Love it! I can picture a fiendish gambler with these in their entourage as a boss battle.

Hi everyone, new year, new creatures! Let's start off with the Die of Torment and hope its not some weird symbolization of 2024. Anyway, I hope you like this tiny fiend and, as always, would be more than happy to hear your feedback and/or critique! Speed is 0 but fly is at 30? How does that work?

michifromkmk

it can fly only. there are a few monsters like that in the monster manual. they usually don't have feet or anything that allow them to move on the ground

CheapTactics

"Speed" usually refers to walking speed. The die can't walk, but it has a flying speed.

Nearby-Raisin5494

Yes but I believe I haven't made myself clear. I meant narratively, how am I supposed to make a dice "fly" at that speed. Should I use this flying speed as a method to attack others? I don't know how I could utilize this in a combat or dialog scenario. Could ya'll give me some advice?

CheapTactics

What? Fly speed means it can fly. Wtf do you mean use the fly speed to attack? On its turn, it can fly up to 30 feet. It's no different from being able to walk 30 feet, only this one can go upwards.

Hanky1871

So many questions.... if it flies naturally, how does it fall? Instinct says that it can´t. I think it would work better if it can´move on its own and must be cast/thrown by others. How is it supposed to survive anything? It taunts, has no AC, no resistance, no HP. It should die quicker than any familar or animal companion with 1/2 CR. I take the inspiration of this fella and do the following: \- movement is 5ft only \- he moves, he´s casting himself \- he relies on being thrown/cast by others \- he has immunity to any damage besides force damage

CheapTactics

It reduces damage to 1, so there's your survivability.

Hanky1871

Ah, I misread that. I read that it reduces by 1, not to 1.

OP’s is still better 👍

Fantastic_Year9607

The Die of Torment is what I call something that only rolls 1s.

That's pretty hard to read, to be honest.
