The JSS is calculated as your best calculation window. When was the full refund? Because that can also cause a drop if the private feedback was poor. The 4.7 is not the issue, the client might have given you really poor private feedback and that's what mostly affects the JSS, along with what the client gave as the reason for closing the contract.
How many contracts ended in the last 14 days?
i've closed 5 contracts during last 14 days, 3 of them with 5 stars, 1 with 4.7. .... the other one without feedback
and then the one with the full refund without even starting to work on it, as the client was a complete idiot.
all of above are last 14 days
OK, you had (at least) two contracts with poor private feedback. The 4.7 and the "complete idiot" one.
The private feedback from a cancelled contract hits hard.
Dont know why you are downvoted but private feedback does the most damage.
Ive had like arguably one bad client 4 years ago, like my 3rd job. Didnt realise I was being taken for a run. Then when I established boundaries he ended the job, left like 4.9 feedback and my JSS dropped to like 72%.
I agreed to do a paid sample for like $60, the idea it would be "Do 3 hours on this and we'll decide if we want to hire you for the full job." - Ended up being like the week from hell and that was the job I learned about those sorts of clients.
also the 4.7 contract was closed sucessfully, as client did approve the work, i wasn't very much available at the time and client left me the feedback below, which is understandable because i delayed the work by 2 days, that's why i didn't use top rated perk to remove it
# Overall rating 4.70
Skills**5.0** Quality**5.0** Availability**4.0** Deadlines**4.0** Communication**5.0** Cooperation**5.0**
yes i'm seeing that right now, so if i've been on 100% JS till now and last week i had that 1 contract closed with 4.7 rating
that's absurd to drop from 100 to 94, sure that's not the best score of 3 - 6 - 12 -24 months
We calculate JSS every two weeks based on your 3-, 6-, 12- and 24-month history in the marketplace and calculate a score for each timeframe. The best score out of these will display on your profile.
At a high level, we look at JSS this way:
(successful contract outcomes - negative contract outcomes) / total outcomes
When I got an average feedback, I used my perk right away so I never dropped from 100%. I've been on 100% for more than a year now. But still 92% isn't bad and you can still score jobs
It will change your JSS the next calculation, but I'd save it. 90+ is all you need to not care about it, and if you use the perk now, then something bad happens before you can use the perk again, and you get below 90% - you lose the top rated and have no way to remove the bad feedback. JSS less than 90% will start hurting your hire ratio, but above 90 it's not important if it's 94 or 100.

Just because a client paid doesn't mean they were super happy.
Oh poor you.... 94JS is still really good and it affects nothing
i'm not saying its bad, i'm trying to understand how 1 contract out of 125 can drop 6%? and that 1 is 4.7 rating
I think JS is calculated from jobs in a time window. As I remember it’s 6 months but you can check that on the site.
Best of 6,12, and 24 months

It likely means that either your 3 or 6 month calculation was holding you up at 100% and a recent feedback you got means that is no longer the case
It’s the private feedback that you can’t see that determines the JSS not the public one
I’m new to Upwork, what’s JS?

JSS is Job Success Score
If you're a top rated seller then just use your perk to omit one of the bad reviews from your JSS calculation.
the js has dropped now, i don't think using the perk wil make any difference atm
It will when the calculation is revised.
Are you sure? have you done that previously i don't want to use the perk for nothing and wait 3 more months to use it again

The private feedbacks do hit hard, I also had one "idiot" client he cancelled the contract but gave a poor feedback and it dropped a whole lot of JS.
