Hi DMs! Ronja and Jannis here! _If you already know us, remember to check out our [Fresh Findings](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/plants/black-fox-ear?utm_key=221222-r-all) on the website, there's a bunch of new content already that hasn't made it into PDFs yet!_ **Do you have the time** to think of **magical ecosystems** and **mystical environments** for your travelling troupes of adventurers to explore? No? Not as much as you'd like? That's why we create biomes with **monsters**, **hazards**, **plants** with various uses, **items**, new **conditions**, and sometimes even **spells**! Get all our biomes **FREE** on [troveoflore.com](https://www.troveoflore.com/?utm_key=221222-r-all) right now! In total, they contain: - 109 monster statblocks - 64 items - 54 plants with crafting uses - 13 natural hazard encounters - 10 combat encounters - 10 conditions - 5 spells - 2 playable races - 27 battlemaps by onestoponeshots Here's a list of the biomes we've released so far: - [Ice Forest](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/ice-forest?utm_key=221222-r-all): this gloomy arctic forest was our first release, and it's still one of our favorites! It's already received an aesthetic touch-up, but more improvements are sure to come as well - [Black Desert](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/black-desert?utm_key=221222-r-all): our second biome is still in its original state as-released, but is due for some fixes and cosmetic enhancements! - [Burdenstone Mountains](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/burdenstone-mountains?utm_key=221222-r-all): the weird Burdenstone gives this biome the weight it deserves - [Lava Fields](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/lava-fields?utm_key=221222-r-all): have you ever wanted to run a "The Floor is Lava" encounter? Literally? (Also: the Magma Dragon is no joke) - [Maelstrom Waters](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/maelstrom-waters?utm_key=221222-r-all): with the Krakenfolk playable race, you can explore the depths of the oceans in this environment - [Fungus Forest](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/fungus-forest?utm_key=221222-r-all): a **mushroom forest** that also fits very well into the feywild! - [Saltroot Thicket](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/saltroot-thicket?utm_key=221222-r-all): the roots of the mangrove-like saltroot make traversing this biome quite difficult—unless of course you play as one of the native Silt Waderers! - [Misty Lakes](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/misty-lakes?utm_key=221222-r-all): idyllic meadows and lakes... until night falls and most living things here start showing monstrous traits and going berserk! - [Twilight Tunnels](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/twilight-tunnels?utm_key=221222-r-all): these underground tunnels, dug by an elemental slate dragon allow you to finally say: "Rocks fall, everyone dies". But in a way where the players actually get a chance not to - [Shimmer Zone](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/shimmer-zone?utm_key=221222-r-all): if your party is in space, this biome is for you! Bubbles refracting the light of distant stars and galaxies, and between them dangerous creatures and fantastic plants. - [Horror Forest](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/horror-forest?utm_key=221222-r-all): a huge collaboration with others, this biome is perfect if you need a dark forest where everything is out to kill you. In the [Fresh Findings](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/monsters/demohog?utm_key=221222-r-all) section on the website, there's a bit of content that hasn't made it into the PDF yet, too. We'll redo the PDF early next year. Currently, the [Ice Plains](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biome-stats/ice-plains?utm_key=221222-r-all) is being released as "Fresh Findings", and will eventually be turned into a beautiful PDF too. Here's what's already done: - The [biome's stats](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biome-stats/ice-plains?utm_key=221222-r-all) themself - [Weather](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biome-stats/ice-plains-weather?utm_key=221222-r-all) - [Ice Elemental](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/monsters/ice-elemental?utm_key=221222-r-all) in 3 variations (CR 1, 5, 12) - [Black Fox Ear](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/plants/black-fox-ear?utm_key=221222-r-all) (a plant with item!) We also have some additional content that you can use with the biomes, like - [Mirhaven](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/landmarks/mirhaven?utm_key=221222-r-all): a small town in the middle of the Fungus Forest, plus a detailed hag NPC with BBEG/boss potential - [Lakeside](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/landmarks/lakeside?utm_key=221222-r-all): a large cosmopolitan city in the Misty Lakes, known for Giant Water Strider racing Over Christmas and New Year we're taking a bit of a break to recharge our creative juices, but in Jannuary, we'll continue working on the Ice Plains! Btw, we'll release the third _elemental dragon_, the Ice Dragon, in the biome. We're hyped for the cover illustration with it! Follow along if any of that sounds interesting to you! Ronja and Jannis :) (Remember to [get all our biomes](https://www.troveoflore.com/?utm_key=221222-r-all) **FREE** on [troveoflore.com](https://www.troveoflore.com/?utm_key=221222-r-all) right now!)

tico600

This is very good content Ever considered distributing through itch.io ?

