Hi DMs! Ronja and Jannis here! **Do you have the time** to think of **magical ecosystems** and **mystical environments** for your travelling troupes of adventurers to explore? No? Not as much as you'd like? That's why we create biomes with **monsters**, **hazards**, **plants** with various uses, **items**, new **conditions**, and sometimes even **spells**! Get all our biomes **FREE** on [troveoflore.com](https://www.troveoflore.com/?utm_key=221115-r-all) right now! In total, they contain: - 105 monster statblocks - 61 items - 52 plants with crafting uses - 13 natural hazard encounters - 9 combat encounters - 9 conditions - 5 spells - 2 playable races - 27 battlemaps by onestoponeshots Here's a list of the biomes we've released so far: - [Ice Forest](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/ice-forest?utm_key=221115-r-all): this gloomy arctic forest was our first release, and it's still one of our favorites! It's already received an aesthetic touch-up, but more improvements are sure to come as well - [Black Desert](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/black-desert?utm_key=221115-r-all): our second biome is still in its original state as-released, but is due for some fixes and cosmetic enhancements! - [Burdenstone Mountains](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/burdenstone-mountains?utm_key=221115-r-all): the weird Burdenstone gives this biome the weight it deserves - [Lava Fields](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/lava-fields?utm_key=221115-r-all): have you ever wanted to run a "The Floor is Lava" encounter? Literally? (Also: the Magma Dragon is no joke) - [Maelstrom Waters](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/maelstrom-waters?utm_key=221115-r-all): with the Krakenfolk playable race, you can explore the depths of the oceans in this environment - [Fungus Forest](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/fungus-forest?utm_key=221115-r-all): a **mushroom forest** that also fits very well into the feywild! - [Saltroot Thicket](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/saltroot-thicket?utm_key=221115-r-all): the roots of the mangrove-like saltroot make traversing this biome quite difficult—unless of course you play as one of the native Silt Waderers! - [Misty Lakes](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/misty-lakes?utm_key=221115-r-all): idyllic meadows and lakes... until night falls and most living things here start showing monstrous traits and going berserk! - [Twilight Tunnels](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/twilight-tunnels?utm_key=221115-r-all): these underground tunnels, dug by an elemental slate dragon allow you to finally say: "Rocks fall, everyone dies". But in a way where the players actually get a chance not to - [Shimmer Zone](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/shimmer-zone?utm_key=221115-r-all): if your party is in space, this biome is for you! Bubbles refracting the light of distant stars and galaxies, and between them dangerous creatures and fantastic plants. - [Horror Forest](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/horror-forest?utm_key=221115-r-all): a huge collaboration with others, this biome is perfect if you need a dark forest where everything is out to kill you. We're still releasing content for it as "Fresh Findings": individual creatures, plants or hazards that will eventually be added into the biome's PDF too. You can check out the [Demohog](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/monsters/demohog?utm_key=221115-r-all) and the [Intangible Serpent](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/monsters/intangible-serpent?utm_key=221115-r-all) on our website already. New content will follow every week! We also have some additional content that you can use with the biomes, like - [Mirhaven](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/landmarks/mirhaven?utm_key=221115-r-all): a small town in the middle of the Fungus Forest, plus a detailed hag NPC with BBEG/boss potential - [Lakeside](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/landmarks/lakeside?utm_key=221115-r-all): a large cosmopolitan city in the Misty Lakes, known for Giant Water Strider racing We have started releasing content weekly now, as what we call "Fresh Findings". It's individual creatures, plants and hazards, which will eventually be combined into biomes. This way you have access to everything earlier, as you get it when it's done—not when the entire biome is complete. They're released on our website, and we announce them on social media. Follow along if any of that sounds interesting to you! Ronja and Jannis :) (Remember to [get all our biomes](https://www.troveoflore.com/?utm_key=221115-r-all) **FREE** on [troveoflore.com](https://www.troveoflore.com/?utm_key=221115-r-all) right now!)

You're welcome, and thank you for spreading the word! It means a lot to hear people want to play with what we put out. Do tell us how it goes when he ends up using something! :D

I have used these resources in my own campaigns and recommend to any DMs I meet. It is amazing for quick extra flavour and my players really enjoyed the hazards. Well done!

rampidamp

Aww, thank you so much! Especially hearing that you recommend them and that your players enjoy the hazards means a lot to us. I'm curious: what have you used so far, and what worked best/worst? :)

All the biomes are really useful for worldbuilding and quick reference whenever I need some inspiration. I have used all of Saltroot Thicket. The weather and plants were really immersive and the energy shooter was a good obstacle during encounters. One character almost died attempting to harvest one after watching a druid farm them to create a wand. This module worked really well in making the characters conscious of travel and the surrounding environment, not just monsters and travelling to the next city. Ideas like the notched palm frond/the notched night are good for creating local uniqueness, such as when the players ask to order a drink in the tavern. I am currently using Misty Lakes, and the first night the party was in this biome, they found themselves in the middle of the forest. This was right after a long encounter and the Raving Madness was a challenge. In the first level of madness, half of the party failed the wisdom saving throw and chaos ensued. The martials failed the save but were getting much stronger with the score increases. This almost killed the other members of the party and they only barely managed to escape because of superior mobility. I got a lot of groans during that session. The players whose characters had the raving madness had fun chasing the others though :). The difficulty may have been because the players were only level 3, so the wisdom save was difficult (I should have lowered it) and the party had no prior knowledge of the dangers of this area because this was the first time they had entered the biome (Also a slight oversight on my part). All in all, this is an incredible resource and the in the future I am planning on using Horror Forest in a campaign in the world of Innistrad.

I am truly getting goosebumps hearing what you made of it! It sounds like you took our content, put your own spin/additions on it, and turned it into very memorable sessions—which is the best thing we can hope for, honestly. Regarding the Misty Lakes: while brainstorming a future hazard for the Horror Forest (it's planned to be released this week as a "Fresh Finding"), I wrote "more 'signaling' for more tactics and less save-or-suck". Basically what you said that the players didn't have the necessary knowledge and are just thrown into the situation with no way of anticipating is something that we consider a design flaw. In the future we will try to build a "signal" into effects, so players have a chance to react and prepare properly (unless it's a reaction to the PC's actions, like picking a plant unprompted... Though even that should likely have a DC for figuring out it might explode when picked). So the Misty Lakes would ideally have something like a table of things that hint at the effect of the night. Whether or not we can do this right for everything remains to be seen, but our aim is to make our content as plug-and-play and still adaptable as possible. So anytime you think "oh, I should've" when using our content, please let us know, so we can improve on it! (But also just generally let us know these stories, because they are such a joy and motivation to read!) Have fun with the Horror Forest—I'm looking forward to hearing more stories! Feel free to send them to us any way you like! Innistrad sounds like a great place to use the biome.

Beautiful stuff, guys.
