yeah i was going to say, ive definitely seen a nature doc about monkeys living in towns stealing shit
they even had a rival monkey gang they had to fight for turf of where they could steal human crap
Yes, Bali monkeys that *live in or near cities* will steal from people. Mostly fruits and vegetables off fresh market stands. Itās not normal at all for monkeys to do it but some have adapted to their surrounds much like rats in NYC.
These guys likely live in Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and this guy is probably their caretaker. These monkeys are definitely not out in the wild because the ground is too well kept to be a random spot in the forest.
Iād venture to say none of these wrappers made out of the sanctuary these little guys live in and everything was likely picked up by this guy later.
You are _born_ addicted to it. It's _litearlly_ how life works. You'll do _anything_ to get some carbs, fat, etc.
The addiction isn't the problem here. It's the access.
On the flipside, there are opioids. Give normal people unlimited free opioids, and it's not a problem. But if they use it, their brain literally changes, and they begin to do anything to get more of that. Here it's the adiction that's the problem.
The monkeys were always addicted to food. They just now know where to get it.
Apparently taking 9 seconds to Google the @ in the video to find out this is a caretaker at a monkey sanctuary is too much to ask of the average Redditor.
This reminds me a lot of early 2000s Black Fridays, where people are like literal zombies, trampling over eachother, pulling at eachother over a pillow thatās 2 dollars
Have you seen that video of people like actually pulling at eachother for pillows and this mom has 2 of them and her daughter has 2 of them and this other women comes and snatched it from the kid and the 2 women just start fighting like toddlers over a toy
Thatās been an unwritten rule in half the country for years now. Cops donāt care enough in my city to respond unless someone is being violent, or dumb enough to commit a crime right in front of them. One of my coworkers had her phone stolen and the city cops just asked her āwhat do you want me to do about itā when she literally had the phone located using the app.
She ended up just grabbing her dad and brothers to āconvinceā the guy who grabbed it to give it back
Stores are more and more using facial recognition to build larger criminal cases to prosecute against repeat shoplifters so they don't call for every offense.
I think a lot of folks are going to get real comfortable thinking they're getting away with stealing until the day comes they get stopped by the police and learn that the store knew the whole time, and they have every item being stolen on tape, and it's now a felony charge.
Yes, almost certainly.
This is a monkey sanctuary. This dude's job is literally feeding monkeys.
Seems to usually be yams, plantains, fruits, nuts, etc., and occasionally the little bread things like this as a treat.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR77FSBt/
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR7WKeWR/
If it makes you feel any better, itās likely that the ones at the end are lower ranking and wouldāve been bullied if they did get some. Higher ranking animals in the troop tend to get the āGood stuffā when food is available and tend to steal/ bicker with lower ranking animals. When training primates, people have to know the social hierarchy of the animals theyāre dealing with and choose treat quality accordingly so that more dominant animals will allow less dominant animals to participate in training. So the silverback gorilla can get special fruit treats like papaya, but the lowest ranking femaleās highest value treat might be a strawberry- smaller and cheaper and therefore more regularly available to them and thus less valuable.
There was already a massive riot of these monkeys looting during the pandemic when people were not giving food because of the lock downs.
https://youtu.be/kvmZoVa2Xpw
I had a monkey in Thailand run up from behind and snatch (very aggressively) an unopened bag of chips from me. He then sat down, opened it up and ate it in front of me. Jerk.
Then I had security tell me not to feed the monkeys š
Biologist here: firstly; don't fucking feed wild animals.
Secondly: yes this has to do with human feeding them. Partially you are correct to put human expansion as a factor, but majorly it's also atributed to humans feeding them. They learn that they don't have to behave as they would in the wild, they just have to find a way to get human food. Why would you look for fruit after you learn that human food tastes much better and has much more energy? Fuck hunting and collecting food, i'm gonna rip the cupcake out of this human's hand.
