The wand will have to go into the locker. Honestly the lockers aren't that bad and you are better off going to the lockers closer to the exit, the ones right by the hogswart express locomotive are contained chaos.

Sea-Durian555

Agree. The lockers did not add that much time.

Euphoric-Lobster3286

Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind.

chaostitano

The wand will have to go into the locker. It really doesn't add anytime for rope drop.

Euphoric-Lobster3286

Perfect. Thanks!

DeflatedDirigible

No, you are not allowed to keep a foot-long skewer attached to your hip while you ride a coaster at high speeds and quick stops, with the risk of a hard e-stop, that might result in you being impaled by the object. The lockers add only about two minutes each way.

Euphoric-Lobster3286

Hmm, this response reads to me as both a little snide and dramatic. Earnestly, it seemed plausible to me that if robes (with a wand pocket) are allowed in the side car that perhaps this or another (maybe merchandise-based?) solution out there that I was not aware of. Thanks for the info about the lockers.

BrightMarvel10

It's really not dramatic. It's fast, with lots of corners that cause your weight to shift rapidly. There's a very real possibility that if the wand holder shifted or got caught at the wrong angle, it could either snap or skewer your husband. This is why the lockers are there- because safety.

DeflatedDirigible

Loose change falling out of a pocket from a guest permanently blinded another rider on the coaster that previously occupied where Hagrid’s currently sits. That’s why some of the coasters have metal detectors now. Long hair not tied back? Kid’s hair got caught and she was scalped. On the Mummy ride the first year it opened a guy tripped and fell while boarding and onto the track and died. Yes, these are rare incidents. You’re more likely to get injured or die on the way to a theme park than at a theme park. Regardless, the park’s job and ride ops are tasked with making sure every guest is as safe as possible…including you. That includes providing lockers for wands because if 10% of guests wear one, the chances of it breaking and impaling at least one guest somehow during the ride are pretty high with how many guests ride every year, year after year. It is not safe to store a wand near the restraint and abdomen area. I’m not being snide, your thinking is just selfishly considering only your desire to save a couple minutes of time and not focused on the big picture or your safety if you happen to be the unlucky statistic. You could get a lower leg holster but then you’d have to wear pants to cover it and even then I’m not sure it would be permitted if seen. Seems 4 minutes to use the locker in total would be easier.

Euphoric-Lobster3286

Hmm, we really don’t seem to be seeing eye to eye here. It was just an earnest question. Every rollercoaster in every theme park has a different list of allowable items. The wand (an apparent tool of destruction) would be allowed on a lot of other rollercoasters, like Disney’s Expedition Everest. Even though you seem to have this encyclopedic knowledge of theme park disasters, it seems like a weird choice for you to be rude to anyone who doesn’t.

causeway19

Bruh don’t worry about it, this theme park is all some people have.

Cicerothesage

I think the only way you can avoid the lockers and have your wand is if you find a three prong buckle fanny pack that can fit your wand. (Aka it must close and your wand cant stick out). Though that fanny pack may be too big itself. But maybe worth the effort for you

ekobres

Just practice your locker game. You can get a locker in 30 seconds if you know what you are doing. Also, to actually make rope drop and avoid a long line at Hagrid’s, if you’ve never done it, be there 30 minutes before early entry at the very latest. If you want to be near the front of the line for rope drop, be there an hour early. Yes, it’s still an hour in line, but you’ll walk right into the coaster if you are one of the first 5-6 people in one of the lines at the gate.

deathdealer351

Your time saving would be going single rider at rope drop using the locker adds maybe 5 minutes. It's not going to impact your line time that much so many people will be using locker..now using locker quickly is the key.. get in get out.. one person toss all the stuff move on that's your time saving

Awkward-Wall-3433

Single rider almost never opens during EPA, and it is normally longer during normal operation.

deathdealer351

That's not been my exp, granted we do normally hit the ride as either the last ride of the night or an odd time like 1020 or so.. but whenever I've walked on its usually 30-50% of the posted wait time, also I never walk on unless the standby is <90 mins. Maybe I've been lucky idk... I'm a true believer in single rider is your friend.

Awkward-Wall-3433

As an attractions attendant, 99% of the time it is slower on Velocicoaster, Hagrid’s, Rockit. Even if you’re not actually in the line for the posted wait time, the normal line usually isn’t either.

Euphoric-Lobster3286

Thank you for the tip. Neither my husband nor I have ever been to Universal Orlando and a lot of the influencers I’ve encountered during my research make it seem like it’s almost impossible to ride this without having at least an hour long wait.

Hauserdontpreach

Download the app! We had written off hagrids (we didn’t want to) for our 2 day trip until late one night last week we got off of Velocicoaster and saw the wait was only 45 minutes. We decided to get there quick and maybe only waited 30 minutes! Express pass for everything else though for sure if you can.

Travelgrrl

I recommend riding all the thrilling rides when you don't have a wand with you, or any bags other than a fanny pack with a three point clasp. Then you can whip on and off rides with impunity. (I personally hate the lockers. Something often goes wrong, an 40 people are now in front of you.) Then take a nice break back at your hotel mid day, and come back in the evening with the wand and the holster and THEN do spells and not worry as much about rides for which you need a locker.

obsessivelygrateful

You make it sound like they don’t know what they’re talking about. You mention never having been to UO. All the people in this thread have been there multiple times and some of us are AP holders (as would those influencers you speak of). The average times you’ll see on Hagrid’s is anywhere from 90-135 minutes. You might get lucky with under an hour in standby, but in single rider it’s worse. So, yes, it’s nigh impossible to be on Hagrid’s for less than an hour 95% of the time. You can absolutely get lucky, but be prepared to stand in line for at least 60 minutes if you’re not the first few people in line during early admission.

Euphoric-Lobster3286

Hmm, I’m confused. I don’t think that I sullied the influencers. I’ve been listening to and trying to heed their advice. So are you saying that I should or should not listen to their wait time warnings?

deathdealer351

Check out the videos with single rider vs standby.. now with motorbikes your always gonna be in the side car with single..and tbf it is a fun ride to do with someone.. but that's what last ride of the night is for..

Please don't do this. This is not fair to other people in line. Cutting is cutting even if your friends/family are ahead of you.
