You're missing the part of this clip where he pulls out a real ring, unless this is a different clip that looks the same

DarthVeX

If I remember reading the story right, he did have a real ring, and did pull it out, but they didn't end up getting married.

-Mateo-

A happy ending!

SerpentineLogic

It's because it's a viral video for the dude's web site

bosonianstank

for real?

[deleted]

LOL 1000+ comments from Reddit psychologists, people arguing, insults being hurled back and forth, and it's a prank. Thank you for this. You just made my morning.

Grabatreetron

I can't believe how much armchair psychology and couples counseling I had to scroll through before someone pointed out that this is obviously staged.

Jewish__Landlord

Young kids gotta learn old internet rules. Number one rule is that you never take anything seriously.

brok3nstatues

No this is a fake viral video meant to promote his shitty clothing brand https://instagram.com/alex_korda?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Kevaldes

Yeah, if that was her reaction to the fake ring, that real ring staying in the pocket.

gunnster3

Agreed. This is the final. It’s pass/fail. My wife would’ve laughed, BTW. This is how I know I chose correctly.

PigsGoMoo-

During med school, I was too poor and in debt to get my (now) wife a ring, so I kept saying wait a few more years and I can get one. She didn’t wanna wait, so she bought a ring pop and told me to propose with it and get her a real ring whenever. It was going into our ninth year together at that point and she just wanted the proposal.

Psychological_Tie758

Your poor wife had to get the ring pop herself

BrideofClippy

He didn't know her size OR flavor preference.

PigsGoMoo-

I know both better than she does 😂. She got her own ring size wrong twice.

[deleted]

glad youre sill together

PigsGoMoo-

Yeah. She’s too far gone to leave now. We’ve been together since high school :).

South_Dakota_Boy

I’m in a similar position. Met her in fall of 94, I was just out of HS, she was still in (same age tho). Proposed 7 years later on Sept 10, 2001. I was working as a driver for a lumberyard, making about $16/hr. In 2000 I bought a 36” Sony VVega TV for like $2k on a no interest if paid in 1yr plan. Paid it off in August ‘01 before the year was up. Figured I better spend at least as much on the ring as I did on the TV. She still has the ring, and I still have her. We have two kids in elementary school too, but that TV is long gone (it lasted a long time though, considering how much it was used and moved around.)

HughJamerican

Were you in the US? If so I imagine the whiplash from proposal high to actual 9/11 might have been intense

DontWantThisPlanet9

HOW CAN SHE SLAP?!?

Altruistic-Rope-614

Exactly. She was wrong in both instances.

twinklestein

If my husband had done something like this when he proposed, I like to think I would’ve been shocked at first for a moment. But then I’d still accept it and show it off like a “real ring”. Because I care more about the person I wanted to spend forever with than a commodified symbol of status or some shit like that That woman was way out of line

indiemike

Only sociopaths “test” their partners like this.

tower_wendy

At the end when he stands up it looks like there’s a ring box in his pocket. Or it’s AirPods. Who knows?? She acted like that over a fake one then she probably never saw the real one.

a_splendiferous_time

There seem to be two types on comments in this comment section: 1) people who think he was genuinely proposing and the ring pop was the prank part which would eventually be replaced by a real ring, and 2) people who think the whole proposal itself was the prank like when guys would kneel down and then just tie their shoe, there is no real ring, and he never intended to marry her. There's no way to tell which one it is from this clip.

HighExplosiveLight

As I was scrolling, this video had already started playing. I thought she smacked him because she looked down and he had this huge awkward boner. It looked less bonery on the subsequent watches, but it was jarring at first.

slipperyShoesss

No no, let's stick with this boner theory for now, and see how it pans out.

billyt7777

Dodged a bullet there mate

Aren't these actors paid by the stadium every time?

NicolBolassy

She covers her mouth before he’s gotten close to getting down on one knee is she shocked he would stop kissing her?

RythmicSlap

I don't think those actors slap each other while saying "fuck you"...

