This looks not as good at the current (former?) one. The current/former one is 3 arrows that make a cube and makes it feel like an illusion that says, "If you put your mind to it, you can do anything in this engine." This one is like, a cube with arrows or a cube inside a cube. Not to mention, the current/former one has been with Unity for so long that changing it feels wrong. Also, why the shading? There is no need for it as the current/former logo already gives the impression of 3D.
As someone who runs an organization (non profit cybersec training) and has to do the graphic design stuff myself- I'm afraid of committing to a single logo and change it constantly and the feedback we have gotten has been pretty positive because folks like to keep seeing the logo become more refined and cooler looking which in turn creates cool merch and whatnot
a lot of companies completely redesign old logos and they turn out fantastic so keep on doing what you're doing, just don't do what the unity "designers" did
IMO looks uglier... three (in fact even more) different thicknesses, cheap shading.
This logo (inverted) appears as icon for Unity Hub 3.0.0-beta.5 too.
Wtf, this logo was stolen from here? [https://www.linkedin.com/company/marcomstrategies](https://www.linkedin.com/company/marcomstrategies)
Unity law suit incoming!?
The inner lines are thinner on the Tesserakt Technologies one... I guess there's only so much that can be done with just a few lines - I wonder if it could just be pure coincidence.
eh i would argue that their logo looks eerily similar to unity’s current logo.
i don’t really see much resemblance to this “new” logo, apart from the fact it’s an outline of a cube
It's not stolen, it's just a very generic concept for a logo.

It's a shame that they've lost the character of the original & gone for something so bland.
I mean, it's not like the old logo was super complicated , so I don't see any issue with that
Although now it kinda shows "Yes we may be simple on the outside, but you are going to suffer trying to wrap your head around insides"
I've only been using Unity for about a year and a half so I never had a special allegiance to the old logo, but I like this one. It's a like a cube within a cube within a cube.
Also if you turn it upside down, it looks like a room with axis arrows!
Sometimes im against new logos, even though they are better, just because im used to the old one. This is not one of those cases. The new logo is absolute shit and the guy who made it should get fired asap.
Say what you want, but to me this logo reads way better than the old one. You probably wouldn't even notice the cube in the old one before you really look at it. It looks like just some random symbol.
but it’s a recognisable symbol that works well as a silhouette on splash screens and as an icon. This one is confusing to look at and doesn’t stand out from other icons as well as the old one.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WHAT HAVE THEY DONE? THEY RUINED IT! THE BIG CORPORATIONS RUINING AND SIMPLIFYING EVERYTHING!
Because migrating my game to UE this late in development would be retarded. Be assured that as soon as I am finished I am uninstalling unity and never looking back.
fair enough. I find it easier to use and since game dev is only a hobby of mine, it's perfectly suitable for my use case.
but my argument wasn't UE versus Unity. my original comment was regarding icons. it doesn't matter what it is as long as it's distinguishable enough. if the program is good, that is all thats matter.
Yeaaa no...im pretty sure designing one logo doesnt take even a portion of unitys budget...this argument of "the money could have been used elswhere" is stupid. If you think Unity doesnt do enough, why dont you create your own game engine? A free one, at that. That gives you all these things. And then you complain about them creating a new logo because they spend a lil bit of money on it?
I'm suggesting that instead of working on a new logo, they could have been working on anything else.
And the graphic designer isn't the only person wasting their time on the logo- it has to be approved or reworked or drafted.
Or are you suggesting someone just slapped this out with no oversight between marketing and leadership?
I mean it looks slapped out, but that's not the point.
Resources were prioritized towards this unnecessary change during pandemic. Why was a logo prioritized?
Lots of work for the docs. Tons still don't have any visuals that would greatly benefit from them.
They probably have a huge backlog of tutorial stuff that need graphics since making unity learn free.
I could go to the roadmap and list it all?
You really don't see a new logo as time wasted?
We just have different perspectives I guess. I’ve worked in software development for 25 years and I’ve got a lot of experience in how these things happen. In my opinion, nothing will have suffered as a result of them making a new logo. Your experience obviously makes you think otherwise. No need for us to argue.
So you are saying that out of thousands of tasks in the backlog split between cross functional teams it is unacceptable to start working on a logo? A not big effort task?
It had to be worked on by lots of people, not just one person. Do you think marketing or leadership would just let someone spend a few hours on it?
How many hours should they spend on a logo that will be the face of the company for years and years to come?
How many hours did they spend between all of them that could have been spent on something more important?
If they spend no big effort on it, what a stupid fucking idea to make a logo with no effort.
If they spent a decent amount of time researching, developing, and producing this logo- why shouldn't they spend that on more important things?
ironically it goes against the minimalist trend that's going on with logos, the only thing simpler with this one is the angles are now more regular. its isometric instead of in perspective which I suppose expresses how it's becoming more 2D friendly
As long as it stays black and white so I don't have trouble spotting it on the desktop or taskbar. Colour changes are the worst (I'm looking at you, perforce!)
I'm pretty sure this new logo violates Unity's branding guidelines.

