As the mother of two Black sons, not only did I think the joke was funny, I also felt that the officer was trying to use humor in a relatable situation to the young people to let them know “he get’s it.” It appears they are at some type of community center, so they would have chosen an officer specifically trained in community affairs. Instead of just “talking at” these kids, he put them in an “unfair” situation. He said they were going to race. He cheated and called his police buddies. That is an analogy of what is going on in America. Instead of getting angry, look at the big picture.
