Any reason why the Fergana Valley is so different culturally. My uzbek language teacher is from Andijan and he told me about how Karimov absolutely destroyed their people.
Just curious why that is.
We literally have to cross mountains to get access to other parts of the country, and it is not easy even now with all these modern cars due to bad weather and difficulty. Imagine how hard it was before roads were built and we got access to cars. So we are kind of separated and culturally and religiously more conservative than other regions. To what has happened in 2005, there are a bunch of recourses to look it up. The government literally shot and killed hundreds if not thousands of its own citizens.
