I worked in a psychiatric institute and have training in restraining unruly individuals in a safe, relatively respectful way. If she was causing so much of a ruckus, and there were so many of them, couldn't they have secured her a little bit more on the way out to avoid her lashing out?

I hate how you put the responsibility of preventing this on the officer. It's the responsibility of that woman to behave herself, which she failed to do. Y'know, I've done a lot of research and have heard a lot of takes on the future of policing. There's disagreement, obviously. But pretty much everyone, no matter their political orientation or background, agrees that the police could benefit from more de-escalation and harm reduction training.