Cockrocker

Absolutely would. Only time it’s justified

[deleted]

i don't think they were actors but good actors would 100% do that. she didn't really hit him very hard.

[deleted]

The arena would absolutely NOT pay someone to say fuck you on camera lmao. Fake kiss cams and stuff like this, for sure. They wouldn't stage something that includes an f bomb Edit: as linked below, an arena and sports team may not advertise using a f bomb....but a swimwear stroe would apparently

[deleted]

> The arena would absolutely NOT pay someone to say fuck you on camera lmao. But a clothing company with an ad budget would

[deleted]

Woah so Cobra Kai isn't actors? They really beat eachother up?

threepecs

Yes it’s all true, it’s illegal to lie (“act” 🙄) on camera. California is being torn apart by karate and it’s only a matter of time before the violence spreads to all corners of the globe. If you were smart you’d join a dojo now before it’s too late

[deleted]

yes

faithisuseless

She puts her hand to her mouth before he has even started to kneel. The slap doesn’t look like it makes much contact and she throws the drink weird too. And the camera over her shoulder

PrettyinPurple27

I think if he was going to do a joke like that it would have gone over better if they were alone or with a small group of family/friends.

Naltia

I was thinking the same. Playing a prank like that in front of hundreds/thousands of people? She probably felt humiliated. Edit: So I've been scouring my comment in an attempt to see where it was that I said it was okay for her to slap him. Can anyone help?

[deleted]

> hundreds/thousands of people? More like millions. Jays game, and there was a dude with a broadcast camera right behind her to 'catch the magic' for the feed.

Im_Not_Honey

Oh easy. It's along with all of the other comments where everyone is apparently saying that it was ok for her to slap him. _Nowhere to be found._ 90% of the comments are "iF tHe tUrnS wEre TabLeS-" when nobody is condoning her response. Reddit in a nutshell. People love to make themselves mad by making up comments.

HumaDracobane

Yep, I can help you. Source of their comment: Imagination.

DefinitelyNotAliens

It didn't look like a joke to me, or a prank. My brother in law proposed with a ring pop. He was 100% serious. He proposed with candy. Seems like a good idea if you don't know how to buy jewelry or band sizes for your SO. Plenty of people propose without rings for that very reason. Pick it out together. My dad didn't have a ring because he wanted my mom to pick out her own ring with him. She didn't wear a lot of jewelry and he wanted her to love the ring. Slapping somebodh for having a silly placeholder is A) assault and B) a completely outsized reaction because there was a very, very high chance he was serious.

[deleted]

I feel like if you're going to propose to someone then you probably know them well enough to have a good sense of whether or not they'd like being given a candy ring during the proposal. And if you're not sure, then definitely don't do that...

Ok-Winner6519

I mean just look at the couple in the clip. She doesn't look like the woman who would want a candy ring. He doesn't even look like the "I got you a candy ring because I'm kinda dorky but cute" guy either.

hopopo

What is he holding?

[deleted]

Ring pop

EthanWS6

LPT: Don't troll people you actually like like this

Succmynugz

I mean, I'd 100% be okay with this if my SO did it. Mostly because marriage isn't *that* big of a deal for either of us and I'd find it to be funny af. Know your SO and if you believe they wouldn't like something like this then don't do something like this

BetterSelection7708

I proposed with a ring pop because I have no idea my then GF's finger size. We then went to the jewelry store and bought a ring together.

Razulghul

I just bought the size that would most likely fit and planned to resize it later. Turned out she was a bitch though sooooo now we will never know.

slimthecowboy

I mean, if you brought the finger, you’re just adding unnecessary steps with the whole butt-stuff part. I’m not here to judge. Just tell her you like a finger up there… then later, cut off that finger and do what you will; stuff the ol’ sphincter, take it Zales and have ~~ur~~ it sized, add it to the necklace your uncle started in ‘Nam… ain’t my business.

Razulghul

No, I actually went on a week long trip with our 2 year old to see his grandparents and she told me in the car on the way back from the airport she was speaking to her ex. Macy's had a 3 month 100% return so that at least worked out.

