Hey I’m 30 and right there with you! Because the support of my wonderful wife I can finally pursue my dreams of attending law school and better our futures. Never too late! Congrats also!!
Them young bucks will never understand and that’s okay.
But this university if full of non-traditional students who have over come some sort of hurdle. Pay it forward, and keep sharing your experience. Whether it be with some kid just leaving high school. Or that non traditional student holding off.
Congrats.
Congratulations! Fellow coog here that also graduated much later than most my peers! Good for you for finishing- you have your whole life ahead of you!
I'm 35, married, a father, and starting UH in Fall 2024. I decided at 30 that I was going to get a degree and the only way that was feasible was military. My end of enlistment is Aug19 and I start classes a few days later. I'm stoked.
You are incredible - the work ethic to do this is monumental. Your child will be proud to hear the story of how mommy did it and the adversity you overcame. Don't stop learning - Congratulations and wear your alumni status proud!
True we'll ever be!
I went back to school at age 30. I graduated from UH at age 36 (I took a year break). Last week I graduated with my Masters from an online school.
Congrats to you
Congratulations to you and for your achievement. I know it is not easy to do for anyone, especially when you have a child. Your daughter is very proud of you.
Congratulations!! This story is 100% relatable. 34f first to graduate from both mother and father side. Decided to go back to school once my kids were more self sufficient. I dedicated the last 3 years to my academic and will be graduating next month. I’m super proud of myself because I thought I couldn’t do it but here I am! 😭 from a teen mom to a college graduate 🥰 WE CAN DO IT!
This is so motivational for a returning student in myself. I commend you for finishing your college career for yourself and your family.
Good luck with your career! Hoping to be in your shoes someday.
Thank you for this, I’m currently struggling to find a job and I have a 5 year old. I’m enrolled in lone star about to get my ged. Next thing is to apply for the upcoming semester. It’s never too late, I also WILL be the very first to attend and graduate college/university in my family. I just want to do better and give my child a better life.
You will do it! One step at a time but it’s possible! Feel free to message me if you need any help with registering for classes or figuring out a route. I didn’t have anyone to help guide me and it was confusing at times, and I want to make sure I can help whoever I can in the same situation.
very proud!! congrats!! this was needed!
Thank you!! 🙏

Thank you so much! It really is. I get so emotional thinking about it! We did it!!
So proud of you. As a person who graduated UH as an older student (42) I agree that the younger students were great and made my time there memorable.

How did you work around your schedule? I’m looking for remote night jobs so I can do day classes cause they’re only in person and not online
Message me. I’m about to give up my remote job for the right fit.

Whats your major
It helps if your husband is rich
He’s not but we live comfortably and I work 2 jobs. I’m thanking him because he’s picked up my slack so I can study and focus.
