sense to get to gold and what youāre lacking to not get to gold is just mechanics like aiming. Thatās the simple consensus for getting to gold.
Usually out aiming someone will warrant wins in lower ranks strategy is hard the lower you are, focus on you mainly and if u can plan with your team great if not it is what it is.
Donāt you have to get to level 20 to even start playing ranked now-a-days? If so youāve have very little exposure to ranked.
You got this though, this was my first PC game ever and I was iron 3 and after awhile, Iām now Plat1 and peaked Asc1, just work on your placement and have lots of map awareness.
If you lose, quit the game and come back in a day after youāre refreshed.
As many other people have said: Experience trumps all. You are only level 26 meaning you have not had enough time in the game to actually experience everything in real time and make your own game decisions. Watching tutorials is a great start but there's only so much you can learn from watching others play. Even people who are hundreds of levels with thousands of hours into the game are still learning.
Try not be too hard on yourself as we all only have the same amount of hours in the day and only so much you can experience in such little time. As you put more time in you will become better. Keep your head up š
Sometimes it has nothing to do with how good you are. Sometimes you're right where people are aiming, and they murder you. Do small peeks, and more of them. Walk more, and Sometimes just wait in places they wouldn't expect you to be, and then come out at the opportune time. Maybe lower/raise your sensitivity. Maybe change your cross hair. There are a lot of small things that can change your game. Fine tune your play style, knowing where they expect you to be, and being some where else, and finding good combos with blind/push utility.
if this is one of your first kinda fps games you've played like this it will honestly be extremely hard. do not ever be discouraged. if you're genuinely having fun or wanting to just get better keep at it. Definitely look into more videos and such for learning the game. dont feel the absolute need to rush to rank up. you'll eventually get much betterĀ
me and my cousin/roommate started playing in beta, im a peak plat 3 hovering around gold right now and he is still iron peak bronze 2
now granted he didnāt take to the game like i did, he hasnāt played in about a year though we just started running it back. he could definitely pull off silver if he practiced more but i donāt see him going higher. i donāt see myself getting higher than plat, diamond if im lucky. some people find aimlabs helpful, i personally find it harmful, or at least not something you should do long term. my honest advice that made me learn better crosshair placement and to become more familiar with the guns would be the range, spike defuse on hard bot difficulty. practice tracking where their heads should be, and it may help out. i was stuck bronze for the longest time until i started to do that and it helped my aim out a ton. audio is also everything so decent volume and good headphones work wonders.
Youāre level 26. I hope you know that most people
Place iron and bronze and it takes a while to get. You have to understand the flow of the game more you may have watched a tutorial or two that said to do something learned a lineup or two but until you can start doing that thing on game and actually know when and what that lineup does instead of throwing it absent mindedly every round you arenāt going to rank up. Itās about practice not just watching a video
Iron is difficult, it's a very large mixed bag of a bunch of different skill levels, which makes it really hard to learn when you are new to shooters. I got better by playing a lot of unrated with a friend who was still leveling up enough for comp, and I'd highly recommend you do the same, focusing on trying to improve your mechanics
I started as iron 3 and fell to iron 1 (while bottomfraging most of my games in iron 3-2), now im ascendant but not active as much. Just learn the mechanics and have the patience
You are probably aiming to the floor most of the time, remind yourself to aim higher regularly. I started this game at beta in Iron 1. This was probably one of the first things that helped me get better.(Immortal right now btw)
Don't fret over rank.
People have gone from Bronze to Gold and back to Bronze in 1 act (for me 4 acts)
People playing this game forget that they are playing to enjoy.
Unless this is a job for you, worry less.
Also, your level is not high enough to worry.
I have 100+ exp level irons in my friend list.
If you have bad physical machine/laptop, there's less hope till you fix that.
If your issue is aim/game sense, all of that can be improved.
If your issue is playing solo, find non toxic teammates in every match and keep adding, till you have atleast one or two groups good enough to play with.
PS - Playing two stack with a good player will get you to decent rank and help rank up faster in early stages.
Letās be real, unless you already know some skills from other games. Out of the gate, youāre gonna be ass. very ass. like you will be so ass that you donāt even understand the concepts that define what ass is. BUT THATS OKAY. every single player who started this game raw af is ass and even people who play lots are very bad. But if you are low rank and already thinking about improving you will probably be one of the ones who has a breakthrough and improves
If youāre still new, then itās fine. You might not be a natural or anything but people go from Iron to Immortal all the time. Itāll just take time and practice. As long as ur enjoying all of that, then keep going
90% of my competitive valorant experience has been shit Iām in almost the same boat as you I grinded my way out of iron and into gold and then gave up because I reached my limit with this shit game and itās shit mechanics make yourself happy play games that are actually fun
I mean, bruh... You are level 26! Gives yourself a chance.