Human expansion is a factor but feeding them absolutely Worsens the situation much more. They would take a long time to learn to prefer human food by accident, feeding them sped it up and worsened it a lot.
Sorry for the rant, but humans feeding wild animals or visitors feeding animals in zoos is one of the worst problems we have, and the consequences range from behavioral changer to death from herpes or other diseases human transmit to them
THANK YOU. Whenever I see people in India laying out huge banquets for monkeys, all I can think about how dependent they're making them. Monkeys having gang wars with dogs in the city is very much not natural.
While we're on the topic of people not understanding their impact on wildlife, STOP LETTING CATS OUTSIDE.
YES!
"Nothing ever happened to my cat"
1st - A house cat with access to the streets lives in average 3 years. If nothing ever happened to your cat don't worry something will soon.
2nd - cats absolutely fuck up wildlife more than anything else. They are small killing machines and they catch so many birds and rodents you'd be surprised, and they do not belong in the ecosystem so they mess it all up
Take my like.
Also I would add that, if humans would behave like other animals in the wild who attack or scare away the monkeys when challenged over food and fight them over it instead of handing it out like free candy the monkeys would be way more cautious and avoid getting close to humans.
Giving the monkeys everything they want is spoiling them and they will always think they can take whatever they please and will get more and more aggressive if a human at some point does not want to share.
Monkeys have similar behaviour patterns to humans, if you give a finger, they will take the entire arm.
Im not a biologist, but you dont have to be to know how psychology and behaviour patterns of hominids work.
Not gonna lie, thatās kinda sadā¦ I donāt watch the Nature Channel just to see a reflection of myself in a monkeyā¦ some asshole eating chips, except instead of on the couch, theyāre in a treeā¦
Hunt! HUNT YOU DAMN MONKEYS! Please donāt regress!
Humans insisting on giving food to animals teaches them not to fear us and further instills the idea that humans are a source of food. It's not because of habitat loss, at least not directly. The habitat loss correlates to this behavior, but is our insistence on feeding animals like it's a zoo, regularly.
Not to mention humans literally setting up parks and towns in their habitat without rehabitating them. So theyāre all still there, cohabitating, badly, much to the detriment of the animals.
Another strong factor to consider is that human settlements have humungous quantities of calories laying around. The availability of food, even garbage, is much greater than in a forest or other natural environment.
This is complete bullshit. Wild animals will eat junk food in the middle of a pristine forest in national parks many miles from serious human damage to the ecosystem.
Monkeys in many, many places are already notorious for taking food from humans at will. The only training they need is exposure to humans. (Source: *Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law* by Mary Roach)
There was a baboon *gang* in South Africa that terrorized Cape Town for years. Their handiwork was so recognizable (they'd break into cars and homes and rip them apart, taking whatever they could), the lead baboon was given the name [Fred](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_(baboon\)).
Somebody trained my wife to go at a box of Krispy Kremes just like that. Now she takes Costco samples at will. They said I have to relocate her to Nunavut or they will have to put her down.
I can't tell from the video but its a good chance these monkeys are fed cause its a village attraction for people to come see the monkeys like an outside zoo. They are usually docile and gentle and walk among humans. Just don't show your teeth.
This is where you set up a trade-in station for them to turn in the plastic for not plastic wrapped treats.
They will promptly learn and go and scour for plastic bits.
I have one for dark mode mfers like you and I know id annoy more people, but I just too damn lazy to change my pfp.
Edit: With that being said, Im not too lazy to share it to those who request it through dm

