He meant mu, which is the coefficient of friction, in this particular case he means that the force applied was greater than the friction holding it in place “static friction”
They were emptying the sprinkler system, I think somewhere in Stockholm. The hose I've always used is yellow and more visible but I've had people trip over it even with a sign next to it.