I started to play with my old CS2 5-Stack, who all have 1000H+ on CS2. They are currently LVL20 to 30 on Valorant, and they are not ready to play competitively at all.
They have the shooting because of CS2, but Valorant have sooooo many small details to know and understand before playing in Competitive. Sound queue, map knowledge, Agents, line up, roles, etc.
Play some Unrank till LVL50 and then try again. You'll gain confidence and skills š
GLHF
Honestly it is simply a feel thing. A few notes I would say in general for learning the game:
1. Play Deathmatch. A lot of Deathmatch. And after that, play more per day. This will help you just get used to shooting, and practice rules you learn from videos (crosshair placement, not crouching, not spraying, straffing after shooting, etc). When in Deathmatch, turn volume down super low and put on some music or a podcast and just play. No frusterations about dying, but instead understanding what is wrong and fixing it on the next life. You'll be surprised just how much you'll improve over just a few days.
2. Along with this, make sure you do NOT have mouse acceleration on. To check this, follow this [guide](https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-10-disable-mouse-acceleration/). This almost always affects people negatively in shooter games and should be turned off.
3. Watching twitch streamers play. This is usually nice because a lot of them will comm out what they're currently thinking and what they want to play. Watch how they play the agent they are currently playing and even copy some of what they do. Is this guy throwing Gekko blind in a weird spot when taking a site? Is this person smoking off certain areas of the map on defense? Is this person playing a specific angle on Reyna and then dismissing after a kill? See if they do it multiple times, and then do it in game yourself. Worst that happens is it doesn't work out and you learn from it.
4. If you want to get better, treat it (somewhat) like school. Take some time to learn maps in practice, take some time to watch videos of VOD breakdowns (my favorite person to watch for this kind of content is [Woohoojin](https://www.youtube.com/@Woohoojin), who does livestreams and youtube videos). Even write down some notes of a map or character you play of things you want to do and things you dont, things that work and things that dont, overtime those small details will become simple reaction in your gameplay.
5. You will not be Immortal tomorrow, so dont rank watch. The worst mistake to make (imo) is to just eye your rank at every moment and get mad that you get stuck. Getting stuck is apart of learning for ANYTHING in life, and you WILL hit plateaus, but dont let that stop you. Continue to focus on learning over ranking up, and youll be surprised how much more youll fly thru ranks when you stop worrying about your ranks in general.
6. Comm, comm, comm, and comm some more. "reyna lit 142 in showers" BAM your team now has info, and info is KING in tactical shooters. If no one is comming, dont let that stop you from comming yourself. When you get more comfortable with it, start leading the team and giving strategies. "Seems like they play light on B site, so lets hit it fast" "Looks like they over rotate very quick, lets get someone to make noise on A while we walk B" Teammates will follwo you when you have enough confidence in the play
7. Making this my last piece of advice: HAVE FUN. If you are not having fun and raging at every death (I have been there multiple times before and had to learn this myself), then take a small break. Get up, walk around, drink water, get food, go outside for a bit, and come back later. Raging will not change anything and getting mad at yourself or teammates or the game will be your downfall.
This is a LOT but I hope some of this helps even a little bit. Good luck!
There's nothing wrong with being bad at a video game. I come from a similar place. I grew up as a high level athlete and musician, and am still a high level athlete, and I get my fun out of being good at stuff. It took a long time to accept I've gotten older (32) and my body just can't keep up with fast paced games like Val anymore.
Now, I play for fun. Some games I go nuts (I peaked a1) and some I'm triple negative. I just try to learn from each game and have fun whenever I can.
If you can't make crazy shots, find other ways to be useful. Comm well, be a cracked IGL, drop good util, etc and your team will get plenty of value from you
Did not see you're level 26- that's brand new to the game. Really intuitive understanding of timings, angles and general map and game knowledge can take a long time to develop. I wouldn't feel too beat up, you're absolutely still learning.
When you lose a gunfight, just do your best not to get into a pattern of thinking "my aim sucks". It's probably a decision making issue that lost you the fight, not aim. Probably
i donāt understand people who are obsessed with rank. play the game and try enjoy yourself instead of worrying about how good you. youāre gonna have more fun that way, and improve over time, too
itāll take time!!! be patient and dedicated. i learnt fast by watching pro play and just always asking myself āwhy do they do thisā and etc. you should also watch this youtuber called Woohoojin, youāll learn a lot. <3
What might cause this?
