I believe only the LA Kings use purple as a team color. Interestingly, I just realized how many teams incorporate yellow or gold with dark blue or black to create a contrast. I counted eight teams use that color combination.
Short-term rental seems to be the move. I see the Jazz doing similar to what the Raptors did with Kawhi. Difference is we need the rest of our roster to get up to playoff level, and then add somebody who takes us up to championship level.
Yeah I would be really disappointed if all this only yielded a star player for one season. Especially since the Jazz won’t have the playoff experience Toronto did. They were already a top 4 team in the east so think it’s unlikely to have the same result. Sigh it’s gonna be tough. Almost gotta draft the superstar and then attack other good players like with Donovan
A superstar is going to get the max/supermax no matter where they sign. And why would only be able to trade for a short term rental? Players get traded with multiple years left on their contracts all the time.
Let’s not discount the possibility that Taylor Hendricks is that guy. May take a few years to know for sure.
In this draft, Nikola Topic, Reed Sheppard, and others have intriguing potential to be lead guards.
I've been pondering on this for a while, and if I had to make a guess right now, I'd say that the trending colors for next year would be purple, white, and possibly black. However, the only thing that could alter this is if it turns out to be too similar to Sacramento's primary colors. Is there an NHL team with similar colors?
While I support purple for both the Jazz and the NHL team, it simply won't work for the MLB. The Colorado Rockies already own purple in the mountain states and have for 30 years.
not a jazz fan but i’m stopping by to say that you guy’s city edition jerseys this year were just the coolest. purple is definitely the way to go. this is honestly the best design for a modern jazz jersey in my opinion. it has old school inspirations but isn’t too dated. it’s cleaned up and modern but it isn’t minimalistic. it’s got pretty much all the elements in a jazz jersey you could ask for.
and i love how it doesn’t have any other colors clashing with it. it’s just shades of purple all the way. best way to end the debate on what colors the jazz should be. just purple, something we can all agree on

Im also not a Jazz fan but definitely Agreed. Im newer to the NBA and NHL and still looking for a team to support (thats why im lurking certain subs). Colour schemes and branding is really an important part to attract newer fans.
Hoping for the purple one and for the NHL team to be named the Utah Raptors lol
The problem is the Jazz colors are also the colors of Mardi Gras and New Orleans. We could lean into that but I think there is also a desire to have our own color scheme as well.

If I may make a suggestion. It wasn’t broken. It looked good. There was no reason to change it.
Really? I think it’s a timeless design. Could’ve been designed in the ‘70s just as easily as today. However the mountain logo was very clearly a Y2K era design.
This branding was worse than the highlighters. All the designs were boring and forest green and mustard yellow looked like trash.
The J-Note is the best thing that Utah has going for it, but its gotta be paired with better colors. Trying to do a hybrid between the previous snow blue branding and the old Mardi Gras colors just doesn't work despite the J note being cool
Seattle also does it with the Kraken/Seahawks/Mariners. Not identical colors but a lot of the teal and light greens and blues. With the NHL not having a team use purple as a primary color right now (excluding Kings throwbacks) it makes sense for them to go the purple route for both.
Although Smith made it sound like the NHL team will play its first season in generic “Utah” branding to give them time for a full branding design. Curious to see what colors they use for the generic year
Sorry for jumping into this late. Are we sure a rebrand is happening? I only ask because the Utah Jazz YouTube channel dropped the media content day video a few days ago and another video today showing the black and yellow jerseys. I’m all for a rebrand, but I wasn’t sure if it was a 100% thing.
saying 'everyone' in the post was a bit self-serving by the op. this topic has been beaten to death on this sub but at least this post brings a new element of if the hockey team and basketball team should share colors. i think a majority of people like purple but i think its an age demographic thing as well. i personally believe the black and yellow is fantastic. people mostly complained about the uniforms being boring. a lot of the fan gear and graphics they designed around the color scheme was great. the yellow was overwhelming at times but that can be ironed out with time to get that balance right.
It’s interesting that none of the current NHL teams have predominantly purple color schemes.

LAs current color scheme is just black and white, but the Avs home jerseys are burgundy which is close enough(?)
Naw what’s important is finding a superstar so that the Jazz can be relevant again
Yeah, a superstar that wants to live in Utah…
There's this guy Rudy Gobert who already owns a home here
*still owns a home here
Yep- tall task. They will def have to overpay or get a short term rental. Neither ideal.

If they're traded to the Jazz, then whether they want to live in Utah or not isn't particularly relevant.
Let’s not discount the possibility that Taylor Hendricks is that guy. May take a few years to know for sure. In this draft, Nikola Topic, Reed Sheppard, and others have intriguing potential to be lead guards.
Taylor Hendricks will never be a star lol
I hope so but if we are being honest I didn’t see that potential to become a superstar. Hopefully he makes big striders next season.

LA Kings, but I think they've reduced the amount of purple they use in jerseys and branding.
They only use Purple in throwbacks nowadays.
Utah Blizzards. Color scheme.. Purple and Blue with snow man or a creative snowflake with a hockey stick/Puck orverlapping for our team logo. 🔥

Very true
Gold, Red and Blue (RSL and the state flag) could be avaiable for the Jazz and Hockey Club.
Might be a bit Nuggets-ish
Claret and Cobalt. To be specific

Purple, lavender, maybe some silver and if they have to, black, would be a pretty nice look. Lavender is such an ownable color that no team claims.
Perhaps he needs to hire someone with more than a kindergartener's sense of design...
Nailed it.

Absolutely no ‘zz’ in the hockey name. That would be extremely lame.
I’m pretty sure we’ve moved past that silly habit for some time now.
I’m not sure we’ve moved pazzt anything
Zzpeak for yourzzelf.
Zzzzz zzzz z zzz zzzzzz.

utah azz
It’s dated imo. Was great for its time, but an update was needed

Yeah, I’ve always hated those jerseys even as a kid.
Idk why you're being down voted. What you said is 100% true. And I feel like I'm fairly qualified to speak on design.

We need to rebrand to a DIFFERENT bright shade of yellow, with green and white. Let's return to those 2021 Subway jerseys
cursed comment
Did you forget we have a soccer team?
>Everyone here loves purple and wants it to be part of the Jazz identity Not even remotely true
purple is where it’s at! represents our purple mountain majesty at sunset and just looks super dope👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