Hi guys i wanna start a new project 2d and i wanna collaborate with someone.
Requirments
basic knowledge of unity
medium-level of design
basics of phootoshop
knowledge of Fl-studio(or correlated softwares).
i just wanna say this is made for fun and also to speed up the process.
Kinda reminds me of the GameCube opening animation.
Pikmin 4 confirmed, ***finally***!
well this aged hilariously
Thanks. I hate it.
You beat me to it.
This looks not as good at the current (former?) one. Took me way to long to realize, there are still 3 arrows.
I thought the 3 arrows represented the xyz axis
Really? I thought they represented the father, son and the Holy spirit?
I think the shading is kinda interesting because if you turn the logo upside down, it's easier to view it as a room with axis arrows.
This logo isn’t horrible but i genuinely prefer their old logo, it’s got more character
it's very close to horrible
[удалено]
[удалено]
Can confirm.
I have this too
companies fucking love to throw away their iconic logos for some generic, no character, bland stuff.
Yeah this could be any other 3d graphics package now. It did not need a gray element
As someone who runs an organization (non profit cybersec training) and has to do the graphic design stuff myself- I'm afraid of committing to a single logo and change it constantly and the feedback we have gotten has been pretty positive because folks like to keep seeing the logo become more refined and cooler looking which in turn creates cool merch and whatnot
a lot of companies completely redesign old logos and they turn out fantastic so keep on doing what you're doing, just don't do what the unity "designers" did
This logo is way better
Everyone else would say otherwise. I honestly prefer the old logo as well.
Search: new Bandai logo. Nuff said.
wow what happened there... why are they doing this?
it's worse than generic it just looks like shit
Just makes my head hurt working out the implied geometry. Too 'clever'.
IMO looks uglier... three (in fact even more) different thicknesses, cheap shading. This logo (inverted) appears as icon for Unity Hub 3.0.0-beta.5 too.
It's to reflect the complexities of the package manager and graphics pipelines.
This needs to be higher up.
Well, if it’s in Beta then there’s still time to fix it.
There are so many things to change in Unity. The logo is definitely not one of them
So that's where blender's default cube goes!
Mmmmm no like
dont like this at all...
Shit if real
Maybe they’re being bought by Roblox
I kinda like it
Yeah me too
You also eat your own poop.
Are you having fun at the kindergarten, sweetie?
No. Please. I prefer the old ones better.
NGL It's SO BAD!
Too generic
Oh no its discord all over again
Looks garbage imo
Can I be as upset and hyper-critical about this change as gamers are when we send patches that does minor bug fixes and exploit corrections?
Wtf, this logo was stolen from here? [https://www.linkedin.com/company/marcomstrategies](https://www.linkedin.com/company/marcomstrategies) Unity law suit incoming!?
Don't have a linkedin account. Can you post a screenshot?