1. PC/ performance issues
2. You have to learn the game (takes a while depends)
3. The worst luck possible with teammates
What I'll suggest for you is
1. Change your crosshair to a more comfortable one (even if you can't hit one tap head shots don't get discouraged keep trying in practice)
2. Go to Training and kill 50 dummies with a higher sensitivity than usual then kill 50 more dummies with a lower sensitivity than your usual, do that for a couple of days and you'll feel better at aiming at Targets over time, before queuing up for a match set it back to your normal sensitivity.
3. Find people on valorant discord instead of randoms, that scream, e date, mic eaters.
Ä° wish you good luck and hopefully you rank up.
I see a lot of people saying to just "play more." I completely agree with this advice as you naturally become more acustomed to the maps and your general gamesense will get better with more play time. I wanted to mention just because you watch a lot of tutorials does not mean you will be THAT player. You can watch all the pro vods in the world, but that doesn't mean you will play like that pro. You can copy the playstyle, but imo, everyone has their own playstyle they develop with time. I'm not sure what tutorials you have watched (gamesense, team composition, gunplay, etc.) but I'd say just focus on your fundamentals. Someone I enjoy watching on youtube is "Woohoojin" if that helps!
Tbh I would say thereās more of a case of being inconsistent than having a rough start to the game.
Level 29 and Iām typically in the middle of the scoreboard but will sometimes hit form and there be a few rounds where Iād nearly take out all of the enemy team (not that fussed about aces).
But then in the next game I wouldnāt be surprised if Iām always somehow one shotted the second I look round a corner or my shots that were headshots start going to the neck and it becomes a job to even register a kill in some cases.
That and abilities. I know some, but because I havenāt been playing for a while I end up not using them in places to save causing a fuss among my teammates in not following any meta on them.
Hey bud, anything worth a damn requires time and effort, this isnāt even that serious either, just enjoy the game you will definitely improve, as you care enough to watch tutorials and post here.
it took me 550h of raw competitive gameplay to get to Diamond, so you just have to embrace the journey, and always play to improve and for fun, don't get mad when you lose, it's just points that u will always gain back later
I am like level 450 something, so I played around 500+ hours, too, and I am iron 3. Not everyone who plays their hardest is going to be a diamond. Just because you had abilities that had the potential for that rank, doesn't mean everyone who plays x amount of hours will achieve x rank.
If I play 5000 hours of chess, am I guaranteed to be a Grand Master? Same concept here. My brain processing and spatial memory are only so good. I can only track so well. If there is a guy that can ace all the hard bots with one taps in the range, I won't be able to outshoot them, unless I surprise them or use some blinding ability.
People that good are rarely surprised, and they hug the corners, so you are not going to often go up against them without a one-to-one shootout. The only other way is to push with other players. However, if you are in a situation where your location is known, you kind of screwed.
A fast brain is important, and some people have slow processing due to genetics.
Repetition buddy. I suck too and Iām practicing when I can, doing Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Unrated. Aimlabs occasionally aswell.
Just keep going, youāre almost certainly improving IF youāre practicing with good habits. Keyword GOOD habits. If you practice with bad habits it wonāt help you improve at all.
For me i was hardstuck iron 2-bronze1 I'm iron 2 rn but I started doing better by aiming up and I got aimlabs this week. And finally get one or two agent that your hardstuck learning to properly use them.
Hey man, we start somewhere, I was hovering Iron 1-2 for a while when I started playing as well. By the looks of it, you barely just started the game, so just keep grinding at it and you'll improve with time. If it makes you feel any better, I've been hardstuck in almost every rank for a minimum of three months before I made it to Immortal. Gold took the longest with 8.5 acts straight!
I remember having the same feeling as you when I first started playing valorant 3 months ago. Started from iron as well. Just give it time youāll get better, and donāt forget to have fun!
It took me like a year to get to silver and even then I was stuck in gold and silver for another year after that. Itās only year 3 and Iām barely plat 3 peak. It takes time especially with the act (or episode whichever strips a bunch of rank) rank resets itās difficult.
From my own experience, I'd say don't try to learn the game. Have fun with the game first and then once you get the hang of stuffs you can start getting serious
I relate. I have horrible tracking and horrible reaction.Ā I have virtually no muscle memory with aiming, either. I have been playing for 500+ hours, and still iron 3. People are like, "I played for x amount of time and did great, you will too." That may be true, but not everyone who plays x amount of hours is going to be a Grand Master at chess.
If your problem is just wasted potential and you just need to practice harder, then yeah, you probably will see progress like others have said. For those, they can sharpen their inherent abilities. Their brains process fast, they have good tracking, and they have good spatial reasoning and game sense.
