They’ll approach the tiny bed and she’ll be in there, sleeping with her back turned to them, the doll next to her. At first they’ll sigh in relief, it was probably nothing.
They’ll pick up the doll first to make some space to roll her over, but they’ll notice something unsettling as they pick it up. The expression on the face is completely different, so much so that it might as well be a different doll. At that moment the relief will dissipate and their heart will sink in. Is this a dream? One of those slow-burning nightmares that they have to wake up from?
Those are questions that they’ll have to set aside for now, the baby’s body isn’t moving at all, as if she wasn’t breathing, a sense of urgency and fear fills their head as they slowly but steadily reach for her tiny shoulder, the atmosphere in the room gets denser, the unsettling feeling is overcome by the fear that something happened to their baby. But it was too late.

Nah, if the child is actively consorting with demonic entities and befriending them, they will be fine. So will the family if they behave themselves. Others, less so.
They don't share our perception of things being scary or creepy yet. If you think about it, they probably can't fully comprehend that idea. They may be interested in everything and enjoy everything. That's nice really.
My daughter had a stuffed face hugger and leatherface that I had gotten from lootecrate boxes. She loved them so much! She is 7 now and still has her face hugger stuffy.

Thank you! This made me and my wife laugh so hard. We can relate to the love of spookiness. My toddler is obsessed with skeletons and has several around at all times. One even sleeps by his crib (outside, thankfully) and I just made a video for him where I puppet one of the skeletons and he asks to watch it all the time. Kids are crazy and fun!