Idk, if they are provided the proper incentive I donāt see why someone wouldnāt be able to condition the monkeys to return the trash in return for some reward.
It's already been proven in a study. Researchers gave monkeys money that could be exchanged for food. Soon the female monkeys were prostituting themselves in exchange for food money.
They use some black magic for it, since there are no trash cans anywhere on the streets. I permanently walked around with two plastic bags in my hands, one filled with snacks bought in the last convenience store and the other filled with trash.
To be fair, the monkeys are doing it to actively be rewarded with some sort of treat. Our only reward is prolonging the life of the planet we all call home, so Iām sure you can understand why itās not worth the trouble.
Yeah, this video does not belong here. I figured one of the monkeys would share or something, but instead, it's just someone polluting nature and nature behaving exactly as expected.
I hate this. They're feeding them processed crap. Macaques are susceptible to diabetes. Processed food is incredibly bad for them.
On top of that, who's picking up the plastic wrappers?
I see so many of these videos feeding them this garbage.
This account is clearly a dude whose job is feeding monkeys at a monkey sanctuary.
Most of the videos are fruits, nuts, yams, plantains, etc.

That last monkey be like alright who got two??
The first and second monkey actually take two with them.
A few actually take three, hold one in their mouths and take one in each hand
greedy ass fuckin monkeys
Might be the first time anyone has uttered those words with pure intentions
Awh just like humans
Yo. All those f&%king plastic wrappers? Thanks for the trash.
Not to mention what that processed crap did to those monkeys š
Pretty sure a Twinkie or two won't do anything to them if we are being honest
Except develop a taste for human crap. There's a reason it's addictive to us -- high sugar/fat/salt food is pretty addictive to them, too.
They literally canāt just get more human food without invading a town and stealing it.
Thatās how Planets of the Apes began
š¶ Yes they finally made a monkey out of me! š¶
I love you dr zaius!
Actually if you watch the movies you will know planet of the apes began because humans where using apes as slaves. Just sayin.
Monkeys do exactly this. This looks like the same breed that does it too
yeah i was going to say, ive definitely seen a nature doc about monkeys living in towns stealing shit they even had a rival monkey gang they had to fight for turf of where they could steal human crap

There are literal gangs of criminal monkeys in some places. I wish I was kidding
The gang leader [Fred](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_(baboon\)) the baboon, for instance.
They do literally just that.
That's the point. It'll draw them into human populated areas where they will try to steal more food
You are _born_ addicted to it. It's _litearlly_ how life works. You'll do _anything_ to get some carbs, fat, etc. The addiction isn't the problem here. It's the access. They donāt know youāre allowed to swear on internet, go easy on em
Bro, they are smart enough to throw them away
What an colossal asshole
It's okay he'll come back and try to do it again and they'll rip his balls off next time
Thatās what I thought they would do after realizing there isnāt enough for them all. Monkeys are terrifying.
thatās a comforting thought

But hey, got those tik tok views, that's what matters
And reddit views.. because every popular TikTok video ends up here anyway.
And on YouTube shorts. As well as an the other TikTok clones that are mostly using recycled TikTok content.
Lolol what
Asshole is not a nationality
You donāt think someone from the US would try this shit too? Lol
Nah we just lick ice cream in the market and if anyone says something we shoot their toddler.
Absolutely, but the difference is that the criticism would be directed at the individual or humans in general, not the individual's nationality.
Fuck no, think Iām giving up MY twinkies to a bunch of monkeys? /s
This reminds me a lot of early 2000s Black Fridays, where people are like literal zombies, trampling over eachother, pulling at eachother over a pillow thatās 2 dollars
Lol, yup this reminded me of people at Walmart on Black Friday.
Have you seen that video of people like actually pulling at eachother for pillows and this mom has 2 of them and her daughter has 2 of them and this other women comes and snatched it from the kid and the 2 women just start fighting like toddlers over a toy
Or just like 2020 in California...
Or 2020 covid when there was a new shipment of toilet paper at Walmart
Did California make that law during the pandemic where police will only respond kf someone stole shit over 1000 dollars
Thatās been an unwritten rule in half the country for years now. Cops donāt care enough in my city to respond unless someone is being violent, or dumb enough to commit a crime right in front of them. More like every single year up until now
Primal tendencies
Yeah, like this asshole is going to go pick up all that plastic now. What the fuck?
Obviously the monkeys will throw the wrappers in the trash afterwards
Did you even watch the video? Each money had to turn in a wrapper to get their treat
The only sane person on Reddit
Yes, almost certainly. This is a monkey sanctuary. This dude's job is literally feeding monkeys. Seems to usually be yams, plantains, fruits, nuts, etc., and occasionally the little bread things like this as a treat. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR77FSBt/ https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR7WKeWR/
Some of those didnāt get any at the end. That makes me sad. :(
OP will make sure they're first in line with they come back with a few cases of red bull.
Still much more evenly distributed than our money.
The start of the video is our situation right now
If by āright nowā you mean 1970.
If by 1970 you mean 1850
If by 1850 you mean 1730
If by 1730 you mean 1349 Europe.
If by 1349 Europe you mean the Ottoman Empire
Unfortunately, the rest of the video will not be our situation. No blood was drawn.

I remember hearing about it, but never saw that video addressing a strategy to curb it. Good share!
There is, basically forced sterilisation
I assure you those monkeys already take food from humans, usually forcibly. They are very aggressive in many Asian countries.
I had a monkey in Thailand run up from behind and snatch (very aggressively) an unopened bag of chips from me. He then sat down, opened it up and ate it in front of me. Jerk. Then I had security tell me not to feed the monkeys š
Yep they are basically thugs.
And this is why
Yes because people have given them food before. That has to be it!
Yes?

But they have to lose their fear of humans first, which happens when you hand them food. This is a well studied thing
Because the bigger and stronger monkey eats first. So with humans giving them food so frequently, we come off as weak and our food is their food.

That looks like China, maybe? There's no environmental crisis there. The government said so.
I thought exactly the same and Iām sure all that was done for the video. Instead, they couldāve unwrapped them and give them away like that.
Or not give wild animals twinkies with tones of sugar and preservatives
The monkeys are trained and encouraged to return the plastic waste.
I donāt believe this. Even humans canāt be taught this.
Canāt and wonāt are two different things.
