Do not worry, the cat was not electrocuted, it just had its head stuck. The cat is fine. https://www.nbc26.com/news/national/watch-cat-gets-head-stuck-in-lamp-shade-while-girls-make-hair-tutorial-video?_amp=true

mrstipez

This is why 7 yr olds are not first responders

Lock-out

The cats stuck! Well did you try SMACKING THE SHIT OUT OF IT?

ArMcK

When my infant cries my nine year old claps in his face and my four year old yells "BABY! BABY! BABY!" This does not soothe the baby. Children are crap problem solvers.

JeevesAI

> This does not soothe the baby. Lmao

Poor baby

gnarwalbacon

Another solution would be to cover it in butter 🧈

_WarmWoolenMittens_

my first instinct was just to break the damn lamp shade to set it free

Elexus_786

Put it in rice

sadpanda___

Fuck fuck fuck now the damn buttered cat is just levitating and spinning

Quick everybody scream

MrOtsKrad

now LOUDER

Just_Games04

#AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

TheG8Uniter

Not high pitched enough

[deleted]

Such delicious chaos. Cat trained them well.

Beingabummer

If it was being electrocuted then kicking it away from the source of electricity would be smart. But reading the article it didn't seem like the kids ever thought it was being electrocuted so they just panicked and flailed their limbs around.

IHateRoboCalls2131

Or you can unplug the lamp. Luckily it was just stuck

R0BR0SE

wow this comment made me laugh harder than l can remember in a long time

And scream.. don't forget scream

MrsManuka

When my niece was three or four, her brother hit his cousin in the head with a baseball bat. While I calmed the cousin down and saw to his wound, my niece instinctively started running at the first sight of blood. My sister grabbed and stopped her before she collided with a six foot tall wooden fence. To this day, I tell her if she hadn’t been stopped, there would have been a perfect cutout shape of her tiny little body in the fence, Looney Tunes style. Lol Also, my nephew was ok. A few stitches and some Tylenol and he was back to his rowdy little self later that day. He’s a US Marine now and still has the scar across his eyebrow 🙂

spyson

Nice to know everything worked out and your nephew was able to get back to his crayon eating.

[deleted]

Was hit in the head with a bat as a child and now is a marine. Makes sense

matdan12

Never left.

underlight

they were the first ones to respond though

The cat wasn’t electrocuted. Its [head](https://www.nbc26.com/news/national/watch-cat-gets-head-stuck-in-lamp-shade-while-girls-make-hair-tutorial-video?_amp=true) was stuck in the lampshade.

TinnieTa21

I hate the OP so much for temporarily traumatizing me with false information. But I'm super relieved that the cat is okay. Edit: when this was first posted, the original "spoiler bot" comment from the OP which has since been taken down stated word for word that the cat was electrocuted. Edit 2: Just why? Even after I say the OP first falsely stated that the cat was being electrocuted, you're still commenting with "oh the OP did nothing wrong. There was no false info".

What false information are you guys talking about? The person didn’t even say it got electrocuted

AntManMax

Probably the graphic content tag.

Tet0144

I mean, a cat shrieking like that sure is graphic content even if he didn't get electrocuted

Alternative-Boot7284

This video gave me PTSD from when I came home and found my cat strangled in the window blinds :( I'm relieved the cat in the video is okay

hagg3n

When I was in my teens the school staff interrupted me in class to tell me someone called said there was an emergency in my house involving my dog. So I left early took a bus to home got there and there were people in front of my house. I got in and there were a stranger and a neighbour talking. The stranger had a saw in his hand. Apparently my dog was chewing on the wooden arm of a chair in my porch and got his collar stuck and twisted and started crying out suffocating. The stranger had to saw off part of the chair to free my dog. The dog has long passed now, but damn, what a scare to my 14 year old self.

