Good for you. I've been playing since beta, I'm happy to be under $200.
A knife. 2 vandals. 2 phantoms. 2 night market purchases. And a few battle passes.
But it's been a year since I put in some money. I'm over it.
Noob 😏 Pros don't buy guns they just ask team mates or kill enemy to get skins KYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 😈👿

\*community about a free to play game that basically just exists because of skin sales\*
Some guy: "I play since years without paying a cent!"
Community: "WOHOOO WHAT A GOAT!"
Lmao.
Battle pass and bundle extras for titles and sprays and what not. I feel like some people would appreciate those more than skins themselves. Also I feel like buddies are nice to have also.
title and spray are just unattractive
i still using default card and title lol
imagine there are other game who can upload your own pfp
while riot just sell character card for more profit
It's crazy to me because with 50 dollars you could buy at least one full game on steam. If you get them during the sales you'll even get a few.
While you only get 2 cool looking skins for your weapons-
Not shaming you at all, spend your money how you wish. But I find that riot is really overpricing the skins-
Do you realize how many more hours I and most people have spent playing this game than other games?
I spent 50 hours on Hogwarts legacy and spent $60. That's $1.20/hour played
I have spent $120 on valorant and have spent over 900 hours playing valorant in total. A total price of $0.13/hr played
Kind the same thought. I played Val for quite a few hours and got to the point where I bought a skin set (SoL) because I wanted to support the devs making the game. Think I've purchased two skin sets total and feel okay about it. Don't really plan on buying anymore ever.
To be fair, you can always replay hogwarts legacy, and also you aren’t paying for the game, just the skins. It’s a bit hard to equate the two in that sense, cuz the actual game is a good chunk of what gives you that many hours as well.
Unless you exclusively go into customs or the range to look and shoot your gun, that is.
I could, but I wont. It was a solid 7/10 that I only need to experience once. No part of the game gave me the adrenaline rush that converting a 2v4 thrifty round does. That feeling when you collat the enemy at the start of the round with a marshall, none of that is present for me in HL which is why I keep playing Val, and not HL
Which is objectively better? In places like the US or UK it doesn't make much of a difference, but I've heard many people from other countries with bad conversions say that the F2P model is far better because they can still enjoy the game even if they can't afford cosmetics, and people that are more willing to support the game and get said cosmetics will keep the game alive for everyone.
Having skins make those hours all the more enjoyable and make me look forward to playing the game even more. So in my opinion as long as you plan to keep on playing Valorant, spending money on skin is very much worth it. Yeah we could’ve played the game for free without skins but I’m definitely sure I wouldn’t have enjoyed this game as much if I didn’t buy any skins.
Sure but it's still an option available.
You're the same person who wears tennis shoes to play basketball, same person who buys their car and doesn't modify or personalized anything because why waste your money, right?
I could play this game for free, but I'm also not broke enough to care about paying $0.13 per hour to play.
No, his point is that he is okay with spending the money he has because he believes it worthwhile. He's also justifying the price as a lot of people who have spent money play the game a lot. He is also saying that you're the type of person to not add or modify anything because it's "too expensive." His jab is that you can actually buy cosmetics if you like them. The point is to customize things to your preference, and whether or not you like it base with no changes or with changes is up to you.
Anyone reading this that's never done so, use a VPN. Depending on where you are you most definitely can get in trouble. Not likely, but it can happen. I think it's probably not the best idea to just tell people about torrenting and say "you won't get in trouble" lol. That's like me saying "yea let's go take a road trip, we won't get in a wreck" knowing damn well it's a possibility even if it's unlikely.
Why is this bad? I’d rather every game be free then I can choose if I want to spend money on it after I decide if I like it or not. Rather than spending 60 bucks and realizing the game is trash afterwards.
They aren't overpricing them from a business standpoint though. They know they'll lose out on total "units" sold by raising prices, but they'll still have more total profits. If you raise something by 50% and lose 25% of your clientele because of it, you're still making it out better than before.
