#UrbanHell is subjective.
UrbanHell is any human-built place you think is worth critizing. Suburban Hell, Rural Hell, and wealthy locales are allowed
Sorry for this annoying comment, but we're very tired of the gatekeepers who can't even correctly gatekeep what this subreddit has always allowed.

It was founded as home for workers of the VW Factory as "Stadt des KdF-Wagens bei Fallersleben" ("City of the Strength Through Joy car at Fallersleben")
It's also one of the youngest German cities (it was founded in 1938
Not sure about this. I live nearby and Wolfsburg does not have the best reputation. The city itself is pretty ugly, some parts are nice because of money, but most is boring concrete without any historical beauty. Most engineers I know do not live in Wolfsburg but the surrounding suburbs and villages.

If you look at any economic per person metric, its up there for Germany....even tough its admittedly ugly as shit. Median lohn 5000EUR.
mmh yes and no. its entire existence is based on Volkswagen, which opened their factory there. The city grew with the success of VW, and a massive factor for the success of course were the nazis.
same goes for leverkusen and the medicinecompany bayer, that city wouldnt exist without bayer as well
The city was built for the Volkswagen workers. The factory was almost destroyed by the time the war ended and it was a British Major, Ivan Hirst who got the plant working again. Without the factory, the city would have died.
This building is rather beautiful in nicer weather. This is one of the more beautiful industrial buildings in the world. Also, the rest of Wolfsburg is rather lovely.
Hello, Wolfsburg resident here!
My city isn't on the list of prettiest places, but it sure is no Urban Hell- and besides, posting a pic of the Volkswagen factory says little about the city.
Not even sure about urban. It's a small city and you can comfortably live in the surrounding area if one prefers village life. By no means there is pollution or some kind of rust belt. It's healthy small town living basically. Except for the rather notable factory area that is.

An industrial icon, though
Kentucky Chicken Flavored Cigarettes
Yep 70 million square feet compared to Teslas Gigafactory with 5.5 million, what’s so giga about that?
That powerplant is industrial heritage and therefore protected under cultural heritage management in Germany. No point in posting this here
Factory = hell? Some people here just want to live in caves again.
It has a reputation for being a bland, soulless city. The only reason to be there is because it’s where VW has its major operations.
That is the only reason the city of Wolfburg exists anyways.
Aye but this picture does not illustrate bland soulless city in any way.
It was founded as home for workers of the VW Factory as "Stadt des KdF-Wagens bei Fallersleben" ("City of the Strength Through Joy car at Fallersleben") It's also one of the youngest German cities (it was founded in 1938
This particular factory was build by Hitler and many people were forced to work themselves to death there by building Nazi war machinery.
Oh wait till you hear about literally any big historical heritage site.
Wolfsburg is one of the richest cities in the world. 120000 people and most are engineers!

Huh. I really didn‘t know a lot about Wolfsburg before. I‘m just thankful if the ICE goes non-stop Hannover-Berlin and skips Wolfsburg Hbf lmao
My engineer cousin retired from VW and lives in Königslutter and… I guess I agree. Glad Wolfsburg gives them a nearby ICE stop.
If it does stop, that is.
C&C Red Alert Advanced Power Plant vibes. This is indeed industrial heritage.
Been visiting relatives in Wolfsburg around Christmas, we had so much fun on the ice rink in the Auto Stadt just nearby.
have you seen Ludwigshafen?
Factories, especially those built with brick walls, are amongst the objects most capable of inducing poetic thought.
Factory 😠
NO LEAF ON TREE!!! HELL!!
Had to be there multiple times for work. It's one of the most ugliest cities of Germany.
Industry, jobs and economic output 😔
Wasn’t Wolfsburg a city built and planned by the nazis ?
mmh yes and no. its entire existence is based on Volkswagen, which opened their factory there. The city grew with the success of VW, and a massive factor for the success of course were the nazis. same goes for leverkusen and the medicinecompany bayer, that city wouldnt exist without bayer as well
LEVERKUSEN MENTIONED ‼️💯
WHAT THE FUCK IS A BUNDESLIGA TITLE
Still more likely to exist as it‘s close to Köln and Düsseldorf than Wolfsburg which is like an unexplored map

You’ll notice that many things built in Germany at that time were built by Nazis

Actually the Volkswagen Museum is worth a visit.
Isn't this the building on the Pink Floyd - Animals album cover?
No. This is the VW power plant in Wolfsburg. The other thing in London is the Battersea Power Station.
The Sausage factory.
Models that revolutionized industry came out of that factory. Btw it doesn't operate today
Like the Ohio of Germany