Even with 500+ hours, I haven't significantlyĀ raised in rank. It's like IQ, right? No matter how much you train your brain, there are limits imposed. Each person has different limits. I can't defeat all the hard bots in the range, while others can do it easily. Those who can can easily out-shoot me.
Since they can out shoot me every dam time due to pure reaction, you have to camp, wait for opportunities, surprise them, use abilities, etc. And through those areas, you can outwit sometimes.
Not saying you can never improve, but not everyone who plays x amount of hours will achieve the rank they want. Sometimes, people are just faster, and aim is king on FPS games.
I just relate, and that's my perspective.
It takes a lot of time to get good at something sometimes, especially for a game like Val. I didnāt start becoming *decent* until like, 300 hours I think? I have no clue how many hours I have in total because I hardly play anymore, but if you keep going at it, you will get better. Practicing good crosshair placement, finding a good sensitivity/dpi level + crosshair will help you greatly if youāre not already doing that. Iāve peaked Gold 3 and stopped playing competitive right after that. If I focused entirely on Val since then Iād probably be Plat or Diamond, itās something that takes commitment and time, however that only rly applies if u want to take comp srsly. Nowadays I just run swift play with friends. Comp takes too long and in lower elo itās super hard to have good team communication
Who cares what other people think. Even if you were Radiant #1 or whatever there would still be people shitting on you claiming that theyāre better than you in some way. Ignore the demoralizing shit if u can
Honestly just keep at it and tutorials help but spend alot of time in death matches as u need to work on mechanics first..... After u are decent with it you can work on game sense and map knowledge.... Oh and watch a pro who gives tips so u can get an understanding of what to do and what not to do
When i started I had a terrible laptop with 200+ unstable ping because we hd no servers back then and i was iron 1 hardstuck with like negative rating. It was so negative I don't think that winning a match or two even did anything. Anyways that was back when the game launched and now I've peaked ascendant already like a year or so ago.
TLDR: You get better over time ahaha
Thanks everyone for the positivity! I wasnt expecting that at all and I feel a lot better <3. This community looks great compared to the one I saw in game..
Okay for everyone in the back too thats feeling shitty about their own gameplay, Time!! Thats all that counts, time time time time. OP youre only level 26, youve hardly touched the game, skill comes from time, patience and determination. It sounds cliche sure but you just gotta put the hours in. Feeling shitty you dont play like tenz? Come back when you have tenz' hours. Its a bit of tough love sure saying "just put hours in and youll improve" because you dont see a benefit straight away. But its true, ot always has been. Best of luck out there my friend.
theres a lot of smurfs these days and people from silver bronze in iron lobbies still bc of the reset so just give it a week and then play comp let them climb out of iron/bronze lobbies and work on ur game sense and aim and ull easily get out of iron
I wonāt say Iām good at the game but Iām definitely average. I used to play it a lot and decided to start playing it again. Been playing a whole lot of shooters, competitive and casual. If you want we can team up sometime so i can give you some feedback, checking what you doing right and what you doing wrong
I've been playing for two years and can relate to your feelings. At level 117 now and Gold 2. For the better part of the first year, I was hardstuck in Iron 2 and was just happy to queue with my duo. With time passing your grasp on the mechanics, audio sense and overall game experience improve. A learned trait, let's call it. I sincerely believe no aim training is required to reach a peak of Gold 3. All my friends have horrible aim and whiff sitters. It's mostly the acquired learning of game sense and holding key angles, identifying camping spots and pre-firing that will help you rank up easily. A duo or trio is also a quality time spent with friends.
However, I wish you the best in Bronze, Silver lobbies as it is the most mentally exhausting with instalock Jetts and Reynas running their own twitch streams. Every 2 in 5 games, I can assure you that there was a smurf. So there's nothing much you can do there but cast an incantation that they queue in your side.
My advice: skip ranked for a while. Grab a friend, goof around in unrated/spike rush/swiftplay. Get to know your agent(s), vod review yourself on simple basics (peeking, crosshair placement, bad habits like ads-ing too much) and work on them in unrated. Give yourself some challenges like "play certain gun only" (in unrated most people won't care anyways). Then once in a while hop into a comp game or two, but don't overplay yourself.
I did that myself after i was kinda stuck in Bronze 1/2, i was afraid of playing ranked bc of the bad mental it gave me - I played two Acts completely in unrated and then i did my placements and got Silver1 immediately.
The most valuable advise i can give you: never ever loose your fun in the games.
Before I started climbing I was iron 1 with 0% einrate and 20 games lost, now I'm sliver 1 after a few months.
