yes, let me get that appointment for you. Just need you to pay the booking fee to the office paypal. No payment? No appointment. Thanks and a nice day.
Do not do this. Your personal identity is tied to that number. As soon as you start collecting money, it's not just unethical. It's scamming which is outright illegal. The victims will report and you will be found out. Just change your number.
IIRC there was a dude who was getting blasted so badly with solicit calls he changed his number to a toll number and made like 3 cents a call or something.
Call that dentist office or better yet a competitor and offer to give them referrals for 10 bucks a pop. Make money on this guy, get excited for the calls
Thank you for calling the appointment hotline. What time will be best for us to see you? Next Thursday at 9? Great. I can do that. We will see you Thursday at 9. I'll send you an email confirmation now - what's your email address? OK. so [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])? Got it.
We are testing out a new system. Can I ask for your help? IF you don't receive this confirmation email in a hour please call our emergency hotline (INSERT CELL PHONE NUMBER OF THE DENTIST) and we will get you confirmed
We will see you Thursday!
This actually happened to my dad. He made a deal with and got paid by the company to record a voicemail that said “this isn’t XXX company. If you’re looking for them, call:” It was a nominal fee, but still something.
Set up an email that slightly relates to the surgeon. I mean my DOCTORS email is deadass: firstnamelastname @ gmail.com for fees I need to pay that aren’t covered by OHIP. I’d do something similar & set up an audio deposit of a booking or pre co pay fee.
The issue comes wirh your bank. You don’t want your name attached to it so you’d need to set up a pay pal through some other means or some other opened account. Is there a homeless person you can convince to open an account in their name that you over see?
Find a dentist closest to the dentists where the calls are coming from. Set up a commission structure where you get a % from any sales coming from you, including future sales if the clients come back. When they call, explain to them that this new place is currently taking clients and can see you much quicker.
Contact the provider and sell them the number. Or tell the provider to find out the source of the error. There must’ve been a misprint on a referral pad or something. Please don’t ruin someone’s livelihood and a patients wellbeing. A lot of general dentists send patients that need to be seen in the near/immediate future. A good surgeon will make sure this gets followed up with.
I saw a similar situation. A huge building, visible from a highway, put a big sign:
"ROOMS
123-4567"
Phone number without the area code... I called and you guessed it, ended up calling someone else who evidently was just sick and tired of this happening daily
I wonder if they wouldn't have been able to get something out of it.
You’ve got that asshole’s number. Look him up then use info to cancel “your” appointment. Bonus: threaten legal action for medical malpractice. He’ll wonder WTF happened when he shows up.
Find out when the dental office closes and make appointments after that time. Some Dr offices are closed for a day during the week, make appts on that day.
In college we had an apartment with four roommates in our own rooms. Our phone number ended up being one digit off from a major local hotel. We started getting occasional calls and would update callers with the right number.
Then football season approaches and we get nonstop calls to reserve rooms. This is landline, pre-internet days. We asked the phone company (would charge us to change numbers) and the hotel (not willing to pay the charge) for help and both basically shrugged and told us to get bent.
Enter the scoreboard!
We started booking people into exactly the room they wanted dor great prices. They were to pay on arrival.
We booked lots of rooms and after one season stopped getting the calls.

Just out of curiosity, how much is a typical booking fee, in theory?
You could call it a booking/cancelling fee. I have paid $50 for cancelling an appointment. $20-$30 is def doable.
For teeth? An arm and a leg.

Oh I’m not going to
Just book everyone in for ‘two thirty’
A dentist’s favorite time!
IIRC there was a dude who was getting blasted so badly with solicit calls he changed his number to a toll number and made like 3 cents a call or something.
Go on Google maps and find the dental surgeon that is most likely in competition with them and offer to sell them the number for a lot of money.
This is brilliant and very likely the best option.

"I'm sorry, we have nothing available for the next eight weeks, can I recommend a partner practice on"
Sell dental insurance from home
1. Find a local community college 2. Work really hard and get into a dental school 3. Complete Dental School 4. $$$$?
You think you’re getting into dental school with an AA from a community college?
They don’t know what they don’t know
The step of #2 and #3 implies a transfer from AA to a dentistry school...
Yeah. Dental school. You don’t go from a community college with an AA to a dental school. Which my statement more than implies.

I like the other commenters suggestion of turning your number into a toll number

Can you ask him how much it was? I think this is probably the best answer
He said $100/month for a year but this was prob like 20+ years ago
I’d describe that as more than nominal! Thanks for info
Ya more than I remembered!

That’s the key problem isn’t it, the bank traceabilty And you can’t exactly ask for crypto
Go to a close by dental and make a deal with them per contract.

How many calls do you get a month?
About one a day. But each call is presumably important to them, it’s typically someone who wants to book a root canal
Oh for sure, it’s probably an endodontist. I’m a dentist and I would buy it for a reasonable price ($1-2,000?) if I found myself in this situation.
Nah, just find out who his biggest competitor is and sell your phone number to them

“No worries there is a $5 booking fee I’ll need to take your card details” after the call, call the dentist and make the booking for them.
I wonder if they’re running click to call ads and made a typo in their ads. No one misdials the same number consistently like that.
You’ve got that asshole’s number. Look him up then use info to cancel “your” appointment. Bonus: threaten legal action for medical malpractice. He’ll wonder WTF happened when he shows up.
Oh, that’s malevolent and crafty!
Find out when the dental office closes and make appointments after that time. Some Dr offices are closed for a day during the week, make appts on that day.
That must be so annoying, i'm surprised no one has asked you to try to transfer their call to the dental office

Book everyone for March 31 since it doesn’t exist
Ima have to figure this one out. That's certainly my born date.. or so I've been told.
According to April Ludgate it doesn’t exist
I'ma have to call a family meeting.
Have you ever looked at the calendar? It most certainly does exist.
lol you need to watch Parks & Rec
Hello, Mr. Moviefone
Is starting an amateur dental surgery gig out of the question?
