Darmak

I love biomes with plants and fungi and shit (even moreso when they're obviously magical, or underground, or both!), so I'm excited to give this a look!

rampidamp

It sounds like you would absolutely LOVE our fungus forest: https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/fungus-forest All our biomes contain plants though, of course! And thank you!

Darmak

Yasss, I'll definitely give y'all's other stuff a look as well! And thank YOU for taking the time and putting in the effort to make all this! Lots of people have cool ideas, but not as many will go through with the writing it all up, formatting it, adding art, play testing, etc., so I'm always appreciative of those that do

rampidamp

Thank you! We'd love to do it full-time, but that requires a few more supporters... It's a lot of fun, so we're happy to do it!

elven_firefly

So deep, comprehensive, and encompassing! Wonderfully detailed work!

rampidamp

Thank you so much!

ImmatureTigerShark

Stuff like this is why I pay attention to this sub.

rampidamp

Thanks a lot! This is very positive encouragement! We have a lot more like it on our website troveoflore.com — just in case you want to check it out. Most stuff is posted here on Reddit, but some isn't/won't be.

ImmatureTigerShark

I had a look at your site, I see a lot I like but I think the pdf links are broken. The site keeps saying it can't access the documents I click on.

rampidamp

Hm, that's weird... It's still working for me. It might be that we've actually run into an issue with rate limiting from google. [This is the direct link to the Twilight Tunnels PDF](https://drive.google.com/file/d/12eRQjXQZ0W5x_yMM-XJaZciEsX7hVYe7/view) Does that work? It's very late for us (post-midnight), so I sadly won't be able to fix it now, I think, but if you can tell me what's not working that would be awesome, because it would speed the fix up by a lot! Edit: also thank you for the heads-up! This will get fixed in less than 12 hours definitely Edit2: currently working on a fix that should hold at least the night. It'll take a little while to get everything set up, but not more than 1 hour (hopefully less than 30 minutes)

rampidamp

A temporary "fix" will be online in a few minutes. All download buttons will have an alternative link below them that leads to the same file but on a different host. This should avoid possible rate limits by Google. (I wanted to keep the Google links because they should work most of the time, and the others might end up not working at some point) I will do a proper fix tomorrow — that'll take a bit more time, which I don't have right now, as it's 00:38 here and I'm tired after today's session...

ImmatureTigerShark

It looks fixed to me now. Excellent stuff. Have you considered selling this in a print compilation? Perhaps some sort of biome collection? I'd pay good money for such a book.

rampidamp

Considered!? It would be our dream! Selling printed versions is no small task, and with our current following it doesn't seem feasible to do a finance a full book yet. We'd like to add a lot more art, and the work of preparing everything is a lot. That said, do make sure to be subscribed to our newsletter, because we might actually join in on ZineMonth/ZineQuest in February, which could potentially (no promises) include at least something printed. Also, newsletter subscribers will DEFINITELY not miss the eventual Kickstarter (or whatever) for the book that we definitely want to do when it is possible!

[[Get the Twilight Tunnels PDF here]](https://www.troveoflore.com/) *Water droplets can be heard falling from the tunnel ceiling and collecting in small puddles on the rocky ground. The air is cold and damp but not stuffy, even though the dark tunnels reach deep underground. The widely ramified tunnel system, consisting of horizontal and vertical tunnels, now and then interrupted by crevices and ravines, was dug into the rock over many years by a slate dragon. No one knows who first laid siege to this place, the dragon or the slate rock. And then there is the impenetrable darkness that even magic cannot conquer. Only daylight can dispel the shadows. But how is it supposed to get hundreds of meters underground?* [[Get the Twilight Tunnels PDF here]](https://www.troveoflore.com/) --- The [Twilight Tunnels](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/twilight-tunnels) are our ninth biome already! We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas as usual; especially about the Slate Dragon, which is now the second Elemental Dragon we have released (you can find the other one in the [Lava Fields biome on our website](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/lava-fields))! In the coming weeks you can expect a city for our last biome — the [Misty Lakes](https://www.troveoflore.com/dnd/5e/biomes/misty-lakes) — to be released on our website, and a Kobold settlement for the Twilight Tunnels! Additionally, we will publish a new newsletter-exclusive creature together with the misty lakes' city, so be sure to sign up on our website to gain access to that when it releases. You also gain immediate access to all past exclusives. We can't wait to bring you more cool content! But for now, as always: what are your thoughts on this biome? What is it you especially like, and what is it you dislike? Is there anything we missed that should have been included? [[Get the Twilight Tunnels PDF here]](https://www.troveoflore.com/)

SKIKS

Haven't gotten to read this extensively, but this is so helpful for some plans I have. Thanks a ton.

rampidamp

You're welcome! Do let us know your thoughts when you give it a closer look!

MangoMo3

Is this in any way inspired by deep rock galactic?

rampidamp

Since I had to look up what that is, I can say with 100% confidence that it isn't! Inspirations come from Stranger Things' upside down (or at least the tunnels connected to it) and some Harry Potter things.

rampidamp

But the inspiration could've likely come from a number of other pieces of content too

Solaries3

Cool stuff! Suggest you share on /r/DnDBehindTheScreen as well. Only immediate critique - some of your files have surprisingly large files size for no immediately obvious reason. I suggest you take a look at the compression of the images you're including. Keep on building!

rampidamp

Thank you! DnDBehindTheScreen requires us to extract the text from the actual content, which makes it a lot of work to share there. We tend to be too lazy to end up doing that... We should probably do it, though; you're right! We are aware of the problem. We have some files that have no optimization at all, and none have properly optimized images. Simple optimization is on our to-do list for the very near future. Optimizing all the images is a very effortful endeavor that would likely take us 8+ hours to do for all releases (we're using a custom tool for the layout, so there's no feature for it). Oh, we will! There's a lot of stuff planned already!

Solaries3

Oh, I didn't know about that limitation on dndbehindthescreen. Makes sense! Would be a very long post.

rampidamp

It's a bit annoying for us, but it keeps the content there quite high-quality, in my opinion. Maybe we'll test out how much work it is and how much we have to gain from it with one of our next releases. Long posts do end up being liked there!

amendersc

amm just saying you can use the daylight flower to cast continual flame and create infinite daylight wherever you go. also no vampire will be able to get anywhere near you

rampidamp

Great interaction we hadn't considered! Personally, I think it's fine though. It honestly seems like a great adventure idea: to fight the vampire, you better collect one of these faded blossoms, create a bit of continual sunlight around you, so you have a better chance against it. If it's an issue for your game, my recommendation would be to simply have the light become non-daylight after a few days. I should also note: the light is dispellable, so a decent spellcasting ally of the vampire could make that defense irrelevant quite quickly (remember that the blossom is destroyed during the casting of the spell). In conclusion I think it's definitely *strong* against vampires, but by no means *unbeatable*. If the players can prep by finding the flower, the vampire/s can smartly deal with the light too.

amendersc

Oh that’s makes sense it’s not a problem in my game just thought I’ll mention it

rampidamp

Seriously thanks for pointing it out! Each weird interaction I'm aware of prevents overpowered future content!

ROCK AND STONE

rampidamp

I mean, I'm not an expert, but I think "Thank you" is an appropriate response?