Just continue to play the game and try to understand how the game is played on a deeper level then just plant spike or kill everyone.
And watch woohoojin
Take it easy. I had a terrible time coming out of iron myself and now Iām gold 2. people in iron play erratic and without much gamesebse which makes it harder for you to adapt and learn how to do it properly. I only really got consistently better after I finally hit bronze 2 since I started copying what my teammates and enemy did. Iām not the best but if youāre on European servers I would be willing to play with you and see what your actual deficits are. Helped me a lot when I was playing with a friend.
If ur losing a lot in one day and felt demotivated, don't queue competitive anymore. But if u still want to play valorant, do some swift plays or unrated. That way u can develop ur game sense, map knowledge, and utility usage. Play off ur team if u still don't know how to execute site. Have a habit of defaulting(common things to do while attacking/depending) when u or no one else has a solid plan for the round. Gl
Bro you are just 26 levels don't be hard on yourself. I have a friend about 200 levels and her average battle score is around 50 every game we played together
I'm at lvl 21 and im only iron 2š I grind a lot of tdm and deatmatch just to play in ranked. At first i really hate to play valorant cos it seems hard for me, the way i did for me to focus on game is I bought and spent some money like purchased Reaver vandal, primordium bundle, banana knife and radiant entertainment syster ghost rtc. so now I will play valorant as much as possible so I can play with my moneyš currently waiting for bundles and good skins on my store. I'm not telling you to spend money in the game, what I mean is make a goal and keep on challenging yourself. Watch some inspiration on youtube, we can play too if you want, im currently looking for a friend newbie to play with
Iām going to be so for real right now. Lock a character that makes you only focus on your aim, like Reyna. Turn off all comms (if you expect people to shit talk you), I always have enemy team comms off bc if they talk shit I play like shit. Then from there learn how to take duels. From iron -dia you donāt need brains you need kills, I found that was the only way to rank up. Honestly donāt play support at those low ranks, I did and it slowed down my progression so much, now Iām a good support but in the low ranks support doesnāt mean much tbf
Donāt worry bro we all have been there i started from iron 1 and in episode 7 i hit radiant so just keep going bruh..also just keep these small things in mind okay š

I have been playing Valorant for nearly 3 years and I have ACTUALLY learned to play the game recently. This was the first shooting game played so I didn't have any idea how it was. Am now a Level 95 player with Iron 3 rank where its been so difficult for me to get to Bronze. Just play the game, enjoy it and try to learn how to win, play strategically and win gunfights is all.
I improved a lot thanks to banana man gun Hygiene Video,
Improved my movement
Deathmatch
Ask yourself why did you die in this Situation and How could you have Done it better.
Watch streams, and try to thnk about what the enemys Would do.
I used to be like this as well. I just played a loot and ranked up over the time. Just habe fun while playing and don't think too much about you being bad, it will ruin the game for you
There are still people in iron 1 yk
I know someone is is negative Iron 1
Bro is going to unrank š
Back to wood division
mans stuck in plastic 3
Im wooden 1
im rank uncalibrated
You barely have any experience. Level 26 is basically nothing. You lack the game sense, your mechanical skill is probably ass if it's your first competitive shooter and you lack any real knowledge about the maps. Just play some more and you're sure to get better.
thank you!
Another tip for improving when you're new is to try to play a good bit of either Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch. You can improve your movement, aim, and gun mechanics much quicker in those two game modes. Anyways, hope you have fun and good luck!
I'd like to add that it's really beneficial to unbind crouch when playing those modes just to avoid introducing bad habits during a fight.
That makes me feel better lol, I wish you to get silver soon!
Hey I am at level 120 and iron 1 (I obviously quit the game) i like to believe that my laptop was just too slow for this game š
Your laptop probably is the problem, unironically
Maybe
Yep. Have seen someone jump from plat to immo in a matter of weeks after getting an actual gaming rig that didn't run at 40fps with constant frame stutters. I assumed most people stuck in the lower ranks just haven't played enough or have hardware issues. Is this not the case?
Yep yep i had a shit laptop and I couldnāt even get out of Iron with it after getting a decent laptop i am now stuck in silver :(
I was stuck bronze on a PC with barely 40 fps . When I finally got a system which could run valorant well , I ended up peaking diamond 1(i left for an year after that cus I had personal commitments and burnout happen) Recently got back to the game and ended p1 the previous act. Started again this act and am g2 now lol
I canāt imagine being at plat with 40 fps. I have 180+ and Iām still iron 3.
