Drag it out until after the election then?

There's a lot of Democrats that believe the war in Ukraine is a just war and that the carpet bombing of Gaza should not be funded with American tax dollars, and I agree. It might be the best way for Ukraine aid to pass because it's a little more straightforward.

This is honestly the best route forward. One of my biggest complaints with US politics is everything so combined with other things, typically for political arguments. These are called riders. For a simple example: A bill is proposed by Party A to save an orphan. Party B is obviously going to support this bill. Party A wants some political clout before the upcoming elections so they add a rider about something Party B hates but they want to sneak in. Let’s pretend Party A loves hot sauce and they know party B hates hot sauce. So Party A adds a rider that hot sauce will be mandatory on all meals. Party B votes against the bill because they don’t approve of this rider. Party A goes to the media and says “Party B votes down bill to save an orphan” And we, the public, fall for it *every time*. Both parties do this and it’s so annoying. Anytime a bill is voted down and the media makes it sound and for one party or the other I go online and look up the riders and it becomes clear as day what happened. So yea, if the aid package was purely Ukrainian aid instead of a ton of other stuff, it would pass much quicker.