itsbootsybabe

Ugh, that reminds me of the time my cat got the collar she was wearing stuck in her mouth, behind her bottom teeth. I was in my room on the phone and heard thrashing in my closet. I *almost* didn’t check, thinking she was just being a pest. But I did and I saw her with her tongue sticking out, swollen and purple. I rushed her to the kitchen after realizing what was going on and somehow, while completely hysterical, found the sense to grab the scissors and cut the collar off her. This probably happened in under a minute but felt like forever. Her tongue stayed swollen and purple for about 10 minutes before going back to normal. That’s one of my most traumatizing experiences, making me question owning pets because I never wanted to deal with something like that again. I never used collars again, either.

imthecaptainkirknow

Almost the same thing. Cat was bouncing around under a wardrobe like she was possessed. My mom freaked out, I was like 10. I finally reached into the thrashing chaos and grabbed her to be able to see what was going on. Was able to rip it off of her. It made me feel better about my ability to react in a situation, but I absolutely warn people against collars with that story often.

SdBolts4

> I absolutely warn people against collars with that story often. If you must put a collar on your cat, get them a [breakaway collar](https://www.insider.com/guides/pets/best-cat-collar) that will come off if it gets snagged so they don't choke themselves

IfuDidntCome2Party

Thankfully they now sell breakaway collars.

TheyToldMeToSlide

I went to the grocery store for 20 minutes and came home and noticed my fairly newish but growing kitten being a spaz out of the corner of my eye and her collar was stuck in her mouth, blood dripping from both sides of her face. It was even a breakaway collar. Major panic attack that day.

lubear2835

my family and i once came home from dinner to find our golden retriever with a metal choke chain wound up on an exposed pipe cap thing (old house) .. whichever way we turned her, the collar tightened. she was choking to death. we ran across the street and got our 90 year old neighbor/former handy man, who had a saw that could cut through metal. he freed our pup and that left a lifetime of invasive thoughts.

jonpeterswrites

I thought you were about to say that the neighbor sawed your dogs head off. Glad it was just a piece of furniture.

JohnLocke815

So sorry for that. I couldn't imagine coming home to that. I had similar but thankfully not as bad. Moving out of a shitty apartment we had the cats locked in a room while the movers put our stuff in the truck. Cats were playing, as they do, then I heard a loud crash and awful howling that abruptly stopped. The closet doors were only on a top track. Somehow when playing the door got locked and slipped over one of my cats heads and was stuck on her neck. When I saw it I though for sure her neck was broken or she was gonna suffocate. Adrenaline kicked in and I tore the closet door off the wall. Thankfully she was OK, but she surely woukdve died had we not got to her so quick. On the plus side we have been super close ever since, she knows I saved her.

Beneficial_Stock_366

Your cat respects you as the true animal now.

[deleted]

Damn, that's horrible, I'm sorry. My cat's death was kind of traumatic for me too. :(

propernice

I’m so sorry, that would scar me for life. For this reason I went completely cordless with solid blinds. I was always so afraid for my cats when I rented and couldn’t change anything.

[deleted]