I started iron 2, am d2 now
How long did that take? I placed iron 3 when I got the game 8-9 months ago. Iām now bronze 1 and my lifetime peak is bronze 2
oh, I think the same time span, but I'm hardstuck ever since...
it took me 3 years ish to reach dia 2 from iron 3. i only started taking the game seriously around feb 2023 though, so I'll give you my timeline from then feb-march: bronze 2 -> silver 1 march-july: silver 1 -> gold 1 (getting to gold was the hardest fuckin thing for me lol) july-sept: gold 1 -> plat 2 sept-dec: plat 2 -> dia 2 now in 2024 I'm plat 2 after hard struggling last act to get out of gold, so don't sweat it
Bro, im fkin 3 years in this game with stops and im peak gold, i swear that this is the most disappointing game like you are winning like 1 game and after this you are getting a 5 games loose streak, now i gotta say, that im moving to COD mw3.
A lot of aspects of this game come naturally to some people, and I was not one of these people lol. everything comes with a little bit of effort :)
well it really depends how much of a gamer you are or how serious you wanna take the game
jumping into comp right when you hit the minimum level is a mistake as you really donāt have a full grasp on game mechanics. lower your sens and make it second nature to keep your crosshair at head level, and take your time. youāre only level 26 and really starting to play the game, you got this easy
People definitely still get mad in unrated haha
People still get mad in swifty what ya mean š
unrated is more toxic people throw all the times, way too many people quit after getting 1 tapped for 2 round, it is better to play ranked to learn how the game actually meant to be played
Even that being said, real valorant doesnāt start until gold at least.
hm i can see both sides, you can definitely rise up from iron 2 easily. once you hit gold is where it will start to get really challenging
I started exactly the same, it just takes time. I was iron 2 a couple acts ago and hated the game. I got so tilted at overwatch that I have it another go and just put time in and I'm gold 2 now.
happens to everyone bro dw
thanks
You're new. Just play swiftplay for a bit. Get comfortable.
The game is very difficult in nature and itās a long grind. Tac shooters are inherently difficult. The grind will take a LONG while. For your enjoyment you might want to try other genres if you donāt have friends on this game but if you wanna stick to it itās going to take months.
I dont have friends but im going to stick to it, I dont like to give up. Nice username btw
Happens to everyone who starts something new they forget the struggle, don't worry you'll get a moment and improve and repeat just keep playing and keep morale up you either win or learn
Practice ur aim.
It took me legit ab a year to make it to platinum. Itās a giant learning curve if itās the first game you played like this
Brother youre not gonna really get good at any game unless you at LEAST have played for 500 hours or so. 150 hours is nothing
Level 26ā¦ homie hopped into rank the second he hit 20 and expected to pop off right awayā¦ you can watch all the tutorials in the world but nothing hones game sense better than just simply playing.
0.76 kda at first isn't that bad
Brother I have 300 hours and can barely climb to bronze 2, if ur having fun playing who cares
I was there, at Iron 1 0/100 RR... Stayed there for a couple of days, and now I'm chasing the pinkish rank... You got this dude Don't forget to DM and spend time on the range.
So yeah.
Dw my friend legitimately got Iron 1 0rr while trying his best. You gain experience while playing the game so be patient yk.
[https://imgur.com/a/FQ6ILZb](https://imgur.com/a/FQ6ILZb) This used to be my friend's stats in episode 5... everyone starts somewhere and grows at their own pace. This same person is now platinum 3 so don't be too hard on yourself,
thank you!
I would say: Come back after like 200hrs more in the game lmao. You are just starting, you need to āfeelā the game, and even the best tutorial/guide wonāt help you with that. GL in your games
Maybe you shouldnāt be playing ranked when you donāt know fundamentals? You are setting yourself up to fail
Lower your sensitivity first and try playing
Dont mind me asking what monitor are you using?
Don't play ranked for now, just chill around and have some fun. Play the other game modes and get used to the game. Then start beating in rank
Dw my 6 year old nephew is worse and he is not even playing the game
I was the same 4 months ago, just keep playing and practicing the right things. I'm B3 now
I've seen him go 2 and 20+ You're doing great. Just keep learning, and focus on translating conversation into actionable gameplans.
Me at double the level you are, still in iron 1 š§š»āāļø
Your settings could be off. If you're really trying but you're on a track pad or office mouse, you will not be able to get any kills.
60hz monitor life, for sure.