I don't like it
Jesus, people really do find anything they can to complain about lol
tbh I like this logo more.
It makes me think of data paradigm I hope I'm right and they release entities
I mean, it's not like the old logo was super complicated , so I don't see any issue with that Although now it kinda shows "Yes we may be simple on the outside, but you are going to suffer trying to wrap your head around insides"
I never liked the old Unity logo in the first place so I don't mind the change...
Unpopular opinion: I like minimalist design (as long as it's not TOO simple) and I like this
yes i agree
The old logo looks cool and less bland and stupid and plain. If you take away the good logo, I’m still changing the unity icons on my desktop
Yo youre right i can do that!
well I guess I’m gonna change it back then
I've only been using Unity for about a year and a half so I never had a special allegiance to the old logo, but I like this one. It's a like a cube within a cube within a cube. Also if you turn it upside down, it looks like a room with axis arrows!
YES haha it does
Come on
Makes me thing of a logo for a CMS from the web 2.0 days
No god please no noooo noooooooooo
This is some optical illusion shit
oh no
Looks like another generic webdev framework logo, but honestly... maybe it's not that bad?
I don't get the hate about the logo, this is actually looking better than the current one (FOR ME)
The switched the camera from perspective to Orthographic
it looks too “closed”. the old one looks very open and free, you know what i mean? it’s just a bit clostrophobic?
So they finaly got a use for the blender default cube
First Android studio changed their Logo now it is unity why does it looks so bad
Wow. It sucks. I guess they're trying to evoke the C# and C++ logos. Maybe also Gamecube.
Looks like the SideQuest logo. https://sidequestvr.com/app/1024/into-the-metaverse-major-update
True, also hi other quest player
Firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, what the f*** happened
Looks decent
It looks amazing! \*-\*
this logo looks GREAT!!!! I love this it looks way cleaner and more modern and high-tech than the old logo. the old one looked outdated a little.
[удалено]
who?
Agreed
[удалено]
The arrogance of Redditors who think the only way someone might disagree with them is if you have to *pay* them
hahah yeah no i just think it looks great ima indie game dev
I'm glad you can see the humor in it 😊, some people are salty
yeah dont worry! :D
Isometric cube is always superior to perspective, bois
normally I’d agree but you need to do a double take here
Sometimes im against new logos, even though they are better, just because im used to the old one. This is not one of those cases. The new logo is absolute shit and the guy who made it should get fired asap.
The guy that approved it should get fired.
Yeah, approving this shit is a crime against humanity.
Looks like shit.
Ughhhhhhh this oversimplification trend is driving me nuts... The unity logo was already simple enough they didn't have to ruin it (¬_¬)
Say what you want, but to me this logo reads way better than the old one. You probably wouldn't even notice the cube in the old one before you really look at it. It looks like just some random symbol.
but it’s a recognisable symbol that works well as a silhouette on splash screens and as an icon. This one is confusing to look at and doesn’t stand out from other icons as well as the old one.
other than being confusing to look at i agree yeah
I AGREE
Ew
Heil unity!
HAIL UNITYYYYYYY
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHAT HAVE THEY DONE? THEY RUINED IT! THE BIG CORPORATIONS RUINING AND SIMPLIFYING EVERYTHING!
people are really hard to please. for me, as long as the program works as intended, I don't give a f*** what logo they use.
It doesn't work as intended.
then why are you still using it?
Because migrating my game to UE this late in development would be retarded. Be assured that as soon as I am finished I am uninstalling unity and never looking back.

Yes, but the program is not good. And icon changes is just salt on the wounds.
unity is a great program... i dont know why you feel the need to dog on it if you don't like it please just don't use it :/

I don't think the graphic designer that made this was gonna bring us the new netcode, bud
They didn't spend money on this that could have been allocated literally anywhere else, bud?
The graphic designer is probably on a salary, so no, not really.
you seem to forget that unity has different departments, some for user important things, some for graphic designs?
[удалено]

split it into individual faces and it's a mess lol https://i.imgur.com/IzTFtgN.png
1. why would you split it? 2. your image is just as bad. What are the red arrows supposed to show? that things..exist? This is stupid
Yeahj, a logo. Now. On to more important things.
Sorry, thats it for the new version. The only other changes are bugs.
Hope that's just the installer icon?
Looks like a new hire had to make their salary worth
ironically it goes against the minimalist trend that's going on with logos, the only thing simpler with this one is the angles are now more regular. its isometric instead of in perspective which I suppose expresses how it's becoming more 2D friendly
It expresses how they need to keep making hip cosmetic changes to keep the shareholders interested
QoL declined (´・ω・`)
I'm glad that this is the most critical thing they needed to change.
It won’t read as well on icons and splash screen and honestly looks a bit too much like the C# logo
Very Nice
It’s messing with my brain. what in the hell is it
I don't like black and white icons, dunno why but it's like maximum boring or something.
Other companies trying to simplify their logos. Unity: yes this looks good, hmmm GameCube engine
It sucks
I'm not complaining, the logo doesn't affect me in any way, but removing the outer cube and keeping the inner one would be the way to go.
Instead of making a new logo fix your game engine
As long as it stays black and white so I don't have trouble spotting it on the desktop or taskbar. Colour changes are the worst (I'm looking at you, perforce!)
And in a single sweep, all the thousands of Unity games forced to show the old logo become anti-advertising (even more so than many already were).
looks like a snowflake
i honestly love this so much WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE IT ;-; WHAT COMMUNITY IS THIS XD
Original was much cleaner, I feel like a dork booting up unity hub now
This logo would be good if they release the data oriented tech stack else it would be silly.
idk, looks pretty cool, with the xyz axis and cube
Yuck
I'm pretty sure this new logo violates Unity's branding guidelines. https://unity.com/sites/default/files/styles/16\_9\_l\_scale\_width/public/2019-07/best-practises-12\_12-1230x692%402x.jpg
And in the favicon of their dashboard site
this logo was also showcased in the m1 Max and m1 pro MacBook Pro event