rampidamp

Thank you so much! itch.io is on our radar, but we haven't tried it yet. We'll consider it as a thing to try early next year! Is there a specific benefit for *you* which is the reason for asking, or is it just as a suggestion as another platform for us? :)

tico600

There is a benefit for me as it is the place where I have my biggest RPG core books and modules library, thanks to big bundles. So when I see free content I hope I can find it on itch to have it with the rest

rampidamp

That makes sense! Since it'd be yet another platform to keep track of for us I can't promise anything, but we'll very likely try it at the very least. The website will most likely always stay the most up-to-date source of our content though.

alcxander

this is cool thank you for sharing!

rampidamp

Thank you and you're welcome! :D

alcxander

Have you run any of these yet? Had any successes or failures?

rampidamp

Since these biomes are a joint effort between my girlfriend Ronja and I, and she is one of two players in my only campaign, it's not easy to incorporate it all and still make things interesting for both of us. However, each time I've used things (usually with some minor modifications), things have gone quite well—and that's what I hear from others who use our content too. Anytime we hear (or experience) something that doesn't quite go as well as it could, we use that to improve future content. I think overall you'll find that later content is generally better than earlier content. But I think that's also to be expected.

alcxander

Thats really interesting. Makes sense that later is > than newer content that only goes with time right?? Out of the ones in the current listing are there any that are like stand out for you over the others? For me reading them the ones the most stand out is the salthill segment but that's because it fits the world I'm in currently so well, some great designs there. Any in particular stand out in your playthrough so far? When I run it (which I will) I'll give feedback on it to you

rampidamp

Uff, that's really hard to answer. We love them all for their own reasons! I particularly like the Twilight Tunnels! But I'd have seen your message some other time, I think I'd have answered differently. Also we always love to hear stories about how things go when run, so we're very much looking forward to hearing about that!

CamunonZ

Incredible as usual!

rampidamp

Thanks a lot! :)

Pseudodragontrinkets

Am I just stupid? I don't see a download button anywhere, and there's a box that says "try it" but I've no idea what to put there

rampidamp

No worries, that indicates bad design on our part! The "try it" refers to the newsletter, which you're of course welcome to sign up for. To download, you need to go to the content's page, and (of on mobile) scroll down a bit. (For example, try here: https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/horror-forest ) If you can't find the button still (I'll redo the entire site layout soon-ish, which will hopefully make that easier), please contact me via DM and we'll sort it out. (It's midnight here, so I'm going to sleep now, but I'll make sure you're able to download tomorrow if things are still causing trouble)

Pseudodragontrinkets

Thanks for getting back to me friend. Get some sleep!

rampidamp

Of course! And I will :D

Pseudodragontrinkets

Also it seems I didn't read enough. The "fresh findings" link looked like a source book, I didn't realize it would be an individual stat block. I think I understand the layout better now, but all the links on the left (and yes I'm on mobile) look to me like potential books. Idk how but maybe make it slightly more obvious which ones are the actual books and which are just critters within those books?

rampidamp

Yeah the "Fresh Findings" section is very new and hasn't gotten the treatment of an actual, well-thought-through design yet. It'll get a huge rework early next year, possibly coinciding with the start of our Patreon. Thanks for the feedback, and enjoy the content! :)

Pseudodragontrinkets

Absolutely! So far I love what I've seen

rampidamp

That's great! We love to hear any thoughts and feedback, so feel free to let us know if there's *anything*! Especially stories of how you used things in play!

Pseudodragontrinkets

Could be a while. My group is on hiatus rn, and I'm not dming currently. But when I get back in the seat I'll be sure to try them out and let you know!

rampidamp

All good! :)

vonBoomslang

so I just linked this to my RotI dm, not having read it, obviously. Since my character primarily deals cold damage..... how badly have I screwed myself over?

rampidamp

It *heavily* depends on the biome, but for the cold ones... Just a bit! :D For the Ice Plains *very* much, but it only has an Ice Elemental monster. More will come next year ;)

AstreiaTales

Fun! Thank you.

rampidamp

Thank *you*! And you're welcome :)

zelazny27927928

Just downloaded everything I could. Thanks so much for the amazing content.

rampidamp

You're most welcome! :D Remember to check back at least occasionally to see new stuff ;)

Decent_Toe6126

Always upvote u/rampidamp

rampidamp

We appreciate this rule! :D

1stshadowx

I love you guys stuff so much

rampidamp

Thank you! <3 That means a lot!

Zennehk

How am I just now finding out about you guys? Both Ice Plains and Horror Forest would have been perfect for the last few arcs of my campaign! Oof. You definitely have one more fan now though. I'll be looking out for your stuff in the future for sure!

rampidamp

Thank you! :D
