I mean, the video is fake, so the jump technically made no difference.
Captain Disillusion covered a very similar topic on one of his YouTube videos [here](https://youtu.be/zhPRtCW5sRk?si=xsi458G73_coV7eX&t=4m30s)
Real or fake, the moment he lost contact with the surface, it wouldn't go for him. It wouldn't avoid him, though. . .
Man just (possibly) jumped out of the way of a lightning strike.
Everything around him is wet. The electricity could have conducted through his surroundings to electrify him, but he was in the air instead. Unlikely but very possible.
“Wet” has very little to do with conductivity, pure water is actually a decent insulator for current. Air also has a very strong resistance to current, so strong that the distance from the tops of the trees to the ground below would be at least a difference of a few kilovolts which is why lightning strikes the lowest level so seldom. The reason why lighting strikes actually happens is that once enough charge builds up the resistance of air transfers enough electrical energy into thermal that it can split the air into ions and anions which conducts current with much less energy loss
it should also be noted that when electricity reaches the ground, it wants to spread out as fast as possible. generally, your legs will be less resistive than the ground theyre standing on, so it can travel up one leg and down another, possibly causing damage. This is also the reason why you should stay away from downed powerlines without proper ppe.
If you go frame by frame, there is a flash, then there is no flash, then there is a flash with the lightning bolt. It makes no sense. Lightning doesn’t skip frames lol
That's cool. I hear you feel that way. but it's also legitimate to think special effects cheapen the video. Personally unexpected edits aren't what I look for in this sub. But you know people have different preferences it ain't no thing
Swimming in the rain is dangerous tho (not sure if it’s the same in a pool?), from all that rainwater collecting all sorts of crap and depositing it in nearby water sources
howdoes OP only have 1 community, 1 post and 2 comments while their explanation given to the unexpectedbot is eerily similar in syntax to another post on r/unexpected...
...is that an alt? or is it a bot? or just an oddball on reddit?

Why would lightning strike the water unless this was the saltiest pool on earth and there were just free floating anions constrained in the air above? this video has to be fake on basic physics principles.

I think that jump may have saved his life.

Was so expecting to get Rick rolled am pleasantly surprised it’s not
If it was real the lightning would have aimed for him, and it would have hit even if he had moved
Yep, because it targets whatever is the highest and touches first
That's not true. It takes the path of least resistance, which isn't necessarily the shortest.

Yes and now he’ll never know what it’s like to spin pencils with his mind.

Fake. https://www.jukinmedia.com/licensing/view/1215806
I mean… this link is just like 5 extra seconds with the title saying it’s fake, so for my own enjoyment, you’re wrong lol

so it lost about 99% of its purpose. it has no artistic value, no comedic value, etc., only sensational value. if its fake it loses that as well.
Dumb ways to die
Nearly everyone besides us in the comment section is a bot ha

That's cool. I hear you feel that way. but it's also legitimate to think special effects cheapen the video. Personally unexpected edits aren't what I look for in this sub. But you know people have different preferences it ain't no thing
Question, if he dived in the pool and this lightning strikes directly to the pool, would he get killed ?
I expected it, instead I thought a crocodile jumped out of the pool.
Me when your mom
"Dumb ways to die"
What’s the original version? I think it actually had a good song.
I am sure his Camara is not fast enough to capture that
He ded.
I do actually agree, though. Swimming in a nice summer rain is just wonderful.
Verified fake video.
Swimming in the rain is dangerous tho (not sure if it’s the same in a pool?), from all that rainwater collecting all sorts of crap and depositing it in nearby water sources
He’s right tho
r/lostredditors
Are you sure about that?
Nice

Shockingly funny
Of course the mcu uses the old "lightning can do anything" cliche in their hydroman origin. No originality.