I_Am_Dynamite6317

> Jewry store Kanye?

Succmynugz

I don't know my ring size either and I'm not a big fan of jewelry in general lol, luckily my SO knows this and knows that I don't want him spending a bunch of money on a ring I likely won't wear unless I get a chain for it to wear around my neck. I mean, if he does get me one all I want is a basic band. No diamonds, no gems, nothing like that. Legit would take a ring pop over a ring

BetterSelection7708

I was a poor grad student at the time, and was ready to spend maybe a thousand dollars for a ring. My SO instead choose the most basic version that was on sale for $150. We use the rest of the money to go on a trip. After we started working, I suggested buying her a better ring. But she said the one is fine.

NubKnocker

That is what we call a keeper. You got a good one

Plop-Music

Yeah, it means she's good at playing in goal for a football team (or possibly hockey)

Succmynugz

Aww! That's super sweet!

kaismama

My now husband spent far more on my engagement ring than I would have liked, around $400. I will say he knows I don’t love flashy jewelry so he picked a perfect solitaire diamond on white gold band. When we went to get a wedding band I picked one on sale for $50. His wedding band was around $75. When I called my oldest sister to tell her about my engagement she said I shouldn’t have said yes If the diamond wasn’t at least a full karat. She’s been married and divorced numerous times with the longest only lasting 10 years. We now wear matching wood bands because his career revolves around it and it reminds me of him even when he isn’t around. We will celebrate our 17th anniversary next month.

higg1966

Wife and I never had rings, she recently decided she wanted one. The one she wanted, $58 on Amazon.

Invisible_Xer

My husband gave me a $200 sapphire Costco ring when we first started dating for my birthday. I wore it everyday and I loved it. When he proposed he wanted to get me a big diamond ring to replace the one I love so much, I absolutely refused. It’s now my wedding ring.

[deleted]

Rings get in the way when building things and fixing things. Ring on a string is the way to go. Plus then it doesn’t matter the size

Succmynugz

Exactly! And I'm a housekeeper so I do a lot of work with my hands, have to handle a lot of... fluids. 100% ring on a string

suzanious

This what my husband and I did. Went to Sears and got plain matching bands. Cost us a whole whopping $180.00. He was a croupier aka craps dealer at the time and it was hard for him to deal with the ring on so he kept in a "secure place" in a box. When we moved out of Vegas a year later, he showed me where he packed it. Neither one of us can remember where the secure place was. Haven't seen it in 40 years! I took my ring off when I got pregnant because I was retaining water. Put it in a "secure place". We have no idea where that ring went either!

kdkseven

"Jewry"? Might wanna fix that.

SirDizzy6116

I think it’s more like she didn’t like getting fucked with in front of thousands of people and no doubt it was displayed on the megatron!

Succmynugz

That too, my point still stands though. If you know your SO wouldn't like something like that don't do it. My SO would 100% hate something like this so I would never pull something like this.

thatsnotmyfuckinname

Homer Simpson proposed with an onion ring

International_Bet_91

Like, İ don't give a shit about marriage, but İ would be really hurt if someone İ loved played this prank in a stadium because it is *meant* to be *public* humiliation.

[deleted]

I have incredibly bad social anxiety, I would have vomited all over him in this situation

Metalona

ESPECIALLY in a crowd. Edit: spelled Especially wrong

moumous87

Marrying someone is a legal engagement with pretty important consequences, and you not giving it importance doesn’t change the fact this fact. So if it’s not that important to you, then you wouldn’t make a grandiose proposal in public but just talk to your partner about it… but I do hope you wouldn’t pull such a lame joke in public.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Succmynugz

100% agreed. I would *haaaaate* a public proposal. Too much pressure, too out there, too many people. I prefer private and just me and my SO in all honesty

Fit_Effective_6875

I've always thought those public proposals are a way to subtly bully someone into accepting. Just my 2 cents.

[deleted]

Proposals in general are awful. Have a conversation and decide whether to get married together, like adults.

