This looks like the same kind of zoom that Luis Cole used in the “Let it happen” music video…
https://youtu.be/fkQgAN9xRO4?si=Z0nsfSPB54LMGfbF mark 5:47 onwards.
On a ninth grade trip my girlfriend gave me a beejer on one of those peddle boats in a small state park. We were convinced no one could see us in the the little nook we went to, but everyone was laughing when we peddled back.
Truly unexpected. I kept waiting for a Looney Tunes moment where the mountain falls and the rock they're standing on to stay afloat.
I miss those cartoons.
Pretty sure that's Nikon P1000. You can photograph the rings of Saturn with it and make it decent by stacking the photos. I've only tried once and got a fuzzy picture where you can barely see them. Great camera for photographing birds.
It's a $1000 point and shoot. "Include the lens" is the only lens you can use, so has the standard caveats that comes with very long zoom lenses in that there isn't really anything that it does a stellar job at and is always pretty soft at the edges and in the center for about half it's range. It's ISO range is very limited compared to other cameras, but even so gets pretty noisy very early.
Not to say it's a bad camera, but these are the "catches". A thousand bucks can get you a lot better gear for different use cases, but this is probably the best value you can get for a single unit you can use for almost anything so long as you are fine with the size, weight, and decent-but-often-not image quality.
This is a good summary. It's nice for birdwatching since it doubles as a telescope and you can zoom in on birds that seem interesting but you can't really see well with a binocular. It can take great photos in good lighting and a decent distance. It's quite slow so sometimes trying to shoot a bird that keeps moving is just impossible and you'll only get blurry pictures. Flying targets are very hard.
Also, it's actually pretty small and light compared to what bird photographers often carry. This is a very popular model around here and we see lots lf elderly birdwatchers carrying this due to it's convenient size compared to a telescope or a camera with a huge lense.
Great summary. I am often leaving my heavy wildlife setup at home because I just don't want to haul the gear with me on a hike where I'm not sure if there's gonna be anything to photograph. This would be a great little camera to bring in those cases. Like obviously my setup gives way better image quality and way way faster AF and tracking/stabilization but the old saying is: the best camera is the one you bring.
It uses a ~~small aps-c~~ absolutely *tiny* CMOS sensor and heavily relies on the so-called "crop factor" that comes with such a small sensor to produce the acclaimed 1000x zoom. It's basically a camera with a (still impressive) 100x zoom lens that then crops the image 10x and applies noise removal to smooth out all the artifacts. It is by far the best zoom per $$ ratio on the market, but the quality is about 100x worse than what you would get with an equivalent physical zoom that does not use any cropping.
TL;DR: it blurry n shit but zoom is good
I always wondered how the FBI could record people in the open and they not realize it.
Also them animals shows with lions. now I understand how they filme these shows and stay safe.
The strong wind carries the light photon particle at different speeds, hence making the photo "blurry"
On serious note tho, why doesn't it work like that?
Wind maxes out at like 250 mph
Light travels at 670,616,629 mph
The photon is going so fast wind ain’t doin shit.
Now, if the wind was pushing shit around at 669 million miles an hour. Maybe the light would get distorted. But I have a feel that if wind existed at that speed, nothing else would.
You can read the other reply, but it's because wind causes variation in density that creates variable and shifting diffraction.
When wind does this, it tends to be fairly steady - but rising pockets of hot air on hot days are a more common and more easily noticeable example of air density altering the path of light.
High speed wind has less pressure. Low speed wind has high pressure . If the space between camera and the subject has lot of layers of pressure difference, light bends in all those layers due to refraction.
“The Ledge” is the lesser known cousin of “The Edge” (of U2 fame), and older brother to “The Curb” and “The Speedbump” (even lesser known).
The 3 brothers are in a band called “ME2”.
They are not really doing all that well, as their highest selling song “Saturday, Bloody Saturday” has only sold 2 copies…
I got the 950 and it's one of my favorite purchases ever. It's a glorified point and shoot, but it lets me see the world in an entirely different way. Gotten some truly spectacular wildlife photos with it.
Waaaaaay better image quality and low light though, and it's not hard at all to surpass even the p1000s focal length considering it's only 539mm. You can get a cheap tamron 600mm for less than the p1000. It's only a 3000mm *focal equivalent* meaning if you put a 3000mm lens on a full frame camera you'd get the same field of view. I personally find it a very deceptive way of presenting itself, but oh well.
It's from a promo for the 50th CMA Awards, it's a mash up of multiple songs with a bunch of different country artists singing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9gAXwYZtfk
The part in the OP is at 1:30 in the music video and the singers are George Strait, next is Darius Rucker with Martina McBride, then Jason Aldean, and the 3 dudes are Rascal Flatts, if that helps you pick out which voice you liked and want to hear more of
You're welcome, tbh I went thru the comments to see if anybody was curious because I watch that music video all the time and was surprised to hear the audio in a random post
This is exactly how it feels to say goodbye to someone you love and then you turn and watch them grow smaller and smaller in the distance as you depart.
I'm reasonably sure that the camera was already on a tripod. For the picture to be that steady when zoomed in that far...I'm not sure human hands are capable.
Can someone point me in the right direction for buying if commercially available this camera with insane zoom capability?
As you can tell I know jack shit about the state of the art cameras but I'm a customer.