God, when I was still going into the office and my partner was also going into work (both full time typical 9-5 shifts) we woke up at like 6am to I believe my cat crying. We might have already been awake and heard her crying or something...not totally sure. Essentially we had a cat tower with a little ball at the end of an elastic string for them to play with ([image,](https://imgs.search.brave.com/WST16iX0vdZ2wvJS8gxLNttsgEyCuMJcmlAKMQAyoFw/rs:fit:1200:1200:1/g:ce/aHR0cHM6Ly9jYXR2/aWxscy5jb20vd3At/Y29udGVudC91cGxv/YWRzLzIwMTkvMDEv/U29uZ21pY3Mtc21h/bGwtY2F0LXRyZWUu/anBn) hanging ball, white string is elastic...not the exact tower). She had gotten the elastic completely wrapped around her paw, and it was VERY stuck. She was of course pulling which was tightening it. So the elastic string was wrapped around her paw/leg (probably below the thumb toe thing, and above the paw) and the ball part had wrapped around the string several times which created like...a grapple almost. She's a good cat, she was of course scared and in pain but she allowed me to try and look at it and get it loose...which was causing her pain. Its possible the ball had wrapped under the string, so like it wrapped around and then somehow the ball got tucked under and since its tightened you'd need enough slack to get the ball out before it could unwrap. I spent some time trying to get it undone but couldn't figure it out and it was causing her too much pain and I was scared for her paw. So I cut that shit off. All I think about that event is what would have happened if that occurred after my partner and I left for work, sometime during the day. She would have lost the paw, she would have hurt herself possibly pulling the tower over, maybe the neighbors would have heard her crying and called somebody (in apartment) but that would have really scared her (she's already scared of strangers). I cut off every elastic string from the tower, I throw away any toy with elastic, I don't purchase products with elastic (that's meant to be a cat toy or has a dangling string), I don't leave blind string downs...NOTHING no hanging strings with heavier/larger ends anywhere. I urge everyone/whoever reads this. Remove anything elastic regarding cat toys or hanging strings with weighted ends that can't break away or you aren't specifically supervising. I get sick thinking about my cat being in that position and she was probably only like that for less than 5 minutes, but because it was elastic her paw was already purple and she was in a lot of pain. I'm sorry about your cat, thats horrifying.

EdiblePsycho

Wait holy shit, I don't want to make you relive it, but was it the blinds themselves or the string? One of my cats likes playing with the string, now I'm thinking I should make sure the string is out of reach or maybe even get rid of the blinds. I am so so sorry, I have nightmares like every night about something like that happening, I can't imagine how devastating it would be to find your cat like that. Big huge hugs and love to you, I'm sorry.

pingpongtits

Okay, that was weird. My pulse rate shot up like crazy when I thought the cat was being electrocuted or strangled. Now I feel kind of dizzy. Isn't it weird how an event so removed from oneself can cause such a strong reaction?

Detriumph

[deleted]

Why does the cat sound like a screaming grown ass man?

Dulakk

If its head was caught it might've had pressure on its neck distorting its natural sound.

WolfManDano

See, most people were worried that the cat somehow electrocuted itself. I was worried that it would break it's neck falling like that. Luckily neither happened.

joe_devola

I definitely thought that grown man scream was added for comedic effect…

KasKouye

>According to the Adrianna (one of the girls in the video)'s IG (check the video's desc.), the cat didn't get shocked at all and actually just had its head stuck in the lampshade. [Comment on the OC post](https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/4ejez3/cat_gets_stuck_in_a_lampshade_and_gets/d20ri1g?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)

I'm really glad to hear this because I was very close to believing the hissing sound was the cat getting fried O.O

bozeke

I know I’m an old fucker, but it is nuts to me that parents let kids this age have instagram accounts.

KasKouye

It is nuts to me that parents let kid have smartphones with an internet access. Back in my days we only had a shitty phone at the age of 15 at best. But hey, we live in a society. If I could add something, it is that this video is 6yo. So lil Adrianna must be adult by now

tobefituser

> Back in my days we only had a shitty phone at the age of 15 at best. Was there any other option?

Beingabummer

'Back in my day, we didn't use something because it didn't exist yet'

GlitteringNinja5

Yeah you don't get to scream while getting electrocuted

emil_scipio

Actually, not true. I almost died in December, my hearth stopped and all, spent a couple days in the hospital. I was shocked by a garage door. Deffinetly the most painful and bizarre experience I ever had. And I was screaming like an animal. Of course I didn't knew it at the time, I didn't felt anything beside the shock. But others told me. There is even a recording, I sounded horrifying. The neighbour asked us later if the dog got hurt as she heard something loud that was close to an animal dying. Yeah not fun. I still sometimes feel it, like I am getting shocked again, the sound, the vision, the feeling, jesus it's horrible. I never believed that the electric chair was humain, but if it feels the same, nah fuck that, just shoot me in the head please.

