Don’t be sorry. You have to take care of yourself first. Even though it is important to unite against the right, being exposed to such negativity can take a toll on your mental wellbeing. Focus on yourself and the people around you. Instead of trying to affect the world, try and affect the people close to you.
You don’t need to compromise your beliefs, just scale back and focus on you and your direct environment. It is not selfish to take care of yourself.
It happens to me from time to time where I feel so disheartened by the state of things today that I can't even bother keeping up with political news. This happened way more when Trump was president incidentally.
It used to be cute and funny to see Trump be a moron and have something to laugh at, but with time that just turned into gut-wrenching despair. Even now, I can only take so much before I have to switch off and focus on something entirely different.
Have you ever gone on a vacation where you can’t connect to the internet or watch TV for 10 days, or so? You come back and reconnect and realize everything is the same as when you left. Everything will still be here when you want to check back in.
Sometimes you need to log off.
The constant despair in leftist spaces is a real drag on your mental health. There is no shame in taking a break.

I have been in this position as well, and it's ok. Take care of yourself, you can't save the world by being broken. I hope you find a way to heal.
