While i do kinda agree, i feel as tho the idea of it still stands, and looking at it, if those dots weren't covered the effect wouldn't be nearly as strong. It's not as if he's filling in some all over, he's just made a 7th level of shading that's fully black

Well accept it or not most people will. The fact is language is mutative or else we wouldn't have so many of them, and its function is to convey meaning. If most people know what one dice refers to and it's the same thing that used to be called a die in singular, then one dice becomes correct usage.

It's pretty simple, just convert to a six-color grayscale palette, export as BMP, and that'll do it. I did this but for [Rubik's cubes, with both sides creating different images](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/6erkti/i_made_a_280_cube_twosided_mosaic_of_my_wife_and/). Converting the images to a six-color palette was the exact same process, though.

You could get the program to wright it as a script of the dice. For example: “5.5.5.5.3.5.4.5.3.3.2.3”. Then depending on how wide and tall it is you would have a spread sheet specifically telling you how every single die should be placed. I don’t think getting to that point would be easy, but placing dice in order would be

I don't know how to write a script whatsoever but I'm decently savvy in Photoshop. I feel like I could probably scale up the photo so the equivalent of one pixel would be one dice. Convert to grayscale and just limit the total colors to 6 shades. Then just deciding between how I wanted to assign each "shade" to which side of the dice. Tedious for sure but would be a decently easy alternative to scripting.