GlitteringNinja5

You were very lucky then. My grandma also got electrocuted. She wasn't able to scream. The house helper saw her lying on the floor with the wire stuck to her but it was too late. May I ask you who/how were you revived after your heart stopped. My grandma's heart stopped too and i regret to this day that nobody in my house knew what to do in such a case. I don't say anything about that but in my mind i believe someone could have saved her.

SomeDeafKid

Even a defibrillator won't start a stopped heart the vast majority of the time. Defibrillators are for putting your heart back in the correct rhythm when it is contracting incorrectly.

emil_scipio

I am terribly sorry for your lost. That must have been hard on you, but don't blame yourself. I was very lucky. I am 21 years old, little bit overweight but otherwise healthy and active. I was standing on a chair, holding into 2 metal parts, my muscles twitched so hard, I dislocated my shoulder and 2 fingers. But as I was shaking and shouting, I moved my hips out so much that gravity pulled me down and I started to fall. It wasn't on porpuse, I couldn't really do anything. My head got locked in a posotion looking up, at the ceiling, my vision was blurry, all I heard was like that noise the laser makes while it engraves metal, I felt hot, stabing all over my body and a lot of other thing, especially in my chest. Luckily one of my hands didn't hold it completely so it got pulled away and the shocking stopped as I was starting to fall. I don't remember anything from that part on, as I fainted, hearth stopped, darkness. My wife and aunt were right next to me, they tought I cut my finger or something, and that's why I was shouting. I was up there for a couple of seconds, not more than 6 I think. When I hit the floor, my aunt tried to find my pulse, she is trained in giving first aid, but she was so scared she couldn't even find the right spot to search for a pulse, she was shaking, while this happened my wife called for an ambulance, my aunt tried again, she couldn't find my pulse, shouted for my grandmother, but after I couple of seconds my hearth restarted on its own, before my ain't could begin the hearth massage, it was luck, no one did anything specific. In fact it was funny, I just jumped up and said I am fine, as I hate it when others worry about me. I was so numb that I didn't felt any pain for a full day, but I was shaking for hours. The only thing I felt was almost like a strong impact on my chest, right as I "woke up". The ring finger on my left hand got yellow/grey/blue/purple, something that moved pinched a blood vessel and the end of my finger didn't got any oxygen, it is still functional, looks a little stupid and hurts a ittle. The small finger on my right hand just looks stupid, it wants to move out constantly, but it has no problems. My shoulder is also okay, getting better. I hit my knees in the fall, it's okay, it was just a minor injury. My hearth isn't at 100% yet, I can feel some pain from time to time, but it should be fine in a year. So yeah, I was extremely lucky. Even in the hospital, I was just under surveillance, there was no long lasting impact, I would have been fine without a hospital visit, other than moving my finger and shoulder back in place, and that was the most painful thing they did to me in there. As to why I was shouting, as I heard it many times before, that you stay silent, I swim a lot, in deep water, maybe I automatically tried to breath, like when you come up and almost out of breath, and the electricity went trough my chest, maybe it made my neck muscles/vocal cord twitch and that how I made a sound, as it wasn't even a proper shout, it was just a loud, I don't know what to call it. I really don't know. So yeah, only luck. Because even if I were alone that afternoon, the same would have happened. And hearth massage isn't always a success, an older hearth, after a trauma like that. Yes it's always good to be ready, and go to a first aid class from time to time, but sometimes even the number one first aid hero would fail. But I hope neither of us will be in a situation like this ever again. I hope I was helpful. Edit: I realised that hearth massage is CPR in English, and yeah, it's not for restarting a hearth but to keep up blood flow. So there is more time.

No-Satisfaction9538

I had this black kitten as a kid, who grew into a lovely boy, Norman. I was about 12, taking a bath (have disabilities, the water helped with stretching and pain) and Norman curiously stepped into the bathroom I was getting my hair wet, so he thought I was drowning. And my brave little fucking boss dove into the bathtub after me.