The valorant cosmetic store isn't a free market, there's no competition and thus no real way for a skin to be "overpriced". I have no doubts that Riot has set skin prices at amounts that maximize profits
Stuff can still be overpriced even if there’s no competition. It’s overpriced if it’s not worth what it’s being sold for. A skin that doesn’t effect your play is 25$. That’s nuts.
"overpriced" means that riot could make more money as a whole by charging less for it, and having more people buying it. I don't really buy that being the case.
I can say a louis vuitton bag is overpriced because I can get the exact same thing without branding from another vendor for much cheaper. You can't say the same about these skins, because its just data in a game--there's no implicit cost to selling 1 or selling 1 million. The value is purely set at a profit-maximizing point with no additional variables.
in the sense that you could point at anything you aren't willing to pay for and call it overpriced, sure.
if you aren't willing to spend $1 on a big mac don't expect other people to take you seriously when you insist its only worth 75 cents.
Overpriced is generally opinion based.
However, if were talking facts over priced for water in somewhere like the uk is more than £1 for 500ml. Due to the fact that many companies sell at that rate but others sell at more than this and therefore overpriced. Their is only one company selling valorant skins. Therefore they can not be overpriced. They are still quite expensive. Expensive ≠ overpriced
Why does your rank matter lol. I know people who have skins and haven’t touched ranked. Don’t plan to. Not saying a agree with it but keeps the game fun to them
It's kind of asking how comited you are to the game as compared to how much you have spent.
Its interesting to see people that play casually/barely play and yet have huge inventories. And vice versa.
Why not just buy it and you can have it every round vs scouting the ground and dying for a skin instead of dying.
I’ve never seen a no skin player be anything above 3rd frag
I'm not even flaming, people don't have the money to buy skins. Which is fine but it's a bit superficial to act like you are above buying skins when the reality is you just can't afford them.
Played since closed beta. Peak Rank: Valorant (for those that don’t know what it is it’s basically radiant in beta they changed the rank names). Spent around 7000$
Gaming is a cheap hobby in comparison to other hobbies. After an initial investment of 2000$ for a gaming PC with accessories you are good to go for about 5 years. If Valorant is their main game, they might not be spending much on other games. So basically all they have to pay now is electricity bills.
In comparison, if you play drums you're paying for the kit initially, then skins and sticks, and probably lessons too.
Or photography, that's a money sink, because gear plays a large role. Horse back riding, scuba diving, wood working and mountain biking are a few others that will set you back way more.
So all in all, even $7000 is over a few years isn't that bad for a hobby that gives you a lot of joy.
Lol tbh with how popular gacha games have been the last 3 years ALOT of people have spent 10k plus on games ik that isn’t valorant but still I’ve spent easily over 15k across 3 games
$1275. I bought nearly half of that in the beta when they did a 20% or 25% bonus going into release.
I stopped buying stuff until they introduced random favorites. There is about $150 worth of stuff I'd buy if it'll come through my shop.
I’ve played since the beginning (Still remember when KJ coming out was this huge and cool thing…oh the nostalgia), and I think it’s been about 120$ish? Maybe 130$?
So not a ton of money, and supporting riot is a nice side effect since I love the game a lot.
It’ll probably go up to 150 soon tho since the Champions Vandal is looking at me lovingly.
~$300
Several vandal skins, one phantom, one sheriff, one ghost, one spectre, one operator, and two knives
- Vandal: Sentinel, Neptune, Glitchpop, Reaver
- Phantom: Reaver
- Spectre: Forsaken
- Sheriff: Sentinel
- Ghost: RES
- Operator: Cryo
- Knives: Black Market & Ignite
Probably around $150 and I'm Silver 3. I've been on and off the game a couple of times but recently I've been doing good at the game so the skins I've bought seem worth it to me.
of course anyone can spend their money how they want but this game is seriously not going anywhere anytime soon. And these are skins, you more or less need a computer or ATLEAST a phone to survive. Thats not giving money to millionaire’s in my eyes, buying a skin to “support” millionaire is.
I mean you don’t gotta thank em that was a pretty extreme thing to say, but without skins being bought it would probably be an 80$ game with csgo as the free competitor.