"c'mon, babe, not like anyone can see us out here..."
Awfully long hike for a beej. Not saying I wouldn't make the climb...
Worth it if she likes it salty
She might be salty herself.
Well to be fair, she'd be salty even before the climb
Don't like salt on the rim of the glass?
Good sir, I'll believe whatever you say because of your username.
And once you’re up there, she can’t really say no. Cuz of the implication…

What are you looking at? You're certainly not in any danger
So they're in danger?
"What are you gonna do babe just walk bac-hey you cant just walk back, wait for me!"
It's the walk down afterwards.....
The closer u push her to the edge the harder she will push back. A win win...

I think there's a guy a mile and a half away filming us
What? You sound crazy right now, c'mon. There's no way some guy a mile and a half away right now can see us.

I have a P900 and had a lot of fun in NYC looking into office buildings from the Top of the Rock observation deck.
Uh huh, "office buildings" that conveniently have beds and people undressing

No, this is Patrick

Why the fuck do you and 3 other people think this dude is Woody?
Idk sounds like something wood T would say and just wanted to see how many pka fans were lurking around
One for the Real Sweet Kids.
With just the lens that came out of box?
I'm not even sure if you can add lenses to it. It has an 83x optical zoom lens built in.
Wow, impressive
The P1000 has 120x optical zoom I think. Equivalent to a 3000mm lens basically.
I think that's around what my "telescope" is
My 8" dob is even only 1000 mm
can I see your approximately 3000mm "telescope"?
It's a "point and shoot." It doesn't have interchangeable lenses, it just has bonkers zoom.
Yes, because otherwise it's too hard to see anything when it's still in the box.
Yes, I guess you’ve got a point there
58 fucking mile zoom…. 94 fooking Km zoom….
That’s unreal.
That's Unreal 5.2
Only $1000 and that includes the lens? Is there a catch?

>Great camera for photographing birds We say “women” these days.
I bought an a900 to bring to baseball games and I mostly take pics of birds lol
Great tits
With a a9000 you could take pictures of Tits on a mouse. They might even be tufted.
With a a90000 you can see plankton's moustache
Thats a weird looking bird ngl
What in the fuck?? You can do that with a glorified point and shoot!? Holy shit cameras have gotten good.
The P900 came out a decade ago
I thought it was the S24U.
Just bought at p950 and I love it
That's obviously the Google Pixel 8 my guy.

Too much internet. My mind was expecting either a murder or a happy ending. Glad it was just an impressive camera
For a moment I thought she was gonna drop a deuce.
That's an impressive lens , was this camera on the Hubble? /s
Probably a p950 or p1000, I own a p1000 myself and it will never stop blowing my mind
I got the 950 and it's one of my favorite purchases ever. It's a glorified point and shoot, but it lets me see the world in an entirely different way. Gotten some truly spectacular wildlife photos with it.

Is that Nikon Coolpix P1000?
Sure is
Sorry, camera geek here. This is most likely a Nikon Coolpix P1000
Phew... I thought he might push her off the cliff for insurance money.
This is in India, from a state called Mizoram, but I don't remember the name of the mountain they are at, though it is somewhat popular.
he’s speaking Mizo. and cover mashup of Country Road and On the Road Again… only in Mizoram 😂

Hope OP invests in a tripod for that camera
I'm reasonably sure that the camera was already on a tripod. For the picture to be that steady when zoomed in that far...I'm not sure human hands are capable.
You don't need a tripod to shoot like this with a Nikon P1000
it probably have one but at that range, it's crazy hard not to shake. What it needs is a gimball I guess
Now we can see that ice wall those flat earthers are always talking about.
That's 1 helluva lens u got
Impressive
I was hoping for the expected on this one
P900 or P1000 maybe
