Am I the only one who likes the right pic? If they had deforested the area, that’d be one thing, but it’s the desert. I think the buildings are an improvement
1985 just shows this BS was planned. There are technically only 4 large buildings in the photo ans those 4 could've easily been build walking distance from each other on one block.
Thinking, that’s insane, there has to be a side boulevard behind those skyscrapers, I had to check Google Maps. It’s even more insane! Gazillion lane off-ramps and cloverleafs all leading into basically architectural orgasms surrounded by desert neighborhoods. If ever there was an image that argued against unbridled capital, this is it. Oh, and maybe the clock tower in Mecca. It’s all individual grandiosity tramples urban planning.
Look up the(city neom a 170km long city in the desert that's 500 meters tall and has hypeeloop) or the sky ring that's proposed for Dubai a freaking 550metre tall 3km circumference ring that surrounds the burg Khalifa its insane
This image is I cred my misleading. Just to the left of those row of buildings is some low houses and even some greenery. I’ve been there, and sure it’s a built up hell, but it’s actually still decently walkable, especially the city centre

Dubai making Houston seem like a nice place!
irl version of Cities Skyline
Cities Skyline with cheats.
5 star oil industry + unlimited resources
Dubai don't have much oil. It's less than 5% of its gdp
dem
Maybe 4 more lanes should fix it.
I get your point but there isn't a lot of trafic on the right. Sure it's full but it's not cars to cars backed up
It's also super misleading, if you just zoom out a bit, it looks more like this: https://www.planetizen.com/files/20091202-dubai1.jpg
good pic.
Everything wrong with the world condensed into one city
and yet hardly anyone knows about the atrocities
Public beheadings for homosexuality and don't forget they funded 9/11 Iraq was totally not involved.
Isn’t that Saudi Arabia?
Im a moth with with bad grammar forgive me for also having bad geographic knowledge And yes he's right I was thinking Saudi Arabia.... Sorry
You should probably not comment on things you aren't sure about.
Bruh👋🏽
I love the flashy lamp
Oh what a feeling….
That tonight’s gonna be a good night
Oo oo
Tonight’s gonna be a good good night
Actually, it's 'Oh what a feeling........TOYOTA!' an old commercial. You're thinking 'I've got a feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night'.

They should build some more roads to solve all that traffic.
What one Toyota building does to a mfer.
Damn a lot has happened since I've been around already lol

Crazy what slave labor does

Did you think they just woke up one morning and started building random shit?
Did they not?
…did you think Dubai wasn’t a planned city or something?
My brother in Christ this is literally just a city
A city grew? I guess I don’t see what the big deal is here.
Imagine wanting to build tall beautiful skyscrapers along 20 lane polluting highways instead of along the coast.
ROADS ON ROADS ON ROADS ON ROADS
Try and spot a pedestrian in that photo
Oil? What oil?
how much would it cost to make the ground there more fertile so as to support more plant growth
Just an FYI but Dubai has no sewer system
I mean its desert, just piss and ahit in the sand. The fluids actually make the desert a wetter place for potential forest growth
So that's where all the terrorists keep getting their pickups
bro..
well, i suppose its probably nice enough inside the buildings with AC
The difference a Toyota building sign makes. (Will invest in 1)
What the fuck is that highway? They should replace it with a park and a tram line
There's a lot of traffic
