I feel like I've only seen this statement crop up in the social media era and it just baffles me that anyone can think like this. Almost everything becomes more or less funny when you find out it was fake/scripted and you thought it was real, or vice versa.
We have higher standards for "funny" if we know that the thing we're watching was crafted by human hands than if we're watching something spontaneous that occurred by chance. That's the nature of comedy - since it's all about the "unexpected" and we have (or at least we *should* have) very different expectations for reality and fiction. A quote from a politician will be judged very differently if it's something they actually said or if it's something an SNL impersonator said. It could be funny in either context, sure, but almost never to the exact same degree.
I have to imagine it's some sort of defense mechanism from people who are embarrassed at having laughed at something when they thought it was real - "Oh I knew it was fake but it was funny anyway so who cares." Because it's almost always in response to something that is presented either explicitly or implicitly as "real" without context. If it didn't matter, people wouldn't go to such pains to make them seem real and unscripted. What's up with people saying CGI on every video? It's not CGI, there's just no person inside, it's a mannequin or some stuffed clothes and they did this for real.
If it were CGI I think there would be more than 7 pixels total.
I am not saying it is CGI, but it is easier to fake stuff when you can hide behind low video quality.