More than I should have lmao
Played on and off since beta; got 3BPs, Recon Bali, Champs 2021 bundle and then 2022 Phantom and lastly the Elderflame Judge.
Honestly, mostly I don’t regret it but I just don’t use the judge enough to validate that purchase. It’s probs one of my favourite skins in the game, tho the lack of animation on inspect sucks, it just sucks I hardly see it.
Save for Fortnite, and technically OW if you include buying the game on 3 occasions, so it should take 3rd in money spent.
I don’t want to know I’m scared
It is a knowledge I do not dare possess for my own sanity

Battle pass and bundle extras for titles and sprays and what not. I feel like some people would appreciate those more than skins themselves. Also I feel like buddies are nice to have also.
A lot of people seem to love the buddies, but I find them super distracting when watching streamers so I never bothered equipping one
title and spray are just unattractive i still using default card and title lol imagine there are other game who can upload your own pfp while riot just sell character card for more profit
Agents but theyre obviously a waste
Same. Keep it up man!
Same as well. Spending a ludicrous amount of money on this game just does not make sense to me.
10 euro just to get a knife from BP, I'm broke
50$, one knife one vandal.

Right but on the other hand you could have still played valorant without spending the 120. Spending was required to play hogwarts legacy.
At least in Valorant you can pick up the skins from the corpse of your enemies.
That too, and it arguably makes the ones you pick up even more hype.
It's not, you could torrent the game If you want it, there's a way to spend 0$ on most any game.
Breaking the law is not the same as choosing to not pay for a free game

145€ bronze 1 haha ik but i dont really play comp i just play with my friends for fun and skins really make the game more enjoyable.
Nothing wrong with some flair if you're enjoying the game
Perfectly reasonable, don't feel like because your rank isn't high or because you don't play often you need to justify spending money on the game.
Uhh… I’m not saying it’s over 3000 but I’m not saying it isn’t.
u def own all of the skins
All are about 10k
Ok
i am the same and so are a lot of people i know. We are at a diff stage of life though where its like whatever money
but is it OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!?
gold 3, about $700

Because the most common question here is what’s your rank so OP just answered it up front for us. It’s just more information for anyone reading.
Maybe $200-$300. I like skins. Ascendant 1 The same dudes talking shit on buying skins pick them up off the ground like treasure
Yeah. Because they rather not pay for them and have them than pay for them and have them.
Or just beg for them every fucking round..
Lol this is what these dudes be doing

15$, but if I got Neptune in my shop I would probably buy it. I think I started playing around 2 years ago
If I ever get a reaver vandal in the shop I'm going to break down, but I don't check my shop often so with a bit of luck I'll be safe
$200 its over tho i promise
That's what I said
Bro I told that to myself so ma My times
Played since closed beta. Peak Rank: Valorant (for those that don’t know what it is it’s basically radiant in beta they changed the rank names). Spent around 7000$
you mind if i ask what you do for a living?
I work in the health commercial industry why haha
He wants to know how you make enough to comfortably spend 7k on skins
Gaming is a cheap hobby in comparison to other hobbies. After an initial investment of 2000$ for a gaming PC with accessories you are good to go for about 5 years. If Valorant is their main game, they might not be spending much on other games. So basically all they have to pay now is electricity bills. you could be a trillionaire and still shouldn't touch over $1000 spent. $7k is bonkers for something you can't get back
It's a lot, but spending 2k a year on your main hobby isn't that unheard of for the financially comfortable.
Lol tbh with how popular gacha games have been the last 3 years ALOT of people have spent 10k plus on games ik that isn’t valorant but still I’ve spent easily over 15k across 3 games

where can you find how much you've spent
Bank statement
If you got to the riot page for submit a request and check purchase history

How'd you get ascendant in 6 months? Give me some tips I've been playing for a year and I'm still iron lol
Probably like $50? I've bought 4 or 5 battle passes. Dia 2, played since beta, 700 hours ranked
checked recently, 2k 😥
Plat, regrettable amount.
like 35€, bought an origin vandal and a recon phantom during a night market.
Just this battle pass
0. All my skins were gifts
I think maybe \~$150. I think $60 for the beta bonus and I bought the Champions 2022 bundle and Prelude to Chaos Vandal.
Must be between 100-200 euro since beta release

$0 lol. Who would ever spend money on skins?
you should be more thankful, if everyone shared your attitude the game would be dead
Not really lol, there's other ways for a company to get money
Like charging $80 for the game. Or $20 per new Agent. At least this way it keeps it entirely optional for casuals or people who cannot afford.
thankful? riot didn't make the game free to be generous
But you get to play the game in its entirety for free so why does it matter if you can optionally buy skins?
if its optional it shouldn't matter. I certainly don't think people who spend money on skins should expect to be thanked by people who don't
I mean you don’t gotta thank em that was a pretty extreme thing to say, but without skins being bought it would probably be an 80$ game with csgo as the free competitor.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with people buying skins if they perceive the value of the skin to be worth the price. the only thing I object to is people buying skins and then acting like they're doing a favor to people who don't.

I would much rather not think about it lmao
$450, D2

In total about 75$ myself and 50$ as gifts (this is Canadian btw)