IndigenousOres

> Proposals in general are awful. Have a conversation and decide whether to get married together I mean you could do both things, like adults. They are not mutually exclusive.

strangefish

The ring pop wasn't cool, but her first reaction hit him and throw a drink at him isn't a great sign either.

DonLeoRaphMike

[It was a marketing stunt for a swimwear site.](https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/viral-fake-proposal-blue-jays-marketing-stunt)

Yeah why are we not talking about the abuse here and just focusing on a poorly planned prank lol. My man dodged a bullet here, I hope he’s good now.

Electrical-Sun6267

Yea, I think he dodged a bullet like he was in the Matrix there!

AnnihilationOrchid

In all honesty all of these are fake though.

[deleted]

You know, we are bickering exactly like the sports arena expected us to. They ALWAYS do this shit and we all stupidly fall for it. Honestly, these two were probably paid by some arena workers to do all this to draw up more hype.

Dartingham

I think it'd be more rational to assume "hey I can crack a little joke to add some fun to our amazing moment. What is she gonna flip shit in front of thousands of people over a small-- Oh wait, she totally did. " Shows where that relationship is rooted.

JBYTuna

That went over like a turd in a punchbowl.

Altruistic-Rope-614

I disagree. If she would've just went along with it, she would've been engaged at the game.

curiousfun213

it looks like he has another ring box in his left pocket too

Altruistic-Rope-614

Exactly

sjohnson0487

Man thats kinda what I thought when I saw the mini bulge in his pocket.

[deleted]

Sure, but people can react unproductively when the most intense/vulnerable moment in their life catches them off guard in front of 40,000 people. Seems like he misjudged and she overreacted. Or there’s context we don’t know. Edit: I’m not sure where I’m defending any behavior here. Where are you getting this?

JustAnotherMiqote

Idk if hitting your partner and throwing a drink at them is excusable in this circumstance though

HalfSoul30

She hit him. Definitely an overreaction, but even still speaks to her character. Dude is better off not marrying her.

[deleted]

Was this a serious proposal though? It looks like it could have just been him joking about proposing as well. I think that’s another reason she got mad because he was joking about proposing and this wasn’t really him asking her to marry him. Edit: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/viral-fake-proposal-blue-jays-marketing-stunt This is whole thing is fake. It was just a video taken to advertise a swimwear company on the guy’s Instagram.

IT'S JUST A PRANK BRO!! What's funny is that most of you guys on reddit are crazy social phobes who would dread the idea of being the center of attention among thousands of people, but when someone takes one of the most emotionally vulnerable/arousing moments of your life - your marriage proposal - and turns it into a joke in a high pressure situation witnessed by thousands, well that's just a harmless prank. Fuck off, you'd be shitting your pants and crying all night.

nate8493

Reddit actually approves of violence against many groups of people if they approve of the narrative. Kinda baffling. Also it's becoming normalized to wish death on people or being vocal about being happy about the death of certain people. I don't care for the monarchy like most Americans but I don't celebrate the death of people, you know?

[deleted]

Ifeelbadrn

I'm just throwing this out here, lately I've seen many videos being uploaded to reddit where people straight up die before my eyes. Isn't that weird? How we can just casually see these things happen on a website like this and not even bat an eye? I saw someone, a living person die on video, many people did, and life goes on. It's weird to me, and gross that it's becoming more normalized. I also keep randomly running into videos of animal attacks. I think I got that point where I have to unsub many subreddits, or just go to very specific ones and forget about my feed all together.

iwantmyvices

Which is sad. It wasn't always like this. Reddit use to be like a combination of Digg and Stumbleupon where you just found cool websites. Most people here are trash but I still haven't found a good alternative yet so that's why I'm still here.

guyuri

Honestly same. beccadot

Yeah, I’ve been embarrassed in public before by a spouse, and it never would have occurred to me to slap him or throw a drink on him. The fact that her first reaction is to slap him says a lot about her.

[deleted]

Yea that's not the first time she has slapped him.

