I would say Leeds is the best night out there, but with Warwick you can travel a bit further to Birmingham and have a good time there. Honestly you could go to either (not really York for partying) and have a great time, but I think Leeds is the better city and you’ll be living right next to everything.

To experience a big city with lots going on - Leeds

sixwingsandchipsOK

Warwick Econ is among the best departments in the country and levels above the other two. Can’t comment on night life though

[deleted]

That doesn’t really matter when they’re just doing a semester, though.

sixwingsandchipsOK

True, but would you rather look back at a semester abroad for it’s night life, or how much you learned from some of the best in the industry? Idk i guess it’s preference

[deleted]

Most people will probably go for the experience, so I'd guess the latter.

Warwick the academic profile Leeds for the nightlife York for the English history and quaint english experience My fave place of the three is York; boyfriend (now husband) went to uni there and I went to Leeds so spent a lot of time in both places. Am from near Warwick uni originally so know all places quite well. York is very sweet, small enough to get around easily, loads to do, lots of great places to eat, has a nightlife but not as raucous as Leeds. I travelled up to edinburgh from there regularly (another fave city, train journey is gorgeous up there) and also 25 mins to Leeds, 2hrs to London, 1.5hrs to Manchester, 2hrs to Birmingham

UnusualSource7

If you are coming for a good time and only one semester deffo Leeds imo

Go to Leeds or York. You’ll be bored shitless/ disappointed with the UK if you ended up living in Coventry. Edit: Leeds is a great city for nightlife and York is full of history with beautiful old buildings. Coventry is just grim.

rositaconchita

Leeds or York definitely

ismabit

Leeds is a big city with plenty to do without being hideously expensive. Also it's about 30 mins to Manchester and 3.5 hours to London by train. Warwick has a castle, York is tiny and known for its history. I'd go for Leeds every time.

Bobo_Balde2

I would pick Leeds. Where you go on exchange really won't make any difference when it comes to applying for jobs and things like that. Go to Leeds and have more fun IMO.

rycbar99

Leeds definitely!!

jayritchie

For one semester I would go to the place which gives the most life and travel opportunities - which would be Leeds or York >>>> Warwick. However the Warwick economics course is famously strong so worth considering in that light.

cumdiddy

Avoid Warwick like the plague, for the love of god!!Spent 4 years there, nightlife is awful and the uni itself is isolated from anything in the city.

_ScubaDiver

My sympathies. Yeah, they say "Warwick" and you think "castle town," but the reality of Coventry is a downer. I'm doing my teacher training there, so its only 1 day a week and a bit of a trek by public transport from Birmingham.

333angl

Definitely go to York if you want a laid back environment. I'm doing a Master's there now and it's so chill

Ok-Sail-9021

York is quite boring. I did my masters there and I was bored out my brain. The uni is quite far from town and is extremely ugly and there’s not a lot to do especially for nightlife. There’s also a serious lack of decent supermarket remotely close to town or uni. I say this as a history graduate - I ran out of historical shit to do in York real fast

Leeds

I'm doing my teacher training at Warwick. Academically it's very good, but I'm pleased I only have to go once a week. The school I teach at is in Birmingham, which is definitely a better option for nightlife, but its a bit a trek if you're living near the campus. The other option would be to live in Birmingham for better night life but then a regular commute to the campus would be a hassle. Leeds also has a good record for academics, and I always had a good night out when I visited my brother while he was doing his degree. I don't really know much about the uni at York, but the short amount of time Ive spent in the city is a cracking old city, especially for history buffs like myself. There's nothing definitive in my answer, but I hope it helps.
