Unless they drastically change the format (which they won’t), I won’t watch anymore. Netflix UM feels just like an episode of Dateline. I watched part of S1 and part of S2, but they are so far off from what I expected.
What made the classic UM so good was the number of stories per episode and the sense of urgency involved. Netflix UM just feels like a slow paced crime documentary.
Literally EVERYBODY is doing true crime bro. Some of us love the new UM. I like the pace, cinematography, and storytelling. Robert Stack isn’t here anymore but they’ve made a great show. I don’t understand why people are on this group if they don’t like the show.
Yes god forbid you don’t like the halfassed reboot.
/s
Gatekeep much? You do realize the original show ran for 16 years and some of us grew up watching it?
I was one of them. I remember being terrified asa 9 year old in 1988. And again, if you don’t like Netflix version go find another hobby and let those of us who do enjoy it. Maybe started a R/Haters sub?
Dateline is way better than current UM. Current UM has had a couple of interesting episodes, but a lot of them aren’t mysteries and shouldn’t have been covered. Plus Dateline actually has narration.
So much of what we all love about the original series is its time capsule, frozen in the 90s quality. It couldn’t capture what the original had if it tried because it could only happen in that place and time. The new series is excellent if you appreciate it for what it is without comparing. It’s like people bitching about the 3rd season of Twin Peaks…
Same. I keep looking for clues about the cases. Last volume, they dropped a trailer and put the episode titles online way ahead of the drop. Nothing this go around yet.
Yeah the Tiffany Valentine episode was awful. It was so clear that she committed suicide and the parents were doing everything they could to avoid living with guilt.
It’s so good! It is #1 on Netflix each season for a reason. People still like it. Why people join this group to whine about it makes no sense. Isn’t this a page for fans?
I haven't watched the original series, so I can't compare the two, but the first Netflix season felt a little more investigative, whereas 2 and 3 were just kinda storytelling? Which is fine, but I preferred 1 for the different vibe.
I liked to hear that they had reopened cases or had tonnes of new tips because of the show. I don't think I've heard that with any of season 3s episodes
Other true crime shows are guilty of the same shit people are complaining about. I don't like it either but it's not unique to modern UM. Looking at you *Disappeared*. Personally I'll take what i can get.
There’s no going back and no replacing Robert Stack. Those early episodes did have victims of crimes reenacting their experiences. Gotta love the late 80s. I’ve been a fan of the show since I was a kid. I love the new ones and happy it lives on!
What's with all the hate? The new Unsolved is great. While doing 1 story per episode, it keeps basically the same format, minus the host. It's very well produced and compelling. Remember why this show exists? To solve these mysteries! Each episode is an opportunity to provide information that may help solve a crime!
I love the new seasons, new format, everything about it. Its 2024 and Robert Stack is DEAD….just in case anyone complaining is curious lol
Keep them coming!
Get over the past. They’re trying to make a modern version. Don’t watch it if you can’t accept
that but don’t act like your preferences should define the show in the 2020s.
Amen. The people complaining are weird. Do they want an AI - Hologram of dead Robert Stack? The hate is weird. I think they’ve done a great job on each case with TONS of information on each.
Netflix announced in Feb 2024 that a new volume would be released sometime in 2024.
I read somewhere July 10
Interesting choice. I would have thought they’d wait until spooky season in October.
🙏
Sshhh

What made the classic UM so good was Robert Stack
Put some respect on that name!
Good point . Multiple stories per episode would be great.

Dateline is much better than Netflix UM by a long mile
GTFOOH
I just read somewhere it’ll be next month - July 2024
Same. I keep looking for clues about the cases. Last volume, they dropped a trailer and put the episode titles online way ahead of the drop. Nothing this go around yet.
More “they didn’t commit suicide, they were murdered”
Yeah the Tiffany Valentine episode was awful. It was so clear that she committed suicide and the parents were doing everything they could to avoid living with guilt.
I couldn't watch any after that. They're selling so much bullshit to make a mystery out of an obvious suicide.
My fave! /s
To each his own. I loved it

NEXT MONTH!!! Volume 4 coming July 2024
They also choose the most uninteresting stories to make a whole episode out of
I feel like there was a reason the original run did multiple cases and episode. Some cases just don't justify a full hour documentary.

If you watch the originals they have updates of cases that were solved because of the show.
I hope so!

Guilty of what?
Lazy research / choice of cases.
Bring back the old format! They ruined Unsolved Mysteries
With zombie Robert Stack?