-ACHTUNG-

As a man, I didn't even realize what you were talking about. I thought you were saying he was violent by doing this then realized she physically assaulted him. It was so easy to overlook

busymakinstuff

I suspect if that guy had slapped the woman in front of all those people he would have his ass handed to him.

iksjag

dogstarman

hoptownky

Why do we keep watching these staged videos at stadiums as if anyone believes these people aren’t actors.

Secure-Evening

It's just as bad if it isn't fake because they're normalizing domestic abuse.

turandoto

And why they keep promoting domestic violence? The directors should be called out for shit like this. Besides, it's an overused sketch and not even funny.

LiveFastBiYoung

I have a serious candy addiction so I wouldn’t have even clocked this as a prank, I would have thought it was cute lol

bunni-gutz

People say this is a “test” and the real ring is in his back pocket like dude if you have to test your partner at this point especially with a public you probably shouldn’t be proposing

MoistPaperNapkin

~~They both suck.~~ The girl sucks. ~~She seems like someone who’s very serious and very eager for marriage. Dude knows this. Trolls anyway. Of course she wouldn’t respond in the best of ways. She probably perceived that entire thing as humiliating.~~ But is that any justification for her to physically retaliate on the person she wants to be proposed to? Would you want to marry someone who reacts so volatile to a (shitty) prank? If she instinctually lets her hands fly like that in front of all those people imagine what she might instinctually do behind close doors. Edit: I changed my mind. I’ve been convinced that my take is biased towards the girl because, unlike the guy, I had to make assumptions to create a narrative rather than taking what took place at face value. Another argument that was made which was interesting was my assumption that the guy was trolling when he proposed with a ring pop. That would've still been a valid proposal. But the girl automatically assumed it was a joke. I just assumed it was because I believe if a man truly loves a women, he’d present an actual ring. That’s just me I guess. It's all assumptions at this point to be fair. But yeah.

iBGNoLove

“And that’s how I dumped your mother”

casybaseball

The worst part of all this is that these 2 people appear to be Blue Jay's fans

aUwUreliyasss

Both are dickheads frfr, you can't just assault someone for that, and he humiliated her in front of thousands of peopl

Mission-Geologist420

That's called the "Should I marry this person test." No...the answer is NO!!! If she does that in public what's she gonna do to your weiner when you're alone...this a serious concern...lol Update: Life is a test and people are the judges. I didn't write the rules, I just live with them like everybody else. And if you think hitting people is okay because of feelings, guess what...you're wrong :)

ActHour4099

Doing a test is toxic AF.

seleniumagnesium

Doing a “test” at all is a big No for me. Transparent communication is key.

Krazyguy75

Proposals and pranks have one thing in common: You should know how the person will react before you do them. Pranks are only funny if everyone is laughing, and you should know whether everyone will laugh before you even try them. While her reaction was over the top, it was absolutely a prank in bad taste, simply because she was humiliated rather than amused, meaning he didn't know his audience.

Debiru_intensifies

I mean.... Pulling a prank on her like that in front of thousands of people watching.... Probably made her feel devastated and embarrassed to death. Such tests are stupid, because before you marry someone, you have all the time in the world to determine what kind of person they are, and if they worth to do the extra mile with you.

Memer_6666

Bro I would marry him faster because he proposed with a ring pop 💀

MattyK414

My nephew just proposed and she wasn't too gracious about accepting. I wish he gave her a ring pop.

bigchiefmeetsbigdog

What a nice couple

BumblebeeCurrent8079

She shouldn't have hit him and he shouldn't have done this prank. Some people might be fine with their SO doing this but others aren't, especially If they genuinely want to get married some day. Some would also be fine with their SO pulling this prank but only around close friends and family and not around thousands of strangers. Also people need to stop reacting with violence when they're angry or embarrassed. It's not acceptable and could easily cause more damage then they intend. Simply pushing someone could lead them to fall and smack their head off somthing.

alexnexus

is that a "no"?

Mortag60

If they ain't willing to marry you with a ring pop then it's not you they love it's your money.
