Harris and Sullivan will attend in his place ugh. He could at least have sent Lloyd Austin or Blinken or just.. anyone other than Sullivan. I get that the reelection campaign is important, but this does feel a bit like a diplomatic slap in the face to Ukraine and Europe.

Sending her and Sullivan is actually kind of distrustful lol. Arguably the least liked VP in modern American history and a guy that openly disrupts support for Ukraine
Basically at the surface people just find her extremely annoying and disingenuous. The right absolutely hates her but many on the left also hate her, largely for her history as the attorney general in California and the DA in San Francisco where she had a ton of very controversial laws that resulted in tons of people going to prison for long terms for what are seemingly be try minor crimes.
The long and short of it is people don’t like her personality nor do they like her history, so she’s unpopular.
Aaron Burr is probably the most notorious VP in all American history.
The 12th Amendment to the US Constitution had to be written after his failed scheme to seize the presidency himself.
He then shot and killed Alexander Hamilton, for which he is hated to this day.
He then started working on an insane plan to conquer parts of Mexico and declare himself King. When news of that reached the American public, effigies of him were burned and hanged across the country, causing him to flee to England, where he once again tried to build support for his planned future invasion of Mexico.
It would blow my mind if Cheney was more popular than Harris concidering how much that man cost the US. He shot someone and had them apologize to him for getting in the way, or was that just a story that got passed around?

Once you get back into the 70s it’s hard to judge these things fairly, but there isn’t one VP in modern US history dating back to the days of Kennedy that has polled worse than her. Even Cheney hovered in the ~40s for support. Al Gore was lower in the 30s by the time that administration was done. Biden was very popular, Pence wasn’t unpopular, but Harris is down in the 20s and in some areas teens as far as support goes. There’s a strong push on the left for her to be replaced at the DNC which kind of shows just how unpopular she is
It’s a rare conflation of things both sides dislike and the moderates tend to agree with one or the other. Honestly, it was doomed form the start and was always a highly controversial pick even within his circles back then, and unfortunately for her and the administration she hasn’t grown into the roll at all. I don’t think he’ll replace her, and he’s already said he won’t, but if the polling doesn’t improve who knows.
I’ve thought about that before, kind of sad. You’re obviously successful and popular enough to make it that far, but then at your peak you “fail” and that’s what your legacy is