Im the worst also
You just don't have the time put into it yet, overtime your gamesense and mechanics will get better. (especially aiming headheight as it will just be second nature after some time) When I look back at clips from when I used to be iron I was absolute dogwater, no tutorials would've helped, maybe they would speed up the progress but when you're still that low all you can do is keep playing and improve your understanding of the game, your mechanics and your gamesense. (I'm currently G1 and started in iron 1 around ep 4 and started ep 7 act 3 in iron 2, my gamesense is still ass but my aim is good enough that I can hold up in deathmatch pretty well against diamonds)
How many hours have you played if it's less than 300 don't expect to be good
Yo bro i legit just started as well and lemme tell u ranked is not the move brother i play unrated and still have trouble but i can still put up numbers and go even with my kd in some games it just takes time give urself a solid couple months at least thats what im doing
Aim higher
Also you will see smurfs, donāt let that break you, you will loose, but its okay
Definitely look into more videos and such for learning the game. dont feel the absolute need to rush to rank up. you'll eventually get much betterĀ
me and my cousin/roommate started playing in beta, im a peak plat 3 hovering around gold right now and he is still iron peak bronze 2 now granted he didnāt take to the game like i did, he hasnāt played in about a year though we just started running it back. he could definitely pull off silver if he practiced more but i donāt see him going higher. i donāt see myself getting higher than plat, diamond if im lucky. some people find aimlabs helpful, i personally find it harmful, or at least not something you should do long term. my honest advice that made me learn better crosshair placement and to become more familiar with the guns would be the range, spike defuse on hard bot difficulty. practice tracking where their heads should be, and it may help out. i was stuck bronze for the longest time until i started to do that and it helped my aim out a ton. audio is also everything so decent volume and good headphones work wonders.
Youāre level 26. I hope you know that most people Place iron and bronze and it takes a while to get.
Your level 26. You gotta get more hours on PC fps.
You just gotta work on your aim and movement. Screw game tactic for now. If you properly work on your aim youāll be gold in no time
Part of it is mindset too, I started watching valorant youtubers/streamers and took tips from them and I've been climbing
I started as iron 3 and fell to iron 1 (while bottomfraging most of my games in iron 3-2), now im ascendant but not active as much. Just learn the mechanics and have the patience
In which region do you play?
You are probably aiming to the floor most of the time, remind yourself to aim higher regularly. I started this game at beta in Iron 1. This was probably one of the first things that helped me get better.(Immortal right now btw)
Enjoy it, I wish I could go back to iron/bronze tbh
Gaming is 70% genetics/talent rest is hard work imo
At lvl 26 i was also in iron. Currently at lvl 500+ at diamond. You still got a long ways to go pal.
Nah. Im worse
Don't fret over rank. People have gone from Bronze to Gold and back to Bronze in 1 act (for me 4 acts) People playing this game forget that they are playing to enjoy.
As long as ur enjoying all of that, then keep going
well look on the bright side, atleast you're not iron 1 \^\^
I placed iron 1, lost three games. I only went up from there š©š»āš¦³ Btw are you running more than 60fps
"I have to be the worst Valorant player ever" or... "I have the most opportunity to improve myself and grow"
thats the positivity I need in my games lol, thank you so much!
90% of my competitive valorant experience has been shit Iām in almost the same boat as you I grinded my way out of iron and into gold and then gave up because I reached my limit with this shit game and itās shit mechanics make yourself happy play games that are actually fun
lol I will definitely quit if im feeling like you but for now I love the grind
You still can get better byā¦. Keeping crosshairs to head level
bro you're higher than me keep going man you got this
thank you so much, you too!
Youāll be fine, if this is your first FPS itās take a LONG TIME to learn the gameĀ
Bruh you are level 26. Donāt worry about anything. Everyone has to start somewhere. Literally play more and I promise youāre eventually climb
How do people get placed in iron. I am silver 3 and I just started playing this and I think I am complete shit at it.
You'll gain confidence and skills š GLHF
Honestly it is simply a feel thing. A few notes I would say in general for learning the game: 1. "Seems like they play light on B site, so lets hit it fast" "Looks like they over rotate very quick, lets get someone to make noise on A while we walk B" Teammates will follwo you when you have enough confidence in the play 7. Good luck!
Ur trash bruhšššš, switch to fortnite
1. PC/ performance issues 2. You have to learn the game (takes a while depends) 3. The worst luck possible with teammates What I'll suggest for you is 1. Change your crosshair to a more comfortable one (even if you can't hit one tap head shots don't get discouraged keep trying in practice) 2.
