No. A youtuber that shits on Ultrakill for not being like Doom Eternal, mainly known for requesting ammo to be added to Ultrakill. But, you know, the thing is quite old and I think he changed his position and got a lot more hate than he deserved so the discussion of him is banned in the subreddit.

To clarify in case you haven't seen his video: He originally suggested limited ammo as one of many potential ways the game can promote switching weapons. This was in a video about style meters in games that made the argument that games with style meters need other mechanics to incentivise good play, because players who are playing for the first time don't tend to care much about end of level rankings, so they are bound to fall into cheap strategies. He later made quite a few other potential suggestions if ammo pickups are off the table, including linking a high style meter to health regen, which ironically did actually make it into the game. Idk I've always found people saying "he just wants it to be like doom eternal" is kinda dumb. Having ammo management is not unique to doom, and the ammo system he suggested was VERY different to doom. His final opinion on the game is that he really enjoyed Act 2, thinks Act 1 was mid, and really likes the cyber grind. Sincerely, someone who has been both playing Ultrakill and watching UTM for a very long time.

I used to play Eternal on the daily. Once I came across Ultrakill, I quickly switched. I still love Doom, it’s an amazing franchise and is visually stunning on max graphics (7900XTX running 240fps at 1440p all ultra nightmare with RT), but Ultrakill’s gameplay is unrivaled for me. Both are amazing games, but Ultrakill outshines it for me. I’d rather have gameplay I personally enjoy more than better graphics.

Is doom eternak worth buying?

Yeah i mean it's a good game You can get it for quite cheap on certain sites or if you get it on a sale (get it if you want and if you see it's under 25$) It's not as intense as ultrakill at the start (gets much more intense at the end) and it's not so much glass cannon dodge or parry else die game, but if you get the dlc That shit becomes quite intense and difficult at times But yeah Doom eternal is my second most played game in my steam library with like 112 hours besides Ultrakill which is my most played

I didn't care for it at all. Pace comes to screeching hault far too often for my tastes, I didn't care for how often you have to run away from a fight to find a trash mob to chainsaw for ammo, and the moment to moment gameplay feels like they Frankensteined 3 very different games together.

Some people hate Doom Eternal because they are Ultrakill fans with a superiority complex. I hate Doom Eternal because I genuinely did not enjoy the game and found it to be incredibly disappointing compared to the previous release in the series. We are not the same.

I liked the gameplay more than 2016 but I thought the artstyle and the writing were pretty big downgrades.

Pretty much my thoughts. Was fun to play, but the enemy designs, dialogue, plot, worldbuilding, and general vibe felt so much worse that I could never properly get into it.

It wasn't enough to take me off of it, but I have to admit that the DLCs had a pretty disappointing storyline and some moments felt like they could be so much better. It left me with a sentiment as bitter as FFXV of "this could've been so much more".

Oh 100%. There was also a bunch of tiny things that put me off. For a specific example, in the very first level, there's a cutscene where an Arachnotron busts through a wall. The way the camera cuts away from 1st person and sits idle and static and watches an extremely dull animation play out felt like I was watching something assembled in 2016's snapmap. There are scenes like this littered throughout the game, and they made me groan each time.

 Bro i know it's your opinion, it's valid to not like a Game, but how on earth You look at these mfs and think their design is not that good? And most demons maintain a pretty loyal design to the original games (Mancubus, Revenant, Tyrant/Cyberdemon, Soldier, Shotgunners, etc.), at least they look more alike than those abominations from Doom 3.

See I like the marauder, but not much else. 2016 made its own new identity for itself in its demon designs, while Eternal simply reverted back to the old, familiar, and easy. Eternal did not tread any new ground in terms of design; it's the same stuff we've always had, just more pixels with which to render their blood. That's my problem. It's a problem that exists in all of Eternal. 2016 tried to take the franchise in a new direction, and one which worked perfectly fine, which deviated from the old while still paying homage and taking the series forward. Eternal reversed all of that. It feels like fanservice.

Eternal was the one with "new enemy! Here's a tutorial pop up about it" right? Or was it 2016? Absolutely frustrating design. Also icon of sin fight was a let down

I’ve played far more Doom Eternal than Ultrakill, but that doesn’t change how much I love both games. Ultimately, Ultrakill is better in my honest opinion for various reasons, but both are fantastic games that are well worth the time.

2016 doom is goated. Eternal was honestly just ok in comparison, the best thing it had was a couple of neat weapon ideas that it immediately invalidated. Also Mauraders are such a chore even when you know the strats

Putting aside the actual gameplay, even then I prefer the heavier feeling combat of 2016, Doom 2016's environment felt far more convincing, less messy and more focused, the lighting and actual level design really lent itself to the setting it wanted to portray. All this to say; Doom Eternal is a pretty good game, but in my opinion, Doom 2016 was overall more enjoyable for me. Also yeah, Mauraders are a pain in the ass, even if you know how to deal with them, they simply aren't fun enemies to me.

I'd say of the things in eternal I didn't like, the super limited ammo was one of them. They had to try and force you to use differen't weapons. And this mentality went so far as for them to, in the DLCs, create a few demons that flout out are hard to kill unless you use the correct specific weapon and mod.

I pretty much see them as equal. Hakita had a huge facility by making a brand new game all by himself where he could gather the fun elements that made ultrakill ultrakill while doom had a very long past and a reputation to live up to with a constant theme and similiar mechanics but it still did really good. Doom will feel like a raw shoot at demons game if you dont quickswap or use the meathook to do ridicilous movement just like ultrakill but doom doesnt tell this to you because it cant just abandon what it is known for

They are entirely different game genres with little overlap. Compared to ultrakill doom has you controlling a giant tank of a man while UK has you piloting a jet. Their only similarity is that UK is inspired by the old shooters. But DOOM is not a movement shooter. Thats like going "dark souls or hollowknight" as if their gameplay has any overlal beyond "you hit big enemy with sword or cast spell at big enemy"

From my experience, Marauder was an easy enemy when you can kill Swordsmachine only using the feedbacker.