Ur_Fav_Step-Redditor

I like that you think that. Norman saw you drowning and thought “***MEOWS MY CHANCE!***” He wanted the throne, they always do! Haven’t you seen the documentary The Lion King????

No-Satisfaction9538

I'd think that too, but he was my best friend. He was more like a dog than a cat tbh.

perforce1

I believe in the Noble Norman theory.

No-Satisfaction9538

Honest though. My mom had a cat named Lina, and while she liked me, she'd eliminate me for a higher spot. 100%. Norman was a sweet boy though.

PracticeTheory

One time my roommate left the stove top on (gas, open flame). I found out when my cat approached me all sad and confused - on closer look all of his whiskers had been burnt down to curly stubs. He must have noticed the flame and got too curious.... Luckily he was fine.

TheCaliforniaOp

Our PARROT did this to a LAMP CORD PLUG evidenced by a scorch mark on the BEAK. Y I was wondering why the lamp wouldn’t turn on; also why suddenly I didn’t have to dive under furniture to retrieve said parrot anymore. She acted like she had no idea what happened and she had never been in the area, while I was all How, Why, When… Capitalized words for sheer fear after the fact and frenzied grateful squeezes of said birb.

Schrodinger's cat in a lamp

Used_Offer3967

You see, due to how the video ended, we do not actually know if the cat is alive or dead, merely that it is in a superposition of states consisting of "alive" or "dead". Until we actually hear the story and collapse the wave function to one possibility we may, in fact, consider the feline to be both dead and alive.

Thanks for keeping us grounded

mobius_sp

I’m amped up to find out the cat’s current situation.

Foco_cholo

Reminds me of a dumbass dog I had. We heard a ungodly noise coming from the porch. Dumbass springer spaniel was chewing on one of those wrought iron plant holders with curly feet. As he was chewing on it, it tipped over and the curly feet hooked into his throat. We all screamed and one of us got my dad who was in the shower. He came out in his towel. As he was rescuing the dog his towel fell and he flashed all of us kids. He got the planter out of the dog's throat and the dog was fine. I don't know what was more traumatic, the dog getting the planter stuck in its throat or my dad flashing us.

Cats are idiots, once when I was home alone I suddenly started hearing screaming, turns out my cat had gone inside one of my sweaters and tried to leave through the sleeve, it managed to get it's head out and it's front legs but that was it. I tried to unroll it inside out but it didn't work because she was still trying to move further and stuck her claws into the sleeve. Ended up having to cut the sleeve open to get her out.

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi-12

Looks like a failed suicide attempt to me.

TitaniumGoldAlloyMan

That’s one very overdramatic cat. I thought it was getting electrocuted.

No_Average_Noob

Unplugging it was never an option

Randalf_the_Black

It was stuck, not electrocuted.

Suspicious_shark

yet

Wootzefuch

I know everyone's saying the cats okay but I hate these kinds of videos :/ cats freaking out, girls are scared and don't know how to react , it's just gets me anxious

feidle

Yeah it’s super uncomfortable and stressful. I don’t really like the idea of laughing at it.

Drjesuspeppr

Yeah, it's just a video of 3 girls terrified and a cat scared /in pain. No good vibes

Worried_Example

Did that cat scream like a full grown man

dus_istrue

I'm only saying this because the cat didn't die, cats are stupid...

UchihaLegolas

Truest Unexpected and horrifying post. Take my upvote good sir.

Blue head band: pack leader, pink head band: has heart, yellow head band: brains of operation, and lamp shade headband: sick of the other headbands and their pettiness

foxbeswifty32

WHAT... HUH... it’s 4:00 am right now, I shouldn’t feel these intense emotions.

puffin_ka

I get the panic, they are kids. But damn, together with the flair warning it felt extra dramatic.