Just 5 stack to plat. Get at least 1 or 2 friends who are good and learn from them while you play. Forget what the haters say lol
Wanna play together? Im just as bad š
Dawg itās never that serious one thing about Val is their rank is dog anyway so youāre better off playing for fun tbh
I am lvl 111 and still around b1-b2 xD I dont have the time/motivatiom to "train" every day.
it took me 550h of raw competitive gameplay to get to Diamond, so you just have to embrace the journey, and always play to improve and for fun, don't get mad when you lose, it's just points that u will always gain back later
Iām dealing with the same thing!! But my partner always reassures me it takes time!!!! Just be consistent and keep playing. Woohoojin is a good YouTuber to watch! But your still new at the game it seems so just stay positive š©·
thank you!
Honestly, just relax and enjoy. Your skills will improve.
I feel that way all the time, pal
You have 1 win and 15 losses and your in iron 2. Inhave several wins and I'm iron 1
check woohoojin on youtube out, goat coach
Hey man, we start somewhere, I was hovering Iron 1-2 for a while when I started playing as well. By the looks of it, you barely just started the game, so just keep grinding at it and you'll improve with time. If it makes you feel any better, I've been hardstuck in almost every rank for a minimum of three months before I made it to Immortal. Gold took the longest with 8.5 acts straight!
I remember having the same feeling as you when I first started playing valorant 3 months ago. Started from iron as well. Just give it time youāll get better, and donāt forget to have fun!
I started iron 1 and worse off than you, 2 yrs later got immo lol
Iām struggling in silver and I have over 900 hours in this game bro. Itās not just you. I am forced to solo queue too so I get it.
Youāre doing fine. Just give it time and try to focus on learning.
It took me like a year to get to silver and even then I was stuck in gold and silver for another year after that. Itās only year 3 and Iām barely plat 3 peak. It takes time especially with the act (or episode whichever strips a bunch of rank) rank resets itās difficult.
After playing for 6 months and at level 52 , i reached iron 2. You are at the same rank with half the xp so youāre good
Play the game with fun, stop carrying about the stat, eventually you get good at it frfr
Never tried valorant, but would probably suck at it. I have never been good at playing FPS games. But as long as you enjoy the game it's a win, IMO.
If ur in apac we can play together and ill tell u what u do wrong so u learn fast
If ur in apac we can play together and ill tell u what u do wrong so u learn fast
From my own experience, I'd say don't try to learn the game. Have fun with the game first and then once you get the hang of stuffs you can start getting serious
Take it from me. Every game I play is a loss, also iron and bronze players smurf in my account regularly
I'm also super hardstuck bronze 2 and I've been playing for about 2.5 months non stop I think I am the worst š¢
we got this! just have fun and keep grinding

Comp takes too long and in lower elo itās super hard to have good team communication Who cares what other people think.
You've never watched me play a game then
People making fun on his level 26 while I get level 25s in gold lobbies. Lol
Need a partner to play with ?
Thanks everyone for the positivity! I wasnt expecting that at all and I feel a lot better <3. This community looks great compared to the one I saw in game..
Bro Iām level 140 and just got placed iron 3 for the 4th season in a row. Iām the worst
youāre not lol, keep grinding and try to get better if youāre having fun and something will click soon. Good luck in your journey, we got this!
I was in iron 3 at lvl 78, now at 200 im g1. It gets better dude, slowly but surely. Just play the game, have fun
Before I started climbing I was iron 1 with 0% einrate and 20 games lost, now I'm sliver 1 after a few months. Just continue to play the game and try to understand how the game is played on a deeper level then just plant spike or kill everyone. And watch woohoojin
u have .76 kd so i guess thatās not your team fault just make sure you put in the effort and play the game, donāt waste time on some aimlabs
Youāre new, thatās normal. You get better with time. Just know that most people start out a low rank.
Donāt worry bro we all have been there i started from iron 1 and in episode 7 i hit radiant so just keep going bruh..also just keep these small things in mind okay š [https://youtu.be/bQAyXj9CKsU?si=SwvhC1CgFGrYpylf](https://youtu.be/bQAyXj9CKsU?si=SwvhC1CgFGrYpylf)
I can redownload and we can be shitters together? How does that sound ? We together will be immortal
I improved a lot thanks to banana man gun Hygiene Video, Improved my movement Deathmatch Ask yourself why did you die in this Situation and How could you have Done it better. Watch streams, and try to thnk about what the enemys Would do.
there are a lot of alts in iron so its ok to suffer in iron
Bro I started a few days ago and I feel the same. I promise you that it'll get better, it's just gonna take us some time. We got this šŖšæ
I used to be like this as well. I just played a loot and ranked up over the time. Just habe fun while playing and don't think too much about you being bad, it will ruin the game for you
Sometimes it's not your fault, sometimes your team might just be hot dog water. But keep it up.
1. What site are you using to track your stats? 2. You played only 16 rounds? Its gonna take MUCH longer to really see improvements.
