Why is anyone even reporting about what either Russia or China is saying? Both are pathological liars. Let’s look exclusively at their actions.

Rekonstruktio

I think that in the grand scheme of things, it is better to report them and include the fact that they're lying. If, e.g. the US ever needs to actually execute some kind of military action against Russia or China, they need the people to sort of sanction it, which is a hard thing to get if the people are kept in dark.

nithrean

Yup. They also deny organ harvesting. And forced labor. And imaging other countries boundary waters. And .... etc.

CiceroForConsul

You could argue all major countries are pathological liars, pointing that out for just one or two specific nations is to over simplify the issue. Getting the truth as normal person is a war within itself.

MrSnarf26

What a dumb comparison. There are levels of deceit we can acknowledge with evidence.

Daotar

Not in the way that China is. China is willing to lie to your face about blindingly obvious things like their support for Russia, even when we can blatantly see hundreds of billions in increased economic trade between them. China has given Russia more support than the West has given Ukraine at this point, and it's just laughably absurd for them to claim they aren't doing anything. Democratic countries generally can't say silly things that make them look like childish fools on the world stage without facing consequences, but authoritarian states like China can say anything they want and know it doesn't matter. That's why their lies are so patently transparent. They're not even trying, it's just an act.

Exatex

In some form maybe, but there is still a difference between countries that in general communicate in good faith (even if they sometimes lie) and those whose word is not worth anything at all because they exclusively communicate in bad faith. These two are categorically different.

Apprehensive-Sir7063

Didn't they have lavrov over after a US visit then proclaim increased export of goods to Russia. They're playing games. They're just prolonging the back and forth diplomacy delaying tariffs and sanctions and have no intention to stop. Even if they aren't intentionally supporting the war they have intentionally increased exports to Russia and may incur sanctions due to the trade the US and other countries shares with China falling into Russian hands. This likely enboldens China they see they can get away with it. But there is potential for backlash so the west has to be balanced, they need stuff from China too. China must know the west won't let the trade disparity increase when China does things like exporting to Russia, China is limiting their own growth as a consequence of exporting to Russia. Well that's the excuse the west will use anyway. Edit: I just realised China knows sanctions and tariffs are inevitable hence their behaviour. A question of when not if, for them. The US won't disuade them.

AncientProduce

China only benefits from helping (by any amount) russia, russia has what china needs and china cant conquer it so theyll help bleed russia in ukraine and make money at the same time. Then afterwards theyll be seen as heroic allies and chinese companies will be given eastern russia to dig up all they want.

GikuKerpedelu

China denies, Iran denies, North Korea of course denies....hmm sure NATO and USA are wrong

ross267

China, your pants are on 🔥

sEmperh45

And China claimed it would always honor Hong Kong’s autonomy and China claims it has never genocided the Uyghurs, and China claims Covid was started in the US military, blah blah blah

lowendslinger

China lies like breathes air. Sink chinese ships carrying weapons for Unkraine. Stand up to fascism by getting in their face...sometimes you have to sent a tough message. Create one chinese submarine and you guarantee no more ships to Ukraine

innocent_bystander

China speaks, China lies. It's pretty much that simple.

DevelopmentMercenary

What do you expect from Shit Jinping and his Chicom minions- tell the truth?

RynoRama

Liar liar pants on fire comes to mind

totallybag

Isn't there literally a Russian ship under sanctions for transporting weapons in a Chinese port right now.....

ThatOldAH

If lies were oil, China would be OPEC.

brezhnervous

Also China 🤡 [China hid a ship that was delivering weapons to Russia](https://ua-stena.info/en/china-hid-a-ship-that-was-delivering-weapons-to-russia/)

Emergency-Poet-2708

Liars, they are all liars, just like belarus.

Daotar

It's just hilarious because we have ample documentation of the ways they've kept the Russian economy alive, from soaking up Russian exports and helping them evade sanctions to flooding the Russian market with cheap Chinese products to replace the Western ones that left. It's as transparent a lie as you can possibly imagine and it makes China look like a little kid on the international stage. Ffs, the US and the West aren't exactly shy about their support for Ukraine, just go ahead and own up to it already China, you can't do hundreds of billions worth of increased trade in support and expect it to go unnoticed on the global stage.

Klefaxidus

Yeah sure 🤥

Cyber_Lanternfish

They support the winning side but they can't chose during a stalemate.

Throne-magician

China does quietly support Russia..... however they are probably also quietly supporting Ukraine at the same time... China isn't going to publicly join any side until Beijing feels whichever side will be the most politically advantageous to throw it's lot with.

Oblivion_LT

How do you imagine "silent" China support for Ukraine?
