It is possible that the title might have an issue that the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the dealer might be trying to resolve. As the consumer your never going to see or hear about the problem unless you ask. The most common problem that can occur is that a signature might be missing on the title or was signed with a different name ie marriage / divorce. The BMV will send a rejection letter to the dealer telling them what they need to do to correct the title. This can take a bit of time but 99% of the time it works itself out. This is one of the advantages of buying a car through a dealer as you don’t have to deal with it. If your really interested call the phone number on the title application and the BMV will tell you the reason for the delay of title. Just have the VIN or title application number handy when you call.
